Can you legally let your self-driving car self-drive you home if you are plastered?
>>

Thabks a ton. Mate all fixed
>>
>>56459725
No
>>
>>56459725
Current self-driving cars still require the driver to maintain control of the vehicle and usually you're supposed to keep your hands on the wheel etc, so drinking would be a no-no. Our DUI laws haven't exactly been amended to account for them either. Give it another 5-10 years and they'll probably make some kind of exception as long as you lock it to autonomous mode, maybe even set a "drunk button" so you can't drift off and swerve the wheel or something.
>>
>>56459765
Current law in many places doesn't even allow you to sleep in your car when drunk, don't expect things to change that quickly.
>>
>>56459801
Yeah, I guess that's true, but then again self-driving car manufacturers could push it through as a marketing thing, like "look how many lives we can save from drunk drivers"

If I get a constant 144+ fps in L4D2, and I enable vsync to stop it from going to 300. Will this cause input lag?

Bump from previous thread

OK, so I’ve got a Pokémon SQLite database, data structured as so:

Table: Pokemon
id | name
------------------
1 | Bulbasaur
2 | Ivysaur
3 | Venusaur
4 | Charmander
...

Table: PokemonType
id | PkmnID | TypeID | Slot
----------------------------
1 | 1 | 5 | 1
2 | 1 | 8 | 2
3 | 2 | 5 | 1
4 | 2 | 8 | 2
5 | 3 | 5 | 1
6 | 3 | 8 | 2
7 | 4 | 2 | 1
...

and finally, Type
id | name
------------------
1 | Normal
2 | Fire
...
5 | Grass
...
8 | Poison
...

How do I join these tables to get this:
PkmnID | PkmnName | Type1 | Type2
----------------------------------------
1 | Bulbasaur | Grass | Poison
2 | Ivysaur | Grass | Poison
3 | Venusaur | Grass | Poison
4 | Charmander | Fire | -

The closest I’ve got is
select PkmnID, PkmnName, typename as Type1
from pokemon
join pokemontype on pokemon.id = pokemontype.pkmnid
join type on pokemontype.typeid = type.id
where pokemontype.slot = 1

which gives me
| PkmnID | PkmnName | Type1 |
|--------|------------|-------|
| 1 | Bulbasaur | Grass |
| 2 | Ivysaur | Grass |
| 3 | Venusaur | Grass |
| 4 | Charmander | Fire |

>>
>>56460746
That looks good ONLY if you can install DD-WRT on it. If you can't, then find a router that can.

DD-WRT can overclock your router and increase the transmitting power beyond FCC regulations. It also has better support, better QoS, more features, and better performance than most firmwares.
>>

Remove the Pokémon thing and then the neckberds may help you
>>
>>56460983
Installing it can take some knowledge (just general not-fucking-up skills, that's all). After that, you wouldn't need any more knowledge than what you need to set it up without DD-WRT.

FYI: Don't set the transmitting power to 251mW (the max the software will go), that's how literal house fires start.
>>
how come some things on amazon are way more money than the price at the store?
>>
>>56460983
No, but it's not impossible either. If you look up the basics and never touch anything you don't need you should be fine. As far as installing it goes, half the battle is finding the right router and guide.
>>
>>56461040
Because the sellers realize they can charge more and still make enough sales to be worth it.

Sadly, none of the AC series of TP-Link routers are supported (yet). I don't even know if DD-WRT has support for AC (yet).

Trying to install Discord (on Windows 7) and the computer locks up completely, no errors, no blue screen, no nothing. The mouse just stops moving and I am forced to hard reboot. Manually extracted the program from their shitty installer and ran the program's exe directly. Same thing happened. It flashes the little loading windows with the witty text "Installing more pylons" and then as soon as the main program window (or what I assume to be the main program window) loads, the computer immediately locks up, before it can even render anything in the window. Any ideas? Aside from reformatting.

Openvpn is a VPN protocol. Its the actual software system that connects and protects two linked networks or computers. PPTP and L2TP are the more common alternatives, and they're much more easily blocked. Some companies use only one type of VPN, others give you a choice. Openvpn is generally best. Never use PPTP.

I bought a laptop that "was fucked" for $40. Its not bad machine by any means, i3, 8gb ram etc.

Long story short, it has just a bad hard drive. Replaced it with a backup I had, installed Windows 7 (legally even), and now I can't get this damn thing to install any other updates. Whether using Windows update or from the site itself.

I understand Windows 7 update hangs are a common problem on fresh installs, but I can't seem to find a fix that works for me.

I have two dualshock 4 controllers. I have inputmapper installed on a brand new Skyake that is using a Windows 10 OS.
>I'm dual booting linux, using windows 10 for direct x only. pls don't derail.

If I try to pair either of my controllers when inputmapper is running, only one controller will pair. The other controller will not pair. It doesn't matter which controller I use, this is true for both controllers if I switch the order I pair them. No matter which controller I pair first, the other controller will not pair. If I close Inputmapper, I can pair both controllers, but then when I open inputmapper, neither controller will connect. They remain in a paired state.

What do?

>>
>>56461620
Well it's not that different than setting up a dual boot. You'll need to make space, if you don't have it already you'll need to shrink one of your existing partitions. You can make the partition in advance just to be on the safe side, then just install the new windows to it. When you're done use Grub2Win to restore grub as your bootloader. It also helps to use clonezilla or macrium to make a complete system image before you begin so you have a fallback if something goes wrong.

Ones supposed to logon with a username and password, which I know and am getting right, but only one authentication option in that config under the section matching its described encryption type is just a username and password(LEAP?), the others are various other crap I dont know and Im fairly sure isn't how its set up.
Yet, when I fill that in and attempt to connect, it then asks for a password in a new box, then asks for it again a few seconds later, ad infinitum, or just fails.
What do.
if the answer is install debian/arch/whatever, later. what do now?

No, the closest thing would be that Convenience rollup. If you don't mind being stuck with all the updates it includes, you can go for it. Weirdly though it doesn't seem to get Windows Update running much faster. Microsoft keeps messing things up pretty bad, so it's always possible they've up and changed the requirements again. But what you've got already should be enough if you let it run for a few hours.

ImgLikeOpera used to do this but it was last updated three years ago and with each new Firefox things stopped working until it failed completely with Firefox 48.
uMatrix can images (from domain, or only 3rd party and such) but you can't block/load specific images - just by host.
Policeman, like uMatrix, has image blocking capabilities but their image handling capabilities surpass uMatrix's.
With it you can right click a blocked image placeholder and click Copy Image Location and you'll get the image URL.
In uMatrix you try the same and you get: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==
How entirely useless.
Also, it adds a context menu item, when you right click a blocked image you can click Blocked Image -> Load Blocked image, and it will ignore your settings for that exact image and allow you to load it.
Unfortunately Policeman is not updated, buggy, and a huge memory hog.
I never had a problem with images loading when using uMatrix to block them. With Policeman sometimes images will start to load even if you set a block to (images) [any domain] - [any domain] (an example is images on Wikipedia)
My average memory consumption without Policeman was 800mb-1.1gb but using it, memory consumption goes up to 1.2gb - 2.2gb
uBlock Origin can also do this however there is an issue with it.
In its settings you can enable: Block media elements larger than:
and set it to 0 kilobytes.
That way no image will load by default. To specifically load an image you hover over it and click on it.
However, it sends requests to each image to find out how big each image is before deciding whether or not to block it. There is an open issue on Github about this: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/issues/1473 but no one is assigned to it and I don't know if it will be 'fixed'.
All in all there's no great way to do it but there are a few buggy workarounds.

Just install Xubuntu (because I don't know if kubuntu lets you switch window managers on login?), run 'sudo apt install i3', log out, then choose i3 as your window manager on the login screen. Congrats, you're in default (ugly) i3. Run 'man i3' and check it out -- Particularly note the "Files" section which describes what and where the i3 configuration file is. Then check out i3status ('man i3status').

From there check out http://dotshare.it/category/wms/i3/ and try to copy what looks cool. You're going to have no idea what's going on at first but it just takes practice, persistence, and a lot of googling. Good luck /g/entooman.

I did this with a sager laptop I had a couple years ago when the charger broke. Used an older less beefy charger for a couple weeks while I waited for a new one in the mail. As long as the connector fits you don't have much to worry about by using a lower power charger, it'll just run a bit slower if you're doing anything intensive.

Trying to figure out how to make ahk draw circles with the mouse while holding down a key.

I managed to scavenge a similar code through google:

$*Space:: ; press space, then move the mouse, then release space
MouseGetPos, baseX, baseY
Keywait, Space
Speed = 15 ; also effects the accuracy of the circle, be careful
Clockwise := true
SetDefaultMouseSpeed, 0
MouseGetPos, offsetX, offsetY
dx := offsetX - baseX
dy := (-offsetY + baseY) * (!Clockwise*2-1)
offsetR := (dx = 0) ? (0.25+(dy>0)/2) : (ATan(dy/dx)/6.2831853+(dx<0)/2+(dx>0 && dy<0))
SetBatchLines, -1
Loop, % slices := Ceil( (10/speed) * Dist := Sqrt(dx**2 + dy**2) )
MouseMove, % BaseX + Dist * Cos(6.2831853*(A_Index / slices + offsetR))
, % baseY - (!Clockwise*2-1) * Dist * Sin(6.2831853*(A_Index / slices + offsetR))
return

Except it's weird in that it wants me to hold space, move mouse, release space in order to draw the circle. How do I change this to continuously draw circles while just holding down a key?

Where do I start to learn about linking libraries and adding paths to include files. I can follow directions, but I honestly can't say I understand what's going on when I type -lpthread for instance into linker options.

PC turns off randomly, it's a hard turn off as if it were switched off at the wall. Sometimes it restarts by itself, sometimes it boots to windows and works properly and sometimes it boots to windows and gets stuck.

If it gets stuck then I have to turn it off at the wall and wait a few minutes. Sometimes it wont turn on at all and I also have to turn it off for a few minutes. The unexpected switchoff also happens on the BIOS screen.

The windows event log says that it's an error 41 meaning an unexpected system power off - which rules out a software problem. As far as I can tell, MSI motherboards don't have an event log. I've tried for days to find something but to no avail.

The system timer is fine so I don't think it's a CMOS problem. The motherboard is also only 3 months old.

I cleaned the system with canned air and checked for any short circuits. The system was built 3 months ago and has worked flawlessly with no bumps or drops or anything.

The power supply is a 3 month old EVGA platinum with a 10 year warranty. I've never herd of this kind of problem with a high quality component.

Fag with a Maxlel GPU here.
I'm trying to tweak my GPU's BIOS to enable fanless mode while idling. It's not going too well.
I've followed some guides on that there internet, set the appropriate values in the fan profile, flashed my tweaked BIOS (pic related), but my fans are still spinning at ~860 rpm despite reporting "0%" fan speed, also pic related.

Anyone know what's up with that ?
Alternatively, how much could I fuck up by flashing a BIOS from a different model of the same GPU from the same manufacturer ?
Specifically I have an MSI GTX 960 4GD5T OC, which doesn't have this feature out of the box. I've found the BIOS file from an MSI GTX 960 G1 Gaming, which does come with this feature, but I'm unsure whether flashing that might fuck everything up.

Is it possible to actually brick a graphics card with this stuff, as long as I have hardware available to perform the BIOS flashing and keep a backup of a working BIOS ? If something goes wrong, can I just re-flash the working one and be back to normal ?

There's always a possibility of bricking hardware when you're fucking with the firmware.
>>

So, I have to pay the registration fee yearly? or just once?
>>
>>56465063
why do you think you wouldn't be able to play games on a clean install of windows?

it takes like 30 minutes to wipe the drive and install windows again.

if you already downloaded some games, just back them up on an external hdd.

if you really want to uninstall the bloat manually, which i would not recommend, start with all of the stuff that has lenovo in the name or description. you don't need any of that.

I have an android, and Lightning just isn't working with i2p.
Every time I try to switch to it in general settings, I just get the same message, that i2p needs to be installed and running, and the asks if I would like to install it, even though it is already installed and running.
Even worse, whenever I say yes, it doesn't give me anything, just that the app or whatever wasn't found.

Also, setting the proxy to localhost and setting the port number to 4444 doesn't work very well in lightning, if at all.

I was wondering about this since the bits supplying the PCI-e identifier for the GPU are apparently soldered to the PCB in the form of resistors/capacitors, or at least they were in the 700 series.
I know there's a possibility of soft bricking it, but from what I've read it should be possible to flash it back to a working state as long as I have another GPU to boot up on temporarily, which I do.
Do you actually know if messing with the BIOS on a Maxwell based card can permanently hard brick it, or is that just a default response to this type of question ?
>>
>>56465157
http://mspoweruser.com/clean-install-windows-10-using-media-creation-tool/

print it out so you don't get stuck

iirc your windows 10 key should be stored in the bios, so it will activate automatically.

but since you seem to not have done this before, maybe it's better to just uninstall everything manually.

a list of your autostart programs would be useful. running programs will slow down your pc, all else will just take up some disk space and never bother you otherwise.

as i've said before, all of that lenovo stuff is unnecessary.
>>
>>56465182
I don't have any specific knowledge about bricking Maxwell cards or GPUs in general, sorry. You're probably better off asking somewhere more specialized in that sort of thing.

something like this should work since pokemon have at most 2 types. For n types you'd probably need a pivot table.

Also syntax may be slightly off as I primarily us pl/sql & mssql

select p.id as pkmnid, p.name, t1.name as type1, t2.name as type2 from pokemon p
left join pokemontype pt1 on pt1.pkmnid = p.id and slot = 1
left join pokemontype pt2 on pt2.pkmnid = p.id and slot = 2
left join type t1 on t1.id = pt1.typeid
left join type t2 on t2.id = pt2.typeid

I have a stupid question...
I finally saved up enough money to buy an expensive msi laptop.
Now the one I wanted with 16GB apparently wasn't in stock so the computer store suggested to get me the 8GB one (all other stats are similar) but with an extra memory slot of 8GB installed.
If they know what they're doing, will I get the same quality?

(select name from type join pokemontype on typeid = type.id and slot=2 where pkmnid=pokemon.id) as type2
from
pokemon

Here's data if someone wants to play with it:

with
pokemon(id,name) as(values
(1,'Bulbasaur'),
(2,'Ivysaur'),
(3,'Venusaur'),
(4,'Charmander')
),
pokemontype(id,pkmnid,typeid,slot) as(values

Alright, fixed it.

You can disable xposed but placing a blank file called "disabled" in a certain directory.

Press whatever key to boot into your recovery manager and it'll have a file explorer that'll let you create that blank file.

When it's disabled you can boot normally, uninstall the module that broke it and delete that "disabled" file and reboot.
