Post your component list, rate other anons', ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

650W PSU is overkill. it even says 276W powerdraw at the top and youre obviously not overclocking or adding a 2nd GPU. 400-450W will be just fine

I'm planning on a mITX build, current case of choice would be cooler master elite 110, but I'm bothered by the lack of proper dust filters
anyone have the same case and have experience with the dust build-up?
>>
>>58377270

Psu overpriced, 80 dollar meme case, b150 when you wont use the added features, overpriced ram for aethestics. And that 1060 is a great model but definitely overpriced. Get a simple 1060 model they dont run hot anyway and any factory overclock is negligible.

Make compromises and get an i5 6500 using the money you wont regret it. I have that monitor and its very nice for 1080p
>>
>>58377270
You are already pushing $1k. Might as well get i5-6500 and make the system well rounded.

So Finnfag here looking to move my big and noisy -ass poverty tier FX-6300 build to home server use and get an elegant Intel gaming desktop in the Silverstone SG13 case. I already have a MSI r9 390 which I will not replace yet. If the GPU fits and I'm pleased with the case when it arrives, I'll probably pull the trigger. I know memory is expensive now but I'm worried about other parts not being available too far in the future so I think I'm ready to bite the ~30€ bullet. The memory might even raise in price after Ryzen launches. Case fan I will nig from my old rig which has plenty, it's a Fractal so it's fine. So what do you think, /pcbg/? Anything else I should take into consideration?

But the interesting thing is that 7770s in crossfire over PCIe (no bridge) seem to have near 100% scaling. 11ish fps at the super high quality settings I set in Heaven, versus 20ish running both cards.

my issue with these calculators is that the result doesn't actually reflect the psu wattage

like, I got just under 300w out of that calculator, and corsair recommends me a 500w psu for I don't know what reason

USB2 is okay for 802.11n, but you would need USB3 port for 802.11ac. PCIE will alway be higher bandwidth so you can't go wrong there. I guess I should also point out, your router must be ac capable if you want to take advantage of 1Gbps speeds.

You're not going to be overclocking a locked chip. May as well downgrade the mobo and stupid o/c ram as well. not going to do much with a dedicated gpu. 16g is plenty unless you are doing professional work, get a 2x8 kit and a board with 4 slots so you can upgrade later IF you need it.

I'm UK based unfortunately so those pricings are out of the question.

Gigabyte 4gb is by far the cheapest here at around £185 (about $227) but it seems like it has a lot of issues. XFX GTR is around £245 ($301) which puts me waaay above budget. The MSI 480/4gb is £222 ($273) which is still pretty high for me. My budget's only £600 so I have to be a bit of a Scrooge with this one. I'm about to pull the trigger on an i5-6500/GTX 1060 build. The last variable is whether or not I want to drop a little extra to get a Z170 board that can support non-K overclocking. I'm 95% sure the stock speed is good enough for me today, but I figure the OC option would be an insurance policy in case I need the extra cycles to extend the lifespan of the build in three years or so. Thoughts? In non-K overclocking a bad idea?

Relatedly, any word on non-K overclocking for Kaby Lake?
>>
>>58384147
Go for it if you don't mind the work of pushing the bios back. Personally I'd just get a 6600k and make it easy.
>>
>>58383986
Do you already own the RAM? If not, get DDR4-2400 vice 2133, because they're the same price and Kaby Lake supports 2400 natively.
>>
>>58384187
I considered it, but If I went 6600K, I'd be out an extra $40 for the processor, $20-30 for a cooler, and I'd still have to invest the extra $30 in the mobo. Since this is all just speculation about what I might need in three years, that seems really expensive for an insurance policy. The 6500 saves me ~$70 today, with the option of OC-ing for the price of a cooler down the road.

I'm looking at 200-series mobos
I will most likely be running on a G4560.
Which mobo do I pick? I have to strong contenders

ATX:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1306985-REG/msi_b250_pc_mate_gaming.html
mATX:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NAGY084/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Is there any advantage over going ATX?
Because other than having more PCIe slots, the ATX seems kind of unnecessary.
Plus the mATX is cheaper.

Luckily i have a few months before i'm going to do a fresh build, but it's real hard finding cases that tick the boxes.

I guess the simplest way to put it is i want a Small form factor Silverstone style layout, with Lian-Li's clean looks. Unfortunately what silverstone has on display at CES is a bit disappointing, i was hoping for a new aluminium chassis from them.

Built a lot of headroom in this pc on purpose so if I ever wanted to spend the money I would have good parts everywhere and everything to support it. I used it for regularly for mid (I guess) level gaming. Some of. The parts were gifts, so I didn't pay for some of it

Actually, I upgraded to the 6600k. Is there something wrong with 2666 Mhz in general or is it just because the MoBo doesn't support it?

Also, what's wrong with my power supply? I don't get it.
>>
>>58389772
Just get 2x8GB 3000/3200 RAM, pick the cheapest kit.
>what's wrong with my power supply?
Swap it out for the G2, it's a better platform and 550W is enough.
>>
>>58389809

After further research, it looks like the G2 is more well respected. I don't really know what "platform" means in this context, but it looks like the G2 and GS are made by different people. I'll look into that. I'll also look into new RAM, but I don't really think I need 2x8GB. Thanks.

>>58389855
>I don't really know what "platform" means
It means what the PSUs "core" is. In the case of the G2 the OEM manufacturer is Super Flower and the platform is the Leadex II.
>but I don't really think I need 2x8GB
If it's for gaming only you don't, but imho it's not that much more expensive and allows for extensive mutlitasking and RAM hungry applications like heavily modded games and work if you do that.

>>
>>58390209
ah ok thank you again. i definitely want a good sound card with headphones like those. (i mean, if it does sound kinda hissy then i can always get a dac/amp lol)
>>
>>58390172
Thanks for trying at least, anon. Should I not bother at all then? It's a bit ridiculous that a similar build in the US would cost me about a hundred quid less. This $1=£1 shit when it comes to PC parts is beyond annoying.

I only really plan on using the PC to save money on the stupid amounts of money I pay on multiplat games so I may just go for it regardless. I've come to terms with being ripped off for being a Bong now anyway.
>>
>>58390352
Won't sound hissy but the GA has a better chip on board, also shouldn't be a problem with X2's since they are like what, 32 Ohm?
My PC can power DT990's 250 Ohm, sometimes i'd like a little more power, though.

Zen CPUs won't offer good thermals and wattages, and most likely there won't be many, if any, mini-ITX boards at launch. Intel prices might drop depending on the category you're aiming for, but DDR4 prices might raise. The GPUs tho, they are probably worth checking out.

Well hello, fellas. Got a bit of money so I thought it may be time to replace my last (wrecked) PC.

Here is the list of the components I found, I'm on a budget (900-1000€ absolute maximum) and unfortunately I live in France which means I won't have these sweet prices they have in Britain.

Its purpose would be to be able to run some high-tier games (GTA V, Arma III, Fallout 4) and more modest ones (Space Engineers, Subnautica mostly). Do you think I chose well ? I'm thinking that maybe the MOBO is not a very good choice.

I would be extremely thankful.
>>
>>58390967
You can save yourself ~$30, if you drop the CPU fan. Unless the CPU states that it's OEM, you should be getting a stock CPU cooler, with your processor. Since you don't have a 6xxxk processor, you should be fine with a stock cooler, as you won't be overclocking. Other than that, looks good.
>>

The 1060 should be more than enough for 1080p gaming, on ultra settings. I have a 960, and am able to game at ultra/tweaked ultra on most everything. The 1060 is basically a more efficent, and powerful 980, which can game at resolutions of 1440p just fine.
