We purchased a 4k 50" tv from lg (pic related) this morning and i am now looking for the best sites to stream and possibly torrent 4k movies/ documentaries and shows from. Anyone know of a good site? I know netflix has SOME movies in 4k, and theyre all shit. Any good FREE sites for streaming in 4k? Torrent sites would be great too since kat was taken down months ago.

that's what happens when you're early adapter, lol, you just have to wait for 4k to be mainstream now
>>
>>57497915
A 50" 4k tv from lg doesn't even cost 700$
>>
OP here! People saying theyre expensive; it was only £460. And im looking for a good site because people have told me netflix has 4k movies and tv shows, when i looked it up, theres like 10 maybe and ive never heard of a single one!

you can torrent and stream plex locally at 4k. You might need the new chromecast if it doesn't support it built in

4k tvs are the only ones you can buy.

I bought a 60" 4k tv at costco for 550 bucks yesterday.

Ill use it almost exclusively for 1080p media

The fuck are you going on about--I bought a 40" 4K Samsung for $330 the other week.

It really is 'sour grapes' until certain things become standards and no longer carry price premiums.

private trackers + seedbox + kodi. There are not a lot of 4k movies but in some sites you can find them, also there are quite some 4k TV shows.

It's really nice but I don't think you could do it for free, 4k content is huge so you will need a seedbox.

I pay for a 20 bucks seedbox, to be honest I would say its worth it, you get all the content from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and all movies known to mankind with great quality.
>>
Check out >>>/g/ptg for trackers, read the OP and ask about any further questions you may have

4k blurays aren't cracked yet, so you can choose from netflix caps or 4k porn pretty much.
For the time being, most of your content will be upscaled
Depending on the input delay and your PC specs, it could be really sweet for gaming though
>>
Most TV's are 4k nowadays but that doesn't change the fact that it's more or less a gimmick like 3d or HD back in the day. Most streams on cable networks are still broadcasted in 720p. Over the air if you're lucky is 1080i but that costs them lots of electricity to boost it so they tend to skimp out when they can. Webrips in 720p and 1080p aren't that great usually either. It will be another five to ten years before you see 4k content to any degree if at all. Possibly longer. They're still not done getting everything into Bluray.
>>
>>57497915
>not watching 4k porn and see all their stds.
>>
Oh and people don't upgrade their TV's as often as a phone or even a computer. I still have TV's that are over 10 years old and they work fine. No reason to change them.
>>
>>57503747
build wall.

not murrican, but 4k tv have become affordable in the last year or so.
>>
>>57503771
4k with a shit bitrate.
>>
>>57506124
You can buy a decent handful of new 4K movies on Blu-Ray at this very moment.
>>
>>57506186

This is why they pushed the 3d meme and why they're pushing the 4k meme now. They need people to keep buying TVs.

I have a 42" 4k TV myself, but I use it as a computer monitor. There are a few Netflix series available in 4k, but otherwise it's just another gimmick at this point.
>>
Walmart has a 4k tv with Roku built in for $350 atm.
>>57506124
>still using cable
Dude all Netflix original content lately has been 4k.
>>
>>57506863
The cheap 4K tvs are garbage. If it doesn't have proper HDR support it isn't worth looking at.
>>
>>57506269
20-30 Mbps VP9 is perfectly reasonable for streams
>>
>>57506879
The only drawback of the cheap panels is the 30Hz. Nobody even knows what HDR is.
>>
>>57506879
I bought a cheap Westinghouse for around 300 bucks 55" LED LCD a couple years ago. Originally purchased it to give the kiddos a TV for gayming and youtube. Anyhoo fucker caught fire on the back panel. Something about the power brick and the board for it something chinky and shitty. Literal house fires waiting to happen.
>>
>>57506903
HDR is half the point of 4K under 60 inches.

The colors look fucking i n c r e d i b l e on decent 4K HDR capable TVs. Not all 4K Blu-Rays or streaming services have HDR yet but it's real pretty when they do.

You do also pay for build quality, that Roku TV is likely some Note 7-tier exploding chink junk. Buy for life and all that.
>>
>>57502688

there are far more than 3.
>>
>>57497866
tribler
>>
4k is pretty limited to blu-ray and torrents that are rips of blu-ray.

There just isn't the infrastructure out there yet for everyone to start streaming 4k from their living room. Give it a few more years.
>>
What's the point in buying anything less than UHD these days? It doesn't make sense to go 1920x1080 when you consider the price of must UDH TVs
>>
>>57506903
>The only drawback of the cheap panels is the 30Hz.
And the subsampling, sharpening, motion interpolation, jitter, gamma instability, shit color accuracy and dynamic contrast

seriously if you buy a TV for its image quality you are braindead
>>
>>57506929
>The colors look fucking i n c r e d i b l e on decent 4K HDR capable TVs
t. shill

HDR doesn't even affect the colors, just the image brightness
>>
>>57507108
4k streaming can be done at high quality with 25mbps, which, coincidentally is also the American FCC's definition of broadband.

tl;dr most people already have 25mbps.
>>
>>57507639
>gamma instability
fucking lol'd
Nice try though.
>>
>>57507732

It's not about the connection at your home, it's about the datacenter. You understand the amount of resources it would take to stream 25Mbps to ten's of millions of people at once?
>>
>Buying a 4k 50" TV
>50"

Are you guys legitimately retards? 4k was meant for 65" and plus screens. Unless you stick your face at the screen, you won't notice any difference.
>>
>>57507809
That's why they build multiple datacenters.
>>
It's frustrating that one can't seem to find a new 2015/16 model non-UHD TV that has freesat capability built in.

And generally a lack of new 1080p TVs from reputable brands with a good feature set otherwise.
>>
>>57506863
4k Netflix is like a 1080p Blu-ray if you're lucky.
>>
>>57507871
I have an old panny plasma from 2005 or 2006 which supports everything.

>cable card
>coaxial input
>amazing speakers and sub best I've heard on a flat screen
>two hdmi
>pc 3.5mm in and out
>optical/spdif
>component
>composite
>SD card in front which also doubles as a way to update the firmware and view pictures/video
>built in tuner
>built in TV Guide even grabs it if over the air
>upscales standard digital or OTA/DvD streams
>superior options for scaling and the best just option I've yet seen
>>
>>57507839
You're a fucking retard.
>>
>>57507839
They just cache it why build datacenters hehe.
>>
>>57507871
Try hisense they are pretty good.
>>
>>57507924
That's great if you already have it, but I'm just trying to help the old folks out. Dad doesn't want to spend a ton of money.
>>
>>57507833
HDR is still discernable regardless of viewing distance.
>>
>>57507942
I hear ya. I was just chiming in with how bad the feature set has gotten in the last at least five years. Computer monitors aren't any different where the pleb ratio of 16:9 is standard and I'm sitting here on my 16:10 patrician's choice monitors since 2005.
>>
>>57507939
Thanks for the suggestion, but at a glance their 32" (size I'm looking at) is 720p. I did find a Sharp on amazon but it wasn't a smart TV.
>>
>>57498629
>what is HEVC
>>
>>57508021
HEVC isn't there yet though. Kaby Lake is the first one to actually support it anyways last I checked. It's not even out.
>>
>>57508042
are you legitimately misinformed or just pretending to be retarded?

HEVC has been “out” for over 2 years, and it's already being used by blu-ray as well as supported by every major media player (using software decoding). On top of this, hardware acceleration is already available in all current nvidia and AMD GPUs
