Why do people need flagship phones?

Any mid range phone has at least a x720 screen, not few even x1080. That's sharp enough to not look pixelated. IPS or OLED so the display quality is at least good. You are not going to do any photo editing so the slightly better screen of a flagship doesn't matter.

Any modern mid range CPU and 2GB RAM are enough for a fluid experience with multitasking. Just what are you doing on your phone that you need the top of the line CPU and more RAM?

Now the camera is the weak point of cheap phones. However it's decent enough for showing off your lunch and selfies.

The battery life of most phones is good. If you are going on a long trip you should get a power bank anyways.

All phones look the same now so even a cheap phone looks fine.

I had a Moto G 2 and I recently upgraded to an Xperia Z3. While the phone is absolutely fantastic it really isn't justifiable.

We've reached a point where any entry level phone can do anything the top tier one can and with decent performance to boot.
