Why the FUCK would a company care about the gender they hired as long as they performed well in the job? This goes for tech companies, manufacturing, hell even fast food. If you can do your job better than the other candidates for the position, you should (and probably will) get the job. There is no patriarchy oppressing women in any industry, none. A hiring manager at a company that hires a less-competent male over a female is probably going to end up without a job.

Literally the only reason women aren't involved more in technology is because they couldn't give a fuck about it when they're interested in other less-analytical fields. The biggest STEM college in my state has a 20:1 male-to-female ratio, bot because they don't enroll females, but because women don't fucking apply there because they would rather go to the biggest party college in my state where the ratio is close to 1:1.

Saying that more women need to be in tech is like saying we heterosexual men in the hair-design industry. It's unappealing to them so it won't happen.

I used to be a public accountant many years ago. We had a few women in our office and I worked with a few who came from other cities. For the most part the woman and us men stuck together. We were different and everyone understood that. We all still joked around with each other, had respect, ect.
Fast forward to my last years working there. Women had significant presence in office. Young women were moving up to higher positions. More HR complaints (actually in all my years working this was never a big issue until recent times). Breaks got more strict because three women would talk for so long (somehow a couple of male new hires for the blame). Time to complete jobs went up, harder to discipline workers (having a strict talk with new hires was kinda fun)
The jobs we took had more females working, they would make it awkward when i would pressure them for more information. Everything was getting out of hand. All of the "good" women working seemed to get overshadowed.
