i've had the same problem with Chrome on Debian. Works great on Chrome for Windows (10). there is a solution, i always had to hit refresh button (not in browser, in top of 4chan's catalog) and all miniatures was back.

Are you on wifi? Your wifi might not be completely supported. My old dongle had serious issues with performance untill the kernel caught up to it. Wait a year and maybe it will work.
