What's best/fastest way to copy HDD over to new one?
Copy & paste?

Old laptop reached the end of it's life, and can no longer boot up with dead optic drive and can't boot from USB.

1.Get it it out and plugged to a newer laptop and boot live session of linux and copy over to external HDD.
2.Get it out and put it in enclosure/rack and copy over to external HDD.

so i've given up on the 4k meme but not the g-sync meme. i see almost no reason not to get the PG348Q over the other two. they all look good, but if i'm paying this much for a monitor i might as well get the one with the biggest screen real estate.

On Windows 7, is there a certain program or utility I should consider for backing up files on my computer to another drive?

I would just copy and paste what I need, but the reason I ask is because I've done copy and paste on Windows 7 before and ran into issues where Windows won't copy a folder or file because it says the directory name is too long or something like that. When it runs into that error too, it completely pauses the copy and paste process and when it completely stops, I'm not sure what files still need backing up after that.

I have a DVD full of private nudes from early-mid 2000s. Had it stashes for years. Long story short now it's like in two parts like pic related. I've still kept both pieces.

I was considering splitting them between two drives, but the more I think about it, the less I really see the point in doing it. I'm running one Linux distro for testing tools, one for casual use(I'm looking for an alternative to Linux Mint to play around with), and Windows XP.

Not true Anon, physical layout is not the same as virtual layout on an SSD due to wear levelling. You can even increase SSD life by under-allocating the filesystem, so say you have a 1TB disk and allocate 100GB of it for your filesystem and don't touch the rest, you'll get ten times the life out of your flash because given enough time your data will be spread evenly across the whole disk.
