It's not a lot of work. I mean there is a minimum amount you need to download per year, but it is a very small amount (1GB per week average, so basically after 4-5 movies you are done).

For buffer you can do two things:
a) grab the freeleech torrents (using your home connection, not a seedbox, since freeleech only counts on non commercial lines)
b) seed the fuck out of everything so you gain BP which you can buy upload with

It's also an active site, so even grabbing esoteric stuff you'll get upload.

When you have enough bp, you can buy a personal freeleech day, and load up a seedbox (for personal freeleech you can use a seedbox and have the freeleech work) or home machine and then permaseed those and you are then /setforlyfe/

If you want to confirm CD rips you downloaded are good, CUETools is pretty nice. Just drag in the first track and set it to verify and it should do all the work, if it's in the database it will tell you if it's accurately ripped or not (and let you repair it if it's corrupt anywhere).

If the log says 100% and it has a checksum, it's usually fine, EAC also comes with a CTDB plugin now so you should have basically the same thing in any recent EAC logs.
Audio can also be edited after the log in generated, or logs can be faked (most people don't check the checksums).
