So are there any pilot style quartz watches with day date and small size (like 38-39mm)? Seems like this is a fucking impossible thing to ask for in a watch.
>>
>>56510291
Look at Citizen's Eco-Drive range.
>>
>>56510291

Define pilot style.

I also want a small watch with a clean face, gmt and date.

The only ones I like so far are the Sinn 6x series.

Can't really define it, as I don't even like the standard flieger style, but I'll give an example. Pic related is seiko snkh63. I love this watch. The only problem with it is that it's mechanical, and while I could live with it's accuracy, it broke down on me twice now and I'm fed up. I want quartz. There are similar quartz watches (field watch style I guess), but with no day.

Citizen BM8180. It's more of a field watch style but I think it will suit your needs. 37mm case, the strap is a bit stiff but it looks pretty good on a Bond nato.

I have to know, I know eco-drive is solar powered quartz, but is this watch user service-able?

What I mean is, does this use a regular quartz watch which they've found a way to recharge, or is there some kind of proprietary over-priced battery used you have to order from the manufacturer?

i'm conflicted, i like the face of the citizen more, but the movement of the seiko mech is smooth. i would love to have the snkk35, but don't want to order from chinkland. the citizen is a nice compromise though.

also wanted to give you a little idea of why i have this perspective - i'm a college student

i would never consider throwing 2k at something that isn't a car or a house/apt

however, if you are rich, and you want your tudor for the status alone, i would not buy it. most people don't even know that tudor is by rolex, and if you are in richer social circles they'll simply see you as having stopped short of getting the real thing.

less embarassing to not have one, than to have the half assed one. ofc it looks like a nice quality watch to you and me, because it really is. some snobby fucker won't think so though ("SHITTER SHITTER SHITTER")

What's the general consensus on strap adapters for g-shocks? I want to replace the shitty factory strap on mine with a nato or zulu one, and I'm seeing that I can either get a cheap plastic/resin adapter, or a steel one for almost as much as I paid for the watch itself.

Also, perhaps there's a eurofag here who knows where to buy those fuckers in yurop, because all the sources I can find are in the US and it's gonna take forever to ship.

I used to have this Raketa GMT which I bought for 50€ and got rid of it for 90€ when I decided to sell all my slavshit to purify my collection.
Was a good deal and the watch was accurate ass fuck (+-1s every day) but I don't miss it.

How are they for quality, though? They look kinda flimsy in the pictures, and I don't know exactly how tough the material used for 3d printing is.

>>56515463

I certainly wouldn't describe them as super tough, but they are certainly stronger than the typical resin adapters out there.

For toughness you arent going to beat the steel ones, but they aren't cheap. The Shapeways are cheap, and look better to me.
>>
>>56515512
Well, I was gonna settle for a resin adapter anyway, so if these are at least as durable, that's good enough for me. Besides, the factory strap is rubber/resin, and it's kept up rather nicely in terms of durability, so I guess this should work. I assume they fit all g-shocks, or are there specific models for certain watches?

to me it was like the perfect sized gun, and its concealable. i just am having trouble deciding between m9 civvie model or the bersa, i can't see anything wrong with them considering my small use case (i'm not a gun nut, just need something that werkz)

was leaning towards an AR too, as I have seen the ridiculous amount of parts, i guess compatibility with literally anything is > than the AK clones

will look into ruger though, as the only thing I knew around that price was the sw mp15

Not him also, but I'm going to comment on this subject.

>Omega is 20% of Rolex effort for 80% of Rolex prices.

Are you sure? What's your source of this info? And more importantly, are you talking from experience? Have you ever owned either of the two?

Omega is a brand with a marketing department full of bullshit, yes, but also is Rolex. Have you seen the "It's takes a whole year to make a Rolex" campaign?

That doesn't mean any of those two make bad watches. On the contrary, both made excelent tiempieces for the price asked, but Omega actually delivers more bang for your money.

For example, the finishing of the movement of my sapphire sandwich Speedy is quite better than the finishing of any sport movement from Rolex, both being sold as "instrument watches" both Omega is considerably cheaper; Cellini being the obvious exception, being at a tie.

Don't judge Omega solely on the basis that it now belongs to Swatch and the bad things said on the internet, you should buy one and I guarantee you'll change your mind the moment you strap it on your wrist.

>Swatch Omega is unfit to even be mentioned in the same breath as JLC

Besides Speedys, which use an old Lemania based movement (which is now just blinged out with Rhodium), I don't find anything in Omega's modern lineup desirable.

That's a matter of taste, not of quality.

Simply put, I own a Milgauss and the Seamaster Aqua Terra 15,000 gauss is tempting the fuck out of me.
>>
>>56522446
Couple of fellas have already asked me this irl but since I have yet to use -and abuse a little- of one, I can't yet tell.

There's pros and cons of having a new movement, an in-house in particular, but that precise caliber is yet to be tested.

What I can tell you is that I have a new bronze Black Bay and till todya, I have found it very reliable.

Forget about the "in-house" fad in the industry. If a movement is good, then great, if not, doesn't matter is its exclusive or not.

Remeber the Patek Philippe 5970 -of which there is a nice article right now at Hodinkee-, has also a Lemania based caliber in its interior.

Well, when the case, bracelet and dial finishing on an Aqua Terra are obviously inferior to a Seiko Brightz when comparing both up close and personal (as I have), it tends to leave a bit of a bad impression on you.

Personally, I loathe all Maxicase Rolexes, but having handled a few up close its certainly obvious that rhe case dial and bracelet finishing are simply on another planet than the Omega's I've handled.

Personally, I care very little for movement decoration and much more for its engineering prowess, and for me modern Omega will never reach the heights that were attained with the 56x/75x movement and the Lemania 5100 Speedmasters.

Incidentally, as you are wealthy enough, you should get a holy grail speedy (Lemania 5100 in a moonwatch case, for those who don't know).

Hi there!

You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of 4chan are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!

Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bit to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture!

>>
>>56527753
There are no straight chink copies but there are fake parts like the blue dial and hands pictured while the rest of the watch was procured elsewhere, with rumors pointing to being stolen from the factory during hardship or something of that nature. The other two ones previously posted are frankensteins. An all original Raketa is only worth around $60 in good shape depending on exact model, so imagine what a shit fraken one *should* be worth.
>>
>>56527921
>There are no straight chink copies
Brand new cases and dials and non-Raketa movement would say otherwise. They're only sold on one website though and not really widespread on ebay.
>>
I think im going to have to throw this fake mihil tourbillion away.

I have to get to the front to fix a loose piece but after seeing this shit I dont think I can do it. I already dont know how to assemble it back together.
>>
>>56527932
Not widespread on Ebay? There are tons of these questionable watches there. An exact copy of the case or movement isn't likely for the Chinese, but perhaps modified like the converted 12 to 24 hour movements found on these watches being a good example. The current Raketa company has openly condemned these watches before, meaning large numbers of parts escaped the factory at some point, and possibly they're trying to hide their previous dubious attempts at saving the company from going under.

Hacking seconds isn't much of a useful feature when you're buying a mid-range memenichal. As for handwinding, as long as you don't own 40 watches and aren't a fat neckbeard who doesn't do anything with his life, it's not needed, plus it comes with its own issues.

If you want a really cheap mechanical, save some $30 more and get a Vostok Amphibia for $55 + $15 shipping. I wouldnt recommend any mechanicals from China under $100 (some affordable but QC-ed SeaGulls at least), and Vostok truly is the cheapest of the cheap but still quite regulatable. You can get it to up to 5 secs +- per day, after a month or two.
That, or get a vintage swiss mechanical and get it serviced and regulated, but you wont have a decent cheap mechanical for under $70 anyway.

I can't really start taking pics at my workbench, that would really be pushing it. But I'll try to find online pics though or post links.

Right now I'm working on my own shit, a Tissot 2481/Omega 1481. I just punched out the broken curb pin. I had to order a new balanc assembly and hairspring stud, but when I installed it I broke the regulator curb pin like some Creutzfeld-Jakob asshole. So more work for me, I either figure out how to make a new one without a lathe or order a NOS Tissot regulator.

It does but there's still some wear around the edges. I'm not sure if it's possible to replate it, the plating looks more as if the watch is made from rough, dark steel and the top has some really deep brushing that I'm not sure if it's in the plating or the base metal.

Monsters can still be found at sub-200$ range. The Gen2 pre-prospex SRP307 is beginning to be rare.

My only real issue with the SKX is finding a proper strap. I got the super oyster but i can't quite get used to the heft so next up i'll try something much more haram.

It's called a PVD coating and I can pretty much guarantee it'll start to rub off in under a year. Sinn makes the most durable black finishes out there, I hear. They're great watches, too. Out of your budget, though, if you're looking at MK. You probably don't want to hear it if you like the way an all-black watch looks, but just avoid them. They look angsty as hell and that one, in particular, looks pretty illegible.
>>56529892
Just pick up a nice, bright nato strap!
I would consider that, but I'm not big on getting into my watches. I'll pop it open to adjust the +/- lever or swap out a battery in a quartz...strap changes, too, of course. Anything else and I just know I'm gonna break something. Those tiny hands are too delicate for muh hamfists.
>>56530048
Casio don't make automatic watches. They make digital ones. They're popular because their watches are really really affordable and really really reliable. This guy >>56530004 had some good suggestions. The Bambino is classy as fuck. Check out the Casio Edifice (if you fancy a chronograph function) for a decent <$100 speedy lookalike. Hamiltons are pretty nice, too, even though people give them shit for being a part of the Swatch group now. If you can spend around $300, you can get a Jazzmaster Thinline or a Khaki on Jomashop. Also, see if you can find something used to save even a little more. Watchuseek has a great community of sellers and with a little patience you can find some great deals.
