Update wise, you can always get Cyanogenmod, and I really doubt the S8 is some kind of breakthrough in battery life.

Not to mention that the S8's ROM will probably get ported to the S7 Edge, just like the Note 7 ROM got ported to the S7's too.

Hey so my dad (who is a IT tech worker) needs to get a new phone. His current one is old and is apple shit.
We bit the bullet and went full mint distros with our desktop/laptop systems. I also want him to save money too. Right now we are both on a verizon plan I have a note 4 that I am paying off. I regret doing that because I know now I can get the same functionality for $100-200 dollar phone and not be a bitch to Verizon and their payment plans.

For Android, as long as the phone has a Qualcomm or Exynos CPU, it probably has some ROM available.
If it's one of the big ones, it definatly has many.

A replacing the screen on a z3 isn't a good idea, it's easy but the whole back and front is glued in place. Glued parts act funny sometimes after repairs and that would be it for the water resistance unless the guy is very-very pro. Oh and btw 120 for a 30-50 dollar screen plus work fee is a bit too much.

Ive already bought it, Thats pretty much the reasons I got it, bought a lot of things i have problems with. Many apps are poorly designed and very buggy. If youre a normie that wants snapchat then youre in for a bad time, but i dont really care. Syncing with OneNote very easily is nice. Being able to press a button and go straight to a certain website or a specific board on 4chan, specific page on a certain app is nice. Also the parts to replace it are incredibly cheap. I broke the screen two weeks ago, just bought a chink version of the screen and was easily able to replace it. Took me like 15 minutes to do and I was very slow and careful about it.

NONE of them fit. Even from known brands like Zagg and Belkin (Belkin is literally sold in the fucking Apple store) the screen protectors they make don't fit the phone correctly.

How do you colossally fuck up so bad that even the screen protector Apple sells in their own store doesn't fit their product correctly?

The same problems exists for every other screen protector maker. If you look on amazon at any iPhone 7 screen protectors, there will be reviews on every single one saying it doesn't fit right.

I've owned an equal amount of Android phones and iPhones. Every iPhone I've had has always lasted me 2 years, ran just as fast as the day I got it. Every Android I've had ran beautifully for a year and then by the end of the second year would have a horribly crippled battery life, and everything slows down. My guess is slightly curved edges. Galaxy phones also have this problem. I had a tempered glass screen protector for my S6 that was made to fit the whole screen, but the edges obviously couldn't wrap around the curves leaving gaps, which led to a lot of facial oil seeping underneath the protector over time from long phone conversations . Was disgusting. Got one that only fits the parts it can flush to and now I don't have that problem.

I just got a galaxy note 4 and it was great out of the box. Then it got updated and the split screen apps only work with some apps when before it could work with any app by just dragging the corner down. Did they just fucking remove a feature in an update? Yes the one which is 2mm bigger is international and has more bands, but no official CM ROM although it seems possible with some tweaks.
China version has official CM support. But no 800 or 700 mhz bands.

It will work with your carrier but if they start using more bands (my carrier doesn't use 800 frequencies, but recently started adding 700 antennas), you would get better results with International for long-term use.

The only other difference is for protection cases, I can't find any for the 152mm version.

Redmi 3 and Redmi 3s are both 720p.
SD 616 is the "fixed" version of SD615 which is an overheating piece of shit.
