So I have a weird problem.

I use 2 Monitors. One is connected to the motherboard's iGPU (Secondary) the main is connected to the GPU (R9 390)

The reason is to keep the power usage/temperature down. (GPU idles at 35C° now instead of 55C°)

But now I cannot use Photoshop for editing since it strictly needs one GPU to work with. Therefor I need to plug out the secondary monitor and into the GPU to work properly.

Is there another way to avoiding plugging in and out cables?

I recently started using Ungoogled Chromium. The spellcheck doesn't work (enabled it manually, comes disabled by default), the cookie management works sometimes only, can't make it my default browser, among other tiny inconveniencies. What gives? Is this just the nature of forks? I can't go back to FF now, this shit is ridiculously fast compared to it. Am I going to have to succumb to the Chrome botnet and get it over with?

Im trying to dual boot my computer with El Capitan and Windows 10. i got OS X to boot, got the graphics drivers straight, and have sound but I cannot get my ethernet to work for the life of me. No packages have worked, ive tried every kext that I can find and still nothing. When looking at network diagnostics it flashes between a red light saying failed and a green light before saying "Network change detected, Your network configuration has changed, Click OK to proceed to the next step" over and over again, wut do

Maybe some sort of switch box exists, but the real solution is to disable your autism and just run your monitors off the 390, idling at 55C won't do it any harm.

I've had LAN issues with W10 too. Does the NIC work if you shutdown the PC, unplug it, wait a few minutes and then boot straight into OS X?

On my system (Intel I217-V) W10 does some funky shit with the NIC and makes it unusable under Linux and even older versions of Windows (7 & 8.1, nothing ancient) until I go through what I explained above. Clearly it leaves it in some sort of state that the other drivers don't know about and can't properly turn it back on after a W10 reboot, but cutting power completely must reset the NIC entirely and as such it works. I've been able to determine that at the very least when the NIC is fucked up no packets actually end up on the cable, despite Linux claiming they were sent.

Hey guys, need a little help. I've currently moved in with some cunts who just upgraded from 100mb/s to the 'Virgin Gamer 200mb/s No Strangling' package.

I get about 200mb/s on my macbook, but shit speeds on my rig and PS4. My PS4 tested out at 6mb/s and my rig at 3.1mb/s. The cunt in charge of the internet only has a macbook. Am I being fucked or is this just some issue with my hardware or something. I have a USB wifi-receiver, but not a network card.

Is $130 for a latitude E4310 a good price? Trying to buy a used laptop off friends and got offered this. I have a powerhouse desktop, I got an elitebook 8440p off craigslist in maybe 2013 for $200 but it shit the bed and just need something for basic on-the-go use.
Also might as well ask while I'm here... whats the cheapest laptop with an actual GPU (or what can I expect to pay for one?), even a lowend one? I use Touchdesigner for work and won't launch unless it detects an actual GPU, I have my desktop for actual 3d work but want to be able to use TD on the go to just work on my python and scripting (which is annoying it requires a GPU even if you have no intention of doing any actual graphical/3d work with it).

970 seems somewhat safe since no miner would want that piece of shit.
Honestly though used can get you some decent deals on ebay or craigslist, but unless it is a good deal, it is usually a better idea to get a gpu that supports the latest meme apis.

Mine can't support dx11 and though I have used it for many years I do wish I had been able to get a dx11 card at the time.

Any enterprise server guys around?

In a large scale enterprise network, if you have a web server, application server or database server, are you doing any sort of network filtering at all?

For instance if you know that your database server is only going to be accessed by your application servers, do you define anything on the database server to say that only the network segments your application servers are on can speak to your database servers and traffic from other sources is dropped?

Or if your web servers only talk to end clients and your application servers do you do anything to prevent web servers from being able to communicate to eachother?

Or is all of that sort of communication limiting on the firewall/network in your organization?

look into stuff like plex.or basically any server /daemon based media software. I know owncloud will let you stream video/music from the client in android too. If it's locally you can just connect to the local ip:port or user@hostname if it's not you need to forward the port and use dynamic dns assuming you don't have a fixed ip at your disposal.

are all your other computers resolving correctly besides these two? I had like four computers with various network issues after win10 upgrade at work so you are not alone.

>>56929366
I understand that. It's a modem+router combo device. I'm not sure what that has to do with my question, though. The ping to the modem is higher than the ping to other devices that are connected to the modem. How is that possible? The ping has to hop to the modem before hopping to the device, does it not?

I had a desktop that I stopped using Chrome with a couple years ago on due to memory leaks and switched to Firefox. Recently moved and got a laptop and thought I'd try chrome out bc I use mostly google/botnet services and thought it would be lower resources out of box. I have 8GB and it's maxing out

Is there a way to remedy this? There's 48 instances of "chrome.exe" running

It could be functioning as a switch. The router assigns IP addresses, but packets going to local devices would not have to go through the router portion of the device, only the switch portion.

Thanks. I think I'm still a bit confused, though. Even if the modem/router is functioning as a switch for the ethernet-connected devices, why would the ping to the modem from those ethernet-connected devices still be over 1ms? Shouldn't the ping to a modem from an ethernet-connected device always be 1ms or less?

Use a VPN. At my university, if they detect torrent traffic they will block your account from getting internet access. To turn it back on they make you bring your computer to the campus IT staff where they will search your computer and remove any p2p programs. I don't torrent on their network, but I still use a VPN often.

I have an XPS 13 9350 Developer's Edition with the 1080p display, an i5-6200U and 8GB of RAM running Debian Testing.

The aluminum Dell uses for this thing is really freaking hard. Very little to no flex when closed, display flexes a little, but it feels solid regardless. It won't scratch or dent easily, but it will still happen. Soft touch wrist rest is cool, but it collects fingerprints. Keyboard is okay. I would not type on it for extended periods of time, but I type on Topre. It's pretty much silent unless I boot up some gaymes or whatever. It stays warm with extended use. Battery is pretty good even on Linux, I get 7-8 hours browsing. Hasn't let me down yet.

XPS 13 will get you more battery life because of the larger battery (60Wh on the Kaby Lake XPS 13 vs 53.6Wh on the Razer Blade) and because of the lower resolution display options. The slot handles up to 8? and you're asking to put either a 8 or a 4 in it?

You can run a 4 and an 8 together. Though it's usually more recommended to run matching sticks.
>>
>>56931607
I just heard that if I put an 8 with a four it'll basically cap the 8 at whatever the slower stick is

>>56931616

How do they know it's intentional?

Yes. But it caps it's speed. Not it's capacity.
So a 1600 4GB stick with a 2400 8GB, will give you 12GB at 1600.
The speed lowers to the slowest.
The capacity in this case, 4GB or 8GB doesn't really matter.
>>
>>56931614
no bruh, you're thinking about timings, a slower stick will cap the speed of a faster stick, but capacity has no effect on each other, other than to be cumulative

For 40MHz mode it's effectively using two 20MHz channels at once, plus has the extra 20MHz at a higher frequency than the main 20MHz channel it uses for devices that don't support 40MHz, minus makes it use the channel below.

Doesn't really make much difference either way in most use cases.

Last month I got a contract with a cellphone provider for a SIM card that provides me with 30gb of internet a month. My father got me pic related and I've since then been using these two to go online. The thing is, yesterday I lost connection and when I phoned the provider they told me I've used all of my GBs. This doesn't make sense at all, since I've been using it for youtube and 4chan mostly and maybe like 5 hours of WoW total. Windows says I've used less than 4GB during the ast 30 days. Also, I've been using mostly ethernet to connect and sometimes I turn on the router's wifi to connect using my phone, but it is secured with a password I've never shared with anyone (WPA2-Personal). I've ran a scan with both Avast and Malwarebytes and nothing came up. Any clue as to what might be causing this?

Data transfer is measured in Gb, storage in GB.
b is a bit, B is a byte, meaning eight bits.
You've used those 80 Gigabits up, lel.

Not comparable, the quality of the signal depends on the wiring in your house.
Oh, but I do wonder if the frequency AC uses affects the speeds, actually.

It'll be slower than wired but more reliable than wireless.
>>
>>56934771
Not sure if you're trolling because I'm not very familiar with the topic, but I'm pretty sure it was 30 gigabytes of data I could download (or upload) in a month. The price is 30 euros per month, if that helps figure stuff out.

I've been trying to solve this for like 6 hour straight.

How does monitor overclocking work?

To be precise, if my display works with a particular refresh rate using lower than native resolution, will it work with the same refresh rate and native resolution? Or is it the same way as it was with CRTs where the higher the resolution was, the lower the refresh rate?

I have a 1440p display that I found out by accident works with 75hz in 720p just fine, but I can't test it with native resolution until I finish building my new PC because my laptop can't even output 1440p at 60hz, much less anything higher.

Not necessarily in the market to buy, but was interested and checked the resource on the sticky for a tablet page, and found this (it was the only android-specific excerpt):

https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Portables
>Nexus 9 has stock Lollipop android, a great screen and is sleek and fast. Also comes with goodies like OTA updates. Beware if you care about software freedom because the Nexus 9 is tied to Google (obviously.)

What does it mean "if you care about software freedom"? I have complaints about the android version on my current tablet, but I want to stick with android, I think. Does the lack of "software freedom" mean google observes everything I do on my tablet no matter what? Or does it just mean no rooting? Or something else?

Anyone know whats wrong here? Dropped my phone like 3 weeks ago and broke the screen. It wouldnt light up, but i could still unlock it and open apps. Got a micro usb to hdmi cable to cast the screen to my monitor, only to find out i cant use the touch screen anymore for some reason. Got the big adapter in the pic so i can cast the screen and plug my mouse in, and nothing happens. If i plug it into my new phone (same model as broken one) it works perfectly. I can see my screen, unlock it, use my mouse, etc. Why wont it work with my broken one? The buttons light up when i plug the adapter in, so phone is connecting to it. I think i can use my mouse as well, but im not 100% sure as i cant see anything

You shouldn't use utorrent anyway. After they silently installed that bitcoin miner with a utorrent update a year or two ago you should've jumped ship from them entirely.

I use qbittorrent which I heard was on-par with a few others for Windows, but there's another I forget the name of that is supposedly the best of them all but is Linux exclusive. Which is the standard for some private seeding or whatever sites.
