Norwegian here, it has nothing to do with conscience. The cars are dirt cheap because there's almost no tax on them. Almost all our electricity is from hydroelectric so that's almost free, especially with the spectacularly rainy summer we've had. It's said that a Tesla will pay for itself within five years vs a normal ICE car here.

Are you kidding? 50% of the cars here in Oslo are Teslas. I noticed that when I stopped at a crosswalk and had teslas on both sides.

It's cheap cars, but also good cars. It's not only the immigrant population that buys them, they are considered comfy and nice cars. Also you get free recharges and free parking at malls also free recharges at most office parking spaces so you don't have to spend money on fuel.
