I have a T-Mobile variant LG G5, looking to switch to Cricket's unlimited data plan. The phone checks all the boxes I wanted (sd card slot, removable battery, will run nougat soon), but with a little research, I found that it isn't compatible with AT&T's LTE band 17.

How important is this band? Will I be missing out on a lot of coverage if I make the switch? If so, worse than T-Mobile's shitty wall penetration?

I'm using the CM13 stable. It's pretty damn good, so I'm hoping that CM 14 is going to be an improvement. My only complaints so far is that I need to have LiveDisplay on to have the screen turn off when I'm calling people and, oddly, the menu that checks what apps are loading at boot from freezes. I still have no idea what recovery I should be using either, but the version I have seems to work nonetheless.

Usually yes, rebooting the phone into recovery or fastboot and connecting it to a PC with Xiaomi PC companion (or however it's called) will usually prompt you to do a clean reflash of the actual stock ROM.

The battery life leaves a bit to be desired. Also, I have one and the wifi reception is shit. It continually drops it's connection to access points that my other phones in the past could hold with no problem, and the signal is worse even when it holds up, even from the same distance. I'm not sure if it's defective or due to software, or if it's even a widespread problem with V10s, but it's something to be wary of.

Ended up buying a Asus Zenpad 10 i got for same price 159. Spec wise its below the a10 but it has front firing stereo speakers, a brighter display with that thing asus does to reduce pixels and its much better looking and runs android M (though with ZenUI).

The only saving grace of those phones is the size. Sony's usually slow to update their phones, and rooting them means you kill the camera. I have the z5, and the screen on time is atrocious, plus apps suspend aggresively, like, i can't open google play music and any other app without it suspending. switched out my htc desire 1,5 months ago for a moto x pure, and gotta say it's an amazing phone.

huge screen is comfortable to watch movies on or read on, and gives a good overview of websites. not quite as comfortable to hold in the hand, but that's a much more minor thing. everything else about it is good too.

I just hope it eventually get's N update. lower screen res option for better battery life, splitscreen apps, nightmode, multilanguage keyboard ++ would be appreciated.

LG makes pretty decent phones...as long as nothing goes wrong with them.

The LG G4 has a major defect that causes a bootloop, and LG fails to recognize it. I sent my phone in for repair 2 months ago, and still have heard no word on the repair. Actually just called, turns out the parts are back ordered.
Either way, good phones, shitty company. I'm done with LG.

It's pretty smooth and fast, although I don't like the app drawer itself since it's not too customizeable outside of the size of icons.

As far as bloat goes, it's pretty sparse, even the typical facebook and instagram don't come preinstalled and must be installed manually. Even with all my apps installed, it still has more space than my last 32GB phone from a factory reset.

Fuck, what a great phone it was until it suddenly died out of fucking nowhere.
I've been stuck with the bootloop for one week and I've been trying all day to manually fix it with the LGMobile Support Tool since one phone repair shop and my phone provider failed to fix it.
But yeah, I'm so done with LG now. Even if it's only the G4 that sucks, their Support service fucking single-handedly told me to fuck off because my warranty expired only two months ago.

But I've seen some people on YouTube heating the insides of the phone and/or fucking putting the thing on the freezer. At this point I am not afraid of experimenting so I put the phone on a Ziploc bag then to the freezer for 5 minutes. After that the phone DID turn on but then freezes on the "update screen" at 0%.

Yup. I'm the same way, just completely finished with that company. Good luck fixing it, but odds are you won't have much luck. The motherboards are apparently on back order, and it's been 2 months already with no word. It still says "Repair in Progress" on their tracking site. The only reason I know anything more than that if from incessantly calling and emailing them to get an answer. So if never did that, I would have had no clue what was wrong with my phone.
