Can a rpi handle both torrenting AND hd playback? Ive seen it perform well with either but I kinda doubt it has enough juice to do both simultaneously. On the bright side I would only use it to permaseed ~50 big torrents to farm BP and host my own uploads, so very low activity regarding torrenting.

I use a raspberrypi as a seedbox and stream movies from it at the same time.
The transfer speed is the biggest issue and it buffers if the bitrate is too high.
It handles around 180 torrents before slowing down. I'm using deluged though so it'd probably be better with rtorrent.

I have it connected to an external hard drive. It's running raspian. I use deluge as my torrent client and I use samba to share files from it.
I don't know what kodi is. I'd probably recomend going with rtorrent instead of deluge for performance reasons though.
I haven't really experimented much so my setup is probably nowhere near close to optimal.
