Is the external drive fast enough for a torrent server on a minimum internet speed?

Is Quod Libet worth for Windows?

I have large music library (>15000 archives) and I've heard it works fine for these. Note that I'm computer illiterate (coming from Foo2K), and all my library is already nicely tagged, so I wouldn't really be using the edition feature, just playing and browsing.

>>
>>57546448
yes

relocating sectors means some existing sectors got damaged
noisy hard drive implies that damage was caused by mechanical failure

bail on that drive now before it totally craps out.
>>
>>57546448
how long have you had that?

if 01 and 07 are both "good", I wouldnt worry too much.

That being said, you should plan for any platter-based HDD to die around 7 years of active use. I would definitely backup important shit regularly after 4 years, if you dont already back up as it is.
>>
>>57546468
ISP's lease bandwidth from the company/government that owns the cable.
If an isp doesn't offer service to an area it's usually because they think it won't be worth it for them to lease pipe space from the owner to that area.

I am a software developer. Based on the tasks my scrum master has been assigning to us, I personally do not think we will meet the deadline (~6-9 months from now) with the capabilities that we are required to deliver.

I have brought this up to him a few times and offered to work other tasks that I consider beneficial. But he has said, don't worry about it, just do the work I tell you. Should I go over his head to try to resolve this (i.e. be a whistleblower), or just shut up and do the work I am assigned?

Oh man, this one's a total dud. Damn shame, considering my older hitachi's been silent and strong for years, but I knew my paranoia about weird noises wouldn't fail me. Time to rev up those warranties, because I sure am ready for one that works.

This means I've got another question or two.

How long can I even continue to use this thing? A day? A week?

I moved the computer around a little today, but I was very, very careful about not moving it too much and setting it down properly. Was there anything I might've done wrong?

I'm a beginner so go easy on me
I'm making a basic little GUI program that draws an array of different interactive modules to a Windows form using form paint (this is c#). I'd like for the user to be able to open and close these modules at will but because they're made from unique classes I don't have any way of keeping track of them all. I want to be able to loop through them and display them simultaneously. They each have a "display" method and as it stands now I'm calling these methods manually line by line in the form paint section of the main program.

I tried solving the problem by having an array of another type of object that takes the graphic information from each of these individual modules and draws it, then changing the "display" function in each of the different modules to draw the information to an image which is then passed to this object. However the code that updates the graphic information is in the individual display functions of these modules so I still have to call them myself, defeating the purpose.

In short I'm trying to figure out how to display various components of a graphic interface, which are constructed from objects from various unique classes, while allowing the user to add and remove them at will. Again I'm a noob and the program is in its very early stages so I appreciate and will try anything you suggest

This thing is burning away time like nothing. I'm up to 600 bad sectors now. I'm fortunate that I've only barely started using it, mostly just putting games on there, but I really am surprised this happened. Hopefully I can return this thing ASAP and get one that'll last.

Viola! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition! The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V.

>>57549399
That's my main plan, to put them in folders based on categories.

eg:
>...\Photos
>...\Screencaps\4chan\co
>...\Screencaps\4chan\g
>...\Screencaps\4chan\int
>...\Wallpapers

As you can see, these will categorise images by type/purpose, then by source.

However, if I wish to find all the ones that are humorous, I can't just go to a folder or group by an attribute. I need to have a searchable tagging system, so that I can search, for example, "humour" and it will return all the humorous images there.

Now I could go about naming all the files with descriptive names so that searching is viable:
>...\Screencaps\4chan\g\CS graduate humour girls in compsci odd numbers meme.png
>...\Screencaps\4chan\int\Australia America emu war humour shitposting greentext.png
>...\Screencaps\4chan\g\horrible parent laptop rage 1234 greentext meme.png
But I feel that it looks ugly and messy, and would rather that as a set of tags rather than the actual filename. But, I don't think .gif or .png support tags. So I'm wondering if there is an alternative to filename tagging that I haven't thought of.

Under audio playback devices in windows, headphones appear for a second and then disappear for a second, continuously. How thoroughly should I realistically dust my case? Generally when I open it up I blow some compressed air in it and wipe down the fans and any surfaces I feel safe doing so, but what should I do for, for instance, the top of MY gpu which has a slight pate of dust on it that doesn't come off with compressed air?
>>
>>57550344
It's enough to blow it out once a year if you have adequate HEPA. This is assuming it has only as many fans as it needs. More airflow = more dust moving through and catching.
>>
>>57550378
I have two intake fans in front, an exhaust in back, and the PSU fan in the bottom, assuming you're ignoring the CPU an GPU fans. I guess I wasn't really asking about the frequency of cleaning and more how autistic I should get about the dust inside. I assume it's an absolute nono to try to rub something on the GPU board to get any dust off it, for instancd.

If you are playing at 1080p then you probably won't need it.
if at 1440p or higher, then it becomes a bottleneck. There are games that use slightly above 4GB of vram, so if there was a 5GB or 6 GB version, it would be perfect middle ground.
So why they didn't add 1 or 2? it's because memory controller has to be paired with exact amount of memory chips, or multiplier of some arbitary number for that particular chip.
Google nvidia 970 3,5 GB ram issue, if you add uneven number to memory controller, part of memory has to be split and works slower.

Why would you use it? Depends on what games you play or what workload you do. Search how much your games/work use and decide which one you want.

However, for some reason, the 8GB versions of rx480 have higher memory clock and higher chip clock most of the time, so they will perform better than 4GB versions even at lower resolutions because of that.
>>
>>57551500
Even if you bring up things like quantum uncertainty, that only serves to randomize the outcome. It doesn't mean the "individual" has any more control over that outcome.

Though personally I've always thought it's a pretty big leap to say that because something can't be measured or predicted, that its outcome is random. That is, the same inputs should always lead to the same result, even if we can't necessarily determine what all of those inputs are. But this is probably impossible to prove one way another barring time travel or something like that.
>>
>>57551544
i agree, though some people like to bring up quantum mechanics as a last resort. in my opinion free will can't exist, if you define it as 'consciously making decisions'. as the libet experiment and modern fmri studies show, decisions are made subconsciously up to 10 seconds before we become aware of them. that doesn't sound like 'free' will to me.

i doubt that we are able to consciously control the particles we are made of, so it's physically impossible for free will to exist.

You'll have to make a seperate partition to dual boot it. Then you can select which OS you want to use when you boot. You only need one hard drive for this.

Or, you can run it as a virtual machine in your current OS, using software like VMWare. Then you can start the other OS from within your current OS (in a seperate window)

Either way, because of shit manufacturing, hair-thin cracks form in the conductors.
When the card is hot, the material expands and the cracks disappear.
When the card cools down, the material shrinks, the cracks appear again and the conductors can't conduct electricity anymore so the card stops working.

I'm using x264 and set the slider to 24 after 20 still spat out 2gb files size. Now they're looking at being ~1.2gb with pretty awful quality. Do I need to use a slower setting? I'm using slow right now, I saw some tests that showed below slow increases conversion time considerably while files use stays almost the same.

I have a Pre-built Dell desktop that i bought back in 2012 and recently i cloned my os over to an ssd. The issue is the boot time is horrendous because the dell bios is just shit. It takes over 1 min for the bios to boot up and like 3 seconds for the ssd. Is there a way i can get rid of the dell propietary bullshit or is it embbeded in the bios?

I have the babby Zotac 1060 6GB. It works well but the only problem is that due to the smaller heat sink and only one fan it can get pretty hot pretty quickly. Using MSI Afterburner I customized the fan speed to be a bit higher and it runs at decent temps now. I haven't risked overclocking for that reason too.

The noise from the fan isn't all that noticeable unless its running at max speed, but I wear headphones so I never notice.

What are you upgrading from? If you're willing to save money I'd say you should get a full size, more powerful card. I was just impatient when I got mine. I don't regret it, but it isn't optimal

it helps to have a higher quality source

transcoding a 20G remux down to 1.5G will more than likely give a better result than transcoding a 3G rip to 1.5G
>>
i want to build a device to monitor my REM sleep and do stuff with it ( read: i want to plug it into my phone usb port then i'll code my stuff).

i am ready to hack and code a bit, but what are my cheapest starting options?

i only really need one sensor so buying one with one USB or miniUSB plug would be ideal.I suspect building one from scratch would end up costing more.

it's rated for 12v, so anything above that is undefined territory

What are the chances Windows 10 makes you more likely to get sent a copyright infringement notice for using torrents?

My roommate and landlord's son both use it and we have gotten copyright notices, maybe from using Popcorn-time. Never had this problem before Win 10. I use private trackers and just learned about ssh tunneling, so hopefully it's not me.

I mean, nothing is free right? They gave Windows 10 for free so they can make money other ways, right?
>>
>>57554516
I doubt it's anything to do with W10. I pay monthly for a VPN with private internet access and haven't got a copyright infringement notice since. Also, Kodi with the Exodus addon is god tier providing you have decent network speeds.

If you're still here, UEFI is a replacement for old, MBR based boot, where information is stored in a dedicated partition of a disk, instead of using the first sectors of a drive, where the MBR bootloader is located.
Unfortunately, this means the two cannot work together unless you install both UEFI and MBR boot partitions.
tl;dr new boot mode, it's not cross-compatible.
