I am in a introductory course for computer science and I'm not quite sure on how to proceed. We're supposed to write a algorithm in pseudocode using iteration that multiplies the first 11 integers, 1*2*3*4*5...*10*11 and then write the result as output. How would this pseudocode look like?

I'm using chromium 64 bit and I'm having YouTube troubles. Some videos will play in HD while most do not, only giving me 360p. I've tried using some extensions like ViewTube, but no luck. Even videos on Twitter immediately give me the "The media could not be played." error.

I got an external HDD case thingy that I'm planning to put my old HDD with windows on it into to transfer some data to my new HDD with windows on it.

I had ES file explorer to access a network drive I put in my apartment and it worked.... But ES went to shit. I tried using astro but it won't accept credentials (I don't know what it's asking for in domain/workgroup)

Any suggestions for an android file explorer that can access a network drive?
>>
>>56938025
Read your motherboard's manual. Also keep in mind that x16 has two meanings, one for the physical size and another for speed.

>>56938114
Depends on what kind of rules your course uses for pseudocode. You might have to use a while loop instead of for loop. Also you can replace i++ with i = i + 1 to make it look less advanced

>>56938160
If you're using windows 8 or 10 then fast boot might cause issues, you should consider disabling that before you remove the drive. Other than that it should work fine.

Depends. Black friday deals have been getting shittier, but we're close enough it probably wouldn't hurt to wait. But if you see a really good price for something on slickdeals between now and then, or you end up in the same city as a microcenter you might as well jump.

I've been debating back and forth on if I want to get a 1080p 144hz monitor or if I should just pay more for a 1440p 144hz monitor.

>>
>>56938632

>>
>>56938628
Should be fine, depends how high frame rate you want. Go research some benchmarks.
>>
>>56938628
1070 is a good fit for that resolution.
>>
>>56938477
I had the same problem as you. I ended up just splurging on a 1440p 144hz monitor (asus pg279q, which has everything you could possibly need) and I didn't regret it once. It's very worth it. The refresh rate is a must at this point and the extra screen space is great, games look fantastic.

I would just suggest you not get one that's bigger than 27'' if you have a normal desktop setup. Mine already feels gigantic, any bigger and it'd be annoying I think.

Can't say how the 1070 does though, sorry. The 1080 handles 1440p at 144fps pretty well on lots of games. Sometimes games are just poorly optimized though.
>>
>>56938628
Depends on what you want and how much income you have. 1080 would allow you to keep that 144fps without having to crank settings down too much but 1070 is good too.
>>
I need to build a backbone/UTM for my home network. I have about 330Mbps download/30Mbps upload traffic with my ISP. Will either of these be able to handle itself as a UTM? My Pentium N3700 board can't even break 100Mbps either way as a UTM, so I had to take it out of service.
http://pcpartpicker.com/list/2nNfd6
or this
http://pcpartpicker.com/list/RWKyWX
Also, the 10GbE is for internal networks brigde only and will not be filtered by the UTM.
>>
>>56938690
Personally I have a 27" and sometime I wish I'd gone bigger. It really only felt huge at first, now everything else just seems really small. I think the high refresh rate is really only worth it if you lean really heavily on fps games, but it does look nice.
>>

Thanks anons.

The only games I want max frames at are multi player like rocket league, counter strike and games like insurgency, etc. Single player games 60 is fine.

I use listit for the first one and save file to for the the second one on firefox, but can't seem to find some that would do the same for chrome.

Follow-up question, I did just that and it works fine, except for one thing. I'm on windows 7 by the way, both HDDs.

I have some data I need left in the old HDDs documents folder (the one in the user directory). When I try to open that however, a popup comes up telling me that I need permission for that, but the little popup lets me adjust it right then and there.
However when I do that it just loads forever. It lets me back out of that just fine, but it never seems to finish loading whatever it's doing.

I am looking for a cheap skylake motherboard and I am currently looking at ASUS H110M-K

ASUS promises PCIe 3.0 and overclocking on this board, but the internet says that H110 chipset cannot do either.

Is ASUS lying?
>>
>>56939356
No on the PCIe stuff, the PCIe 3.0 lanes they're referring to come directly from the CPU itself, NOT the chipset. The chipset also has dedicated PCIe 2.0 lanes.
No Skylake motherboard has been able to overclock non-K CPUs since this year, so you might be looking at outdated marketing material.

On certain motherboard, you can only adjust the BCLK. The unlocked core multiplier is exclusive to the Z chipsets.
I don't think any of the AM4 boards will have that restriction.

I received my Neewer NM-700 and a Behringer UM-2 in the mail today and I don't know why it's giving me so many issues.

For some reason, I can't use this as the microphone on TeamSpeak. Every time I select it (Line [2- USB AUDIO CODEC]) and attempt to test it and fix the settings, TS either crashes or gives me an Error. I attempted using the old Behringer drivers instead, but keep receiving an installation error. I can get around it sort of by starting tests with my headset selected, switching to my mic, figuring out where the levels need to be, and switching back to my headset to make changes, but even that's has issues and occasionally crashes my headset drivers. Does anybody have ANY idea what to do?

OK, I have no idea how to find out what's available in slovenia. For what you're trying to do though, I wouldn't expect it to cost more than 700-800 euro, if your country doesn't price gouge. You would want something with an SSD, an i5 or i7 6xxxU cpu, and ideally IPS screen. Asus and dell are good, acer is ok, low end HPs sometimes have flimsy cases, and lenovo likes to include malware but the hardware is good if you don't care.

This has been asked time and time again but pity me for I'm a lowly C#/Java developer.

But a friend and I want to foray into smartphone apps. I know to submit apps and what not I need to buy a developer license.

But what do I need to get started? What are most apps programmed in or rather, what's the best most efficient app to program in? Apps are the bane of my existence but what methods of non intrusive apps are there to make small profits? Do I use the Android SDK for everything? Mainly though I'm hoping to receive answers that the language choice is up to me or I'm at least hoping it's Java or C++. Something I have experience with.

Swap our every instance of Android and replace with with Apple so I can guide my friend in the right direction as well.
>>
>>56939948
If they have been used for a long time, chances are that the cables have been bent. Bending damages the internal connections. I've experienced it firsthandedly with my favorite pair of headphones. After years of continued use, the jack's internal connections broke.
Don't do my same mistake anon, check these cables.

(Also, they may fry is used improperly. Be sure to double-check.)

Nigga, if you pull and bend metal wires too much, they snap. Didn't you learn this is chemistry?

Also, oxidation can still happen inside the insulating layer.
>>
>>56940046
You're not understanding that those cables are directly connected to the prongs that go inside of the wall and make direct contact with the contacts inside of whatever they power. Wires can't fry. They can corrode and stop transmitting power I guess. Bending power wires really doesn't do anything. Power still get's transmitted.

It's not pointless to test them because the connections do have a very slim chance to get loose or be faulty all together but this is standard high assurance QC.

Now it only has a 3 year warranty compared to internal 5 year, but honestly 3 years is more than enough. Drives that lasted more than a year for me last quite a while. The ones that fail are less than a month old.

But yea, I'm confused as to why they are so much more cheaper than the internal when its usually the other way around (more portable)

What is the better function declaration?

is_substring(big_string, searched_substring)

or

is_substring(searched_substring, big_string) ?
>>
>>56941281
On the assumption that substring is usually short and big_string is big, I'd go with is_substring(searched_substring, big_string) because seeing that in your code tells you instantly what the substring and big_string are, while the other one results in the big_string pushing the substring out of the screen forcing you to scroll to the right to see the substring.

Nigga, that's NOT a WD Black drive. That's a WD Passport drive that's Black. It's a 2.5" mobile drive, probably a WD Blue that's proprietary to the Passport series (take it apart and there is no SATA interface at all, just a proprietary USB controller built into the drive's PCB. It's not very fast (unless you consider ~100MB/s peak read to be fast) compared to the actual WD Black (which is ~190MB/s peak).

I've got a gaming PC too which I want to add more storage options.

I've got a 500GB SSD for installs and a 2TB HDD for media (movies, TV, music, porn, etc).

I'm thinking about getting a 128GB M.2 drive for my OS, basic programs (browser, Steam, Winamp, etc) and my Adobe shit, reserving the entirety of the SATA SSD for games.

I also want to greatly expand my media storage. I basically want enough storage capacity that I don't have to worry about it and even 2TB just isn't enough. I've thought about a dedicated NAS but it seems superfluous since the only streaming I do is straight to my TV and my case has plenty of drive cages (which can be upgraded to hot swaps). But I don't know how I should configure it. RAID? UnRAID? JBOD? Just plug a bunch of drives in and have drives from C: to K:?

You might notice a difference, and moreso when using an amp with portable devices. But if your mobo has pretty good audio and no interference you may be underwhelmed by a dac. My friend is trying to play a game and she's getting a message saying her graphics driver is out of date so it won't run. She's on a laptop and just has Intel (R) HD Graphics 4000 as her only item under Display Adapters. Win 7 64. Using TeamViewer I tried auto-updating and manually updating the driver (which is out of date by about 4 years) and it would never take hold, always giving some form of error. If I uninstall that driver so I can forcibly install a newer one, is her laptop going to stop displaying anything on the monitor?

Compression. The meter is telling you how much you're downloading of uncompressed data. But it sends it over the wire compressed to save you time and them bandwidth.

Also as someone who lives 1 mile from the edge of where FiOS is available, I'm jealous of those speeds. I have a choice between cable, DSL and cellular.

I’m torn between getting a 4 bay external enclosure + raspi which is $150 + $35 or building a nas which would run around $230. All of this is not including drives.

I want to be able to run 24/7 irc and rtorrent and able to run openvpn whenever I connect to internet outside of the house to tunnel through my connection. I want to also host my plex media directory on this device. Hosting the plex server on the device is only a plus seeing as I am totally alright with using my desktop as the hosting server and just using the device as storage for the directory. I will be the only one accessing this device and it is not meant to serve anyone but me so usb 2.0 will not bottleneck me.

Because Windows search is ass and the new start menu is ass. Get Classic Shell same as you would in Windows 8. It's far better. Hierarchical program list. Search that works right and doesn't take so long to produce results. Jump lists. Fly-out control panel items list. Direct power/sleep button.

Alright /g/ help. My Surface Pro 3 decided to update and somehow failed halfway, giving me this screen. I tried everything to fix it, including creating a bootable USB, changing where the device boots from (USB>SSD instead of SSD Only), and even disabling secure boot. Pressing volume down + power button does nothing and pressing the Windows Key does nothing. The USB was in Fat32 format so what did I do wrong? Pressing F8 and F9 makes me screen flicker black for about a second and that's it. Am I fucked?

Hey friends.

I've just started a programming course on university and i'm supposed to do a CGI script. But I can't open my CGI scripts in my browser.

Anyone know why?

This is the message i get

"couldn't create child process: 720002: mos-me.cgi"

a quick search online says it has something to do with

>#!/usr/bin/env python

which is written in the top of the code, unfortunately my teacher have for no reason not told me wtf this is just that I am supposed to write it like that when i start coding.
>>
>>56946453
No, seriously.

My distro can't into Wine, either.
>>
>>56946535
actually it might have nothign to do with #!/usr/bin/env python

since I can open just text based .py scripts in the browser but not .cgi, using the same "#!/usr/bin/env python"
>>
>>56946502
I like it. But I'm thinking more of something I can print out. Like a picture of Gaben but be hardware/microsoft related because I basically work with Windows 7 all day. Bill Gates?
>>
>>56946607
A windows 10 logo. Then your customers will see it and possibly pay you more to help them upgrade. Add Cortana to the side of it.

I've been going with the ISO 8601 standard, which uses four digits for the year: 2016-10-05

>>56946634
That just sounds gay. I mean we already get people that want us to upgrade their computers for them. We charge $80 and I instantly get $40 of it.

I have a sketchy deep cycle lead acid battery from a UPS (actually 2 12 volt, 8Ah seriesed together), but it's almost completely discharged. Can I charge it just by hooking up virtually any 24v (or 12v if I separate them) to the terminals, or is it more complicated than that?

There any free open source applications to manage amazon cloud drive? All I can find are monthly fee services.
>>
>>56946649
You could have the month as abbreviation. So for example 2015-DEC-26. It ensures that even americans will understand which unit is which. Only problem is that it doesnt sort that well by it's own, you'll have to develop a specific method to sort them.

Or just use a locale-spefic format.

You can charge it with 12.9 and up, higher voltages will charge faster
You want to stop charging before the battery reads 14 volts

What windows ide will let me pass arguments to main, like gcc does.

Googled the problem, possibly motherboard shorting, or CMO battery is fucked
>try booting outside of case, make sure all cables are in properly
Nothing

Nothing

But.
If i wait a few hours, it just works fine again, until the next time i leave it off for a while then try to start it back up.
What gives?

>>56947106
What's most important to you? Low price, quality audio, good mic, port, construction?
>>
>>56947247
I would say the actual audio quality and construction would be the most important. But I would like an ok mic too.
Port type really wouldn't matter right?

And I wouldn't be afraid to shell $100 or so as long as the sound quality is good and it's comfortable to wear.

From my limited understanding it seems better to buy a dedicated pair of headphones and attach a separate mic than buy a dedicated "gaming" headset. Or is that just a meme.
>>
My idiot friend used my USB drive containing some school assignments as a Linux install disk, overwriting everything.

Is there any way to recover overwritten files? Probably not. But I can ask.
>>
>>56947406
Overwritten will be impossible
It is possible but unlikely that some files could have not been overwritten and are recoverable with photorec/testdisk
>>
>>56947433
I'm 99% sure they were overwritten. It was a 500mb image written over a few megs of image files.

Guess it's a lost cause. The fucker hasn't even apologized for doing it yet. But that's not a /g/ story now is it
>>
>>56947354
Most "gaming" headsets are garbage with a pretty design, if you look hard enough some are nice. The best pair I've found for cheap would be the Gamecon 780. Plastic headband is the first thing to break, but it's comfy and GODLY microphone for the price, bass is flat af tho. $50
