I've never deliberately dont it myself but I don't think it's a bad approach. I'm on an IRC channel (~50 users, invite-only but nothing to do with torrenting) where there's kind of an accumulation of people on "high level" trackers. Over the years I've seen invites to BTN, PTP, HDB, DB9, KG, Bib and other niche trackers that are "high level" given out liberally because there's a lot of trust in there. After WCD went down everyone had been set up on PTH within a couple of days. Invites to "lower level" trackers like TC, SCC, etc. are usually given on request. So there are places like that out there, it's just finding them I guess. No harm idling for a while somewhere.

Yes. Most people who have put the effort in over the years to be comfy on top trackers are also heavy IRC users and are only too happy to help out IRC friends. It'd probably take a month to become part of a community but really once someone like that trusts you, you're golden for life. This is basically how I got my start. Years ago I got invited to SCC by a guy on IRC, kept a good ratio there and since then the same guy has invited me to the entire cabal, KG and a few others over the years. In fairly decent-sized channels there's also people with a lot of wide ranging interests so I was able to easily get into some more obscure trackers like Shellife, lztr, 32pages and whatever that dead cookery tracker is called.

What's a public tracker that is easy to upload to? TPB isn't working, limetorrents doesn't have an upload field, worldwidetorrents.eu requires you to fill out a form and apply for uploader status. What's left? I honestly didn't think this would be so f*cking difficult.

i think it's cos the type of person more likely to use rizon is more likely to be a tracker user. a lot of people on freenode and other networks are more generic tech types whereas rizon people are a good cross between tech/internet savvy and degen enough to put effort into stealing shit via p2p. also most of the channels i mentioned in the advice i gave probably have a 4chan-derived culture so it's easier to "fit in". i'd struggle to go to a freenode channel and hang out with non-4chan people enough to become friends and get invites.
