The thing is, no one who's in charge or has any kind of political power likes net neutrality. That is, unless we elect RMS for president.

The internet is only still as free as it is, little though that amy be, thanks to America. Europe, the UN, despotic third world shitholes, etc have all wanted to censor the shit out of it and eliminate anonymity and whatnot since basically forever.
>>
Net neutrality is about keeping the Internet free and avoiding blocking or preferring of content by ISPs. In Chile we've had net neutrality for 6 years and no one has censored anything. In fact it has forced companies to provide transparency, freedom to choose only the services you wish, and weapons to fight against traffic shaping.
>>

Hillary Clinton co-sponsored the original Net Neutrality bill. She supports it. Full stop. Many valid criticisms against HRC, Net Neutrality isn't one.

>>57132278
It's pretty much the opposite. Most politicians whether you agree with them or not, run out of a patriotic duty to serve their country. Almost all of Mr. Trump's policy proposals seem to be for himself, besides "the wall". For example, getting rid of the estate tax (Taxation on wills worth over 5.4 million dollars) which as an obese 70 year old man, benefits his family greatly. And he also proposes massive tax cuts bigger than the Bush cuts, while also raising taxes on the middle class. Mr. Trump seems more interested in making America great for himself than anyone else.
>>
>>57132278

Why isn't he making it great already then, chum?

He's a millionaire, he's got plenty of power in his hands already, he could surely be doing something to improve the country. But he isn't.

Stop being naïve.

The Democratic Platform says that they want to prevent Republican efforts to roll-back the current FCC net neutrality rules.

They dont explicitly say they'll go further, though (e.g. applying those rules to mobile, which is still exempt from neutrality rules). I think in general politicians are reluctant to spend political capital on technical issues because they are less staightforward and often poorly understood by their constituencies, which opens them up for misleading attacks. That will probably be the case with Hillary IMO
>>
>>57132781
>proposes massive tax cuts bigger than the Bush cuts, while also raising taxes on the middle class
You contradict yourself.
He plans on lowering taxes, period. For everyone. It's stated on his plans or whatever, that you can check for yourself.
>>
The sad thing about this election is that it took this long for Trump's popularity to finally start going down. I fully expected him to lose all of his momentum after the first debate(which he did) but it wasn't really until just before the second debate that his popularity collapsed(due to the tape). Even now people are still supporting him even though his behavior and lack of knowledge would have ruined basically any other candidate.
>>
>>57132781
> most
Nah most are criminals that only care about whats best for them and those who contributed money

http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-presidential-debate-fact-check/2016/10/true-trumps-plan-would-significantly-raise-taxes-on-the-middle-class-229143

His tax plan includes the removal of personal exemption and several tax credits. So while taxes will be 'cut', they'll actually end up going up for most families.
>>
>>57132929
The real sad thing is that the whole "party-loyal to a horrible candidate" thing doesnt really happen with democrats in modern elections. In 84 and 88 the democratic nominees were terrible and democrats overwhelmingly voted for the republican candidate out of a basic understanding that sometimes the best candidate is from the other party. Mondale barely won a single state.

There are very reasonable Republicans that completely understand how unstable Trump is, who will vote for him out of party loyalty anyway. I like my republican friends but I really do think that is pathetic.
>>
>>57132795

Why are people like him even allowed to run? Don't they have enough power already?

Isn't the whole point of democracy to level the playing field by giving power to those who don't have any?
>>
>>57130979
>we
Yeah no, just you amerifats
>>
>>57133041
I agree people voting for someone just because of their party affiliation is stupid, but pre-1990s US politics was a very different time. Blame Newt Gingrich.

That said there have also been instances of Republican defectors, like in 08 when Indiana went blue and in this election it seems like a toss up with AZ, Georgia and even Utah going blue.
>>
>>57133116
>Georgia
Georgia is not going blue pal, not my state.
>>
>>57133041
I typically vote republican myself but Trump is simply not a good candidate. The best thing you could say about him is that he probably wont be able to accomplish anything that he wants to accomplish, which is sad by itself.

I think Trump is not running for president, he's running for dictator. I'm sure if he even realizes the difference between the two.

>Clinton strongly supports net neutrality.[500][501] Senator Clinton was a cosponsor of the Internet Freedom Preservation Act, also known as the Snowe-Dorgan bill, as an amendment to the Telecommunications Act of 1996, that protects network neutrality in the United States. The bill aims to protect internet consumers and small businesses from Internet service providers charging large companies different amounts for Internet access than smaller customers. Clinton has stated that the Internet must continue to use an "open and non-discriminatory framework" so that it may be used as a forum where "views are discussed and debated in an open forum without fear of censorship or reprisal".[502] In 2007, she stated, "I support net neutrality... [The Internet] does not decide who can enter its marketplace and it does not pick which views can be heard and which ones silenced. It is the embodiment of the fundamental democratic principles upon which our nation has thrived for hundreds of years."[502] While secretary of state, Clinton delivered a major speech (entitled "Remarks of Internet Freedom") in January 2010, declaring that "We stand for a single Internet where all of humanity has equal access to knowledge and ideas."[503] In her 2016 platform, Clinton proposed to defend and enforce "the FCC decision under the Obama Administration to adopt strong network neutrality rules that deemed internet service providers to be common carriers under Title II of the Communications Act."[500][501]

Saying matters just as much as doing when you're the president, which Mr. Trump fails to understand. Neither have even become president, but during the debates statements by the candidates actually caused stocks to rise and fall. Statements by Mr. Trump have also caused diplomatic relations to sour with the US, especially between Mexico-US and Canada-US. Not a great thing when both are some of America's most reliable trading partners.

>Who the fuck do you vote for both really don't understand you can't have a free internet with TPP nor a free internet without net neutrality?

TPP is far more of a threat to the internet than a lack of NN. The internet grew up without formal NN. The TPP would give sufficient power to the Internet's biggest thugs to run it into a ditch.

Trump trump trump trump.

git gud and dont be poor :^)

>The internet grew up without formal NN.
The internet from the days of telephone lines had NN. When we moved off of telephone lines to cable, ethernet and fiber the rules changed even though it was basically the same shit just a different method.

Kek. Wouldnt count on it buddy

I can understand people finding trump to be crazy, corrupt, whatever. I can understand the concerns and he's not someone you can look in the eye and trust to keep you alive.

However I don't see how it's possible for so many people to be blind to what hillary and associates have been doing. You have literal chumps with loads of money telling you how to vote and how to think, instigating little wars, violence around rallies, appearing on television telling you that owning a certain bit of information that compromises them is illegal, therefore you have to remain ignorant... There is not a single free mind that can agree with this tyranny.
>>
>>57135385
Remember Trump loves the poorly educated.
>>
>>57135558
Are you referring to Trump?
>>
Right on this thread convinced me to vote for hillary its about time we had a female president i mean even obama the first african american president says she is most qualified to be president fuck white people #ImWithHer

Net Neutrality?
It's myth just like like internet anonymity
>>
>>57135385
>how are people supposed to be smart in an age when everything you could ever want to know is given to your freely on the internet and accessible by anyone at any time without restriction

Wow. I have no idea retard.

Cutting taxes is a principle. You have no right to take that much of my money just because you can't figure out how to spend what you have properly. I'm not an unlimited piggy bank that you can draw from anytime you make stupid mistakes or careless decisions.
>>
It's a meme. It's not neutral, it is more political control. Ask if viewing porn videos should have the same priority as military, hospitals, government services. Suddenly the neutrality flies out of the window. There is no definite nonchanging definition of what net neutrality means, It's a loose term subject to political play political intrigue.
The ignorant techie who wants gov enforced net neutrality only knows his technology, he doesn't understand the political system.
>>
>>57130979
Clinton would sell it to the the highest bidder plus monitor the fuck out everything.
>>
>>57130979
Companies should be able to do whatever the fuck they want with the service they provide.
Government shouldn't cuck companies into doing stupid shit.

While I think net neutrality is good, it shouldn't be forced by the government, but rather, competition
>>
>>57135567
That must be why Hillary is pushing to get the uneducated ghetto voters with all that race baiting.

>>57135579
He's referring to Hillary's leaked emails which plainly lay out her open corruption and blatant disregard for everyone who isn't paying her, constituents included.

Kindly fuck off CTR shills, this is the wrong place to propagate you bullshit. We're actually paying attention to what you faggots have done to Assange for telling the truth.
>>
>>57130979
She'll support the kind of net neutrality that corrects the record
>>
>>57136523
She'll only support whatever gives her money in her pocket, not minding what she's said before (as she's been doing thus far).
>>
>>57130979
you are fucked from the moment you knew you had to choose between two shitty choices.

>Democracy is supposed to get rid of the playing field all together and it would work as intended if poor people weren't stupid as fuck
It's the wealthy elites constantly trying to push cultural marxism down our throats, not the poor.

No matter who gets in we should expect slimy bills passed that will attack online freedoms.

The primary issue with democracy is that it's not a political process that's supposed to do what's right, it's supposed to keep the majority of the people happy. Democracy is based off a fallacy if it's trying to accomplish what's best since what's best isn't what most people agree with.

But no modern country has democracy, they have representative democracies where a separated class of political players compete to be the most appealing to the most people. Politicians are notoriously disconnected from the struggles of the citizens and it gets worse when the entire system is a bunch of nepotistic corruption. 360 million people in the USA and the wife of an ex-president is the one who makes it in? Bullshit.

The appeal of Trump to many is that he's not a professional politician but even then to have a shot at presidency and to enter this political class he had to be one of the most famous, wealthiest and powerful people in the country.
