I've got a 5X and I'd recommend it. With the Fi plan it's stupid cheap for what you get. Some people don't like the plastic but I think it's got a great in hand feel, and I'm a lot less critical of a $200 phone than an $800 phone.

Top tier camera, upper-mid tier performance (you can definitely tell when the 808 has to throttle but 98% of the time the thing is buttery smooth), and killer software.

Be careful with that depending where you get it. I got one and the front proximity sensor only worked half the time. Most it would shut off the screen when making a call and stay off. Couldn't end calls and shit.

Ended up being the hole in the front glass was painted too dark and triggered the sensor even when nothing in front of it.

I fixed it and that but damn was it a PITA. Battery life is fucking amazing though. Omg. The flaps for the ports suck ass. But a great phone overall, I miss it to be honest.

I currently have an S5 with an SD, a 2nd battery for trips or if I'm going to be out all day, running AICP. This is the experience I've wanted.
Some of the hardware is dated though. It stutters with some apps, the camera isn't amazing and the home button/fingerprint sensor is awful.

Is there anything at the same size (5-5.2) that has all the same features but with updated internal hardware? I know the S7 also has an SD but I'd be stuck on TW, and let me tell you, I have no plans going back to that hell hole.

What do people mean when they say that you must have the latest bootloader & modem? Where do I find this? I've always rooted all my phone and flashed ROM's and everything's worked a-okay .. except for today. Downloaded CM12.1 on my note 4 and wifi didn't work, read up online and someone suggested making sure my boatloader and modem were up to date but I has no clue what this means. Looking into a new phone with boost (US) and I had a few questions. It would be my first true smartphone and I'd need it to last a while so I want to get it right. I've been looking into a J7 and I'd like to know:

Does it suffer from the same battery issues as the S7? How does the hardware handle heavy loads? How well does it run compared to the new J3? Will I set myself on fire? What issues can I expect? Should I just spend my 200 smackers on an old iphone?
