I just loaned stuff so I can buy a phone. This is about my limit. Is it an ok phone? Looking for some camera shoots.

Right now I have a Xiaomeme Redmi 3s. When I bought it over the summer, I was hoping it would cooperate better with American wireless networks. Or, at least, that's what I was led to believe from the one website. I probably get a 90/9/1 split between Edge, HSPA, and HSPA+ respectively. It's really atrocious. I really don't need a super-duper assblasting powerful phone, I'm content with anything that can do phone things, run a couple tabs in Icecat, and ocassionally tether to my laptop without issue. Other than that, I don't care about hardware, as long as I can get mostly LTE and HSPA+, and can replace the battery with a fuckhuge one. Right now, I have a Galaxy S3 leftover from an old Sprint contract, but since I can't replace the SIM card (easily or practically, anyway), I can't move it over to the Straight Talk plan I'm on now. I think I can flash the radio to use something else, but cursory research says that the couple Sprint MVNOs aren't worth the trouble to move over. Other research shows that moving this phone over to ST ain't happening, so I'm kinda boned. I looked on ebay and found a bunch of Galaxy S3s and S4s that were around 100bux, which ain't bad, but I don't remember if there are any gotchas with the various carriers' Galaxy phones, and I don't really know whether the S4 is a necessary bump over the S3.

I'm at a bit of an impasse on this one, so any advice or insight on getting a new old phone or wrestling my current phone into working is appreciated.

It said it'd work with up to HSPA+, in contrast to the RN3 which didn't work with shit. In practice they seem to be about on-par. I would imagine that part of the issue is how the local wireless network is laid out, but trying to research this shit is hard, there's a lot of confusing and contrasting information out there. When I'd bought it, there wasn't much information about the 3S anyway, since it was relatively new and people were focused on the RN3 instead, so it was an informed gamble that didn't pay off.

That was the original plan, but it got axed when I realized I need a new SIM card for a phone with one embedded on the board. I don't think I can actually use this one, though, I think I need any other model with a swappable SIM card to be able to use it with my network. I didn't know it was better, that's interesting.

Mi4C is probably the biggest value Xiaomi phone. Cheaper than redmi 3s/4 but faster, better cameras front and back compared to any redmi (far better in quality in low light compared to rn3p). Only thing you lose is SD slot and battery life, but they still get like 5-6hrs sot.

I hadn't looked at the Zenfone 3 and now that I have I must admit I like it.

The first thing that occurs to me though is that it's priced about the same as the OP3T, the Huawei P9 and the ZTE Axon 7.

I don't know if it's because of previous Asus Zenphones or the look or just me but the Zenphone3 immediately seems overpriced. "Zenphone" just sounds like something cheap that should be priced like the Redmi Notes and phones like that.

Any downsides with the oneplus 3t for me personally it looks like the best bang for the buck android phone

A 2 MP camera isn't even usable for Periscope or WeChat. I know this particular point doesn't mean much to most but I personally barely use the back camera compared to how much I use the front camera (I'd rather have a good front camera than back if I could choose).

There are work arounds for the redmi 3s HSDPA issue on the Xiaomi forums in that 100 page thread of people bitching about this issue.

It may be a hardware issue, seems some people got their boards replaced and the issue stopped.

Basically I wanted a cheap 7" tablet with cameras. All the 7-8" cheap tablets have garbage Intel Atom chips and 2 MP (=not usable) cameras.

I got it for half the price of the Xiaomi Mi Max and from the reviews I've seen that one has totally shitty build-quality. I don't expect the Doogee to be that much better in terms of build-quality but it was half the price and I will mostly be using it to watch videos and videochat. I'm guessing the two-core Mali T860 won't be much good for gaming but that's really not why I bought it.

Will report back in a few weeks....

this is from my own experience with Oneplus' other phones. Their software can be a bit buggy, actual performance is worse than the specs make you believe it should be. My suspicion is that they mess up the drivers and/or suck at tweaking for stability and instead just hack stuff together.

My other gripe is the touch screen sensitivity. You won't notice it coming from a crappy phone, but they way the phones register touch input is very wonky. A tap will be registered as a swipe quite often, gesture typing is just a bit more prone to error and precision actions take just a bit more effort. It's very noticeable if you switch from a OnePlus phone to an actual flagship, because the flagship will seem much, much more smooth and responsive.

But this might be better on the 3T, maybe some unbiased anon can jump and give us an honest opinion, which I doubt since this board is full of shills.

Alright guys, I have already posted a review of my new Honor 8 two weeks ago, but I tough that I should state a few things. Things that you won't hear anywhere else.

Pros:

>REALLY FAST
>looks nice (the white one, but it depends on your taste)
>battery life is perfect (pic: heavy-ish use)
>Ir, headphone jack, sd card
>camera is good (I don't even use it but, the pictures looked good)
>XDA has some good stuff for it and it's easily rootable

U decide:
>fingerprint sensor button is on the back and it's programmable
>EMUI
I am coming from stock android, and I do actually like it better

Cons:
>glass back could feel a bit slippery, and makes the phone fragile
>the music processing is below than average (4/10)
>lock and volume buttons aren't perfect, both placement and clickiness

My options of choice are between HTC 10 or One Plus 3T, or the best phone with expandable storage.
