Audio setups are technology...
...and I have absolutely no knowledge about them whatsoever.
I'm looking to build a 2.1 setup for bass heavy music. I know what a subwoofer is, but that's about it. What does the subwoofer get connected to? What do I need for the higher ends?
Also show off your setup and provide specs so I know what to look into!

>What does the subwoofer get connected to?
Usually to your preamplifier or integrated amplifier's subwoofer out. Depends on the sub and the setup.
>What do I need for the higher ends?
Normal loudspeakers which fill the rest of the response. Your match the subwoofer's response to them by adjusting subwoofer's crossover frequency. That's the basic idea. Doing bass well in rooms is hard and usually costly. A single sub will help with the LF extension but doesn't necessarily sound too good unless properly adjusted. Room is much more important here and controlling the room modes appropriately at your listening position is the hard part.

Again, what? That thread isn't even related. Audio gear and reproduction is very much technology and much more fitting to this board than /mu/.
How much are you willing to spend?
