"The other really impressive part about this keyboard is that you can place any regular notebook on it and write in it, and it will digitally convert anything that you’ve drawn or written right into the Yoga Book. This is fantastic if you still like writing things down, but also want to save your notes in a digital format.

The exact limits of how thick the notebook can be to use this function isn’t known, but the notebook we used was over half an inch thick, and the device still registered everything that was written, so it’s certainly a stunning feature."

I'm legitimately excited they're bringing this idea back.

Got a surface pro for engineering because i figured it'd be easier to take notes by hand digitally for shit like formulas and drawings.
Thought I'd get used to it after a year.
Still have to use paper for a lot of my notes because even my "new" surface pro 3 sucks to write on.
But if this shit'll let me write on paper and digitally at the same time, well, I'll have the return button handy but I can't help by be fucking excited to try it.
>>
>>56367276

No, the Stylus nib gets replaced with an ink cartridge. So you still have to use the (included) stylus. Just don't forget if you've got the Nib in or the Ink in if you go to touch the screen with it, I guess.

I'm getting one as soon as it releases mid September.

Also, it uses normal paper and works the same way as bamboo spark: it's a wacom tablet that you can place lad of paper on top. All of the electronics are in the device itself and the pen, paper is just normal paper. The ink cartridge is most likely the standard 67mm metal ink thingy.

I think the device will be way better with android, as it is not going to be anywhere near a good laptop replacement. It will be shitty experience with W10, but an amazing one with android.
>>
It's a tablet with an attached touch keyboard, so it's easier to use as a plain tablet instead of a detachable, or awkward rotating keyboard, or god forbid a keyboard that pokes keys out the other side and gets disabled in tablet mode

It can be used as a graphics tablet, a handwriting device, gestures like the PS Vita, or in laptop shape scrolling and gestures without getting your filthy hands all over the screen

I literally dont see the problem, do you guys still look at the keyboard when typing on your phone? It's been years to get used to it. I've typed this entire thing on my phone keyboard, and typed up essays on it when a desktop/laptop wasn't available.

Handwrite if you need to, it has handwriting detection.

Between this and the Acer Predator fuckbeast, I think /g/ just likes to get mad at anything that isn't a bog standard business laptop (Which still exist, and still get made)

>>56372664
>hurr durr
You have the great power of forgetting how cameras work. White will never be perfectly white because of the camera and noise. Especially if you use a desk lamp which usually has warm, yellowish light. Even if you try to hold paper flat, it will bend where it's joined to other sheets in notebook (yeah, if you scan separate sheets this one isn't a problem). In comparison if you set a colour to #FFFFFF, it is white. And printers have no problems with converting it to actual colours.

>>56372751
I know they decent, but they aren't as pretty as when making them digitally straight away. While converting analog papers to digital always introduce some noise, printing a digital note works out much better and is easier and faster (assuming you have the right software, I have to actually export each note to pdf, then upload it to PC or laptop and then I can print them).

The biggest advantage to taking notes digitally is the editing power. I bet your pens don't have an undo button or selection mode.

I wasn't clear in my first post. I was referring to the idea that you write on paper on top of the tablet and the pressure is used to make a copy of it at the same time in
>>56367228
>>
>>56367228
A pretty omnious and unknown company but Kanvus does have something similar - you can basically take this tablet-only thing around and write things atop of it with a ink-stylus combo pen that gets the thing saved in a internal flash drive which you can then connect to stuff through USB to retrieve digital copies of what you write.
>>
There are interesting things about this, but every time I think of one, it has a huge downside associated with it, and a much simpler solution.

It really worries me because normies drive consumer technology, and they care so little about keyboards that they won't even know how shitty it is. I have a feeling capacitive keyboards would be cheaper than physical keys, so normies will eat it up and everyone will implement them.

Fast forward 5 years to a world where "having a physical keyboard" is another criteria that culls half the options on the market.

I am now convinced I am in a nightmare and cannot wake up. Technology has gone into a fucking spiral of stupidity in the least 10 or so years and getting dumber by the moment. The only way this is possible is that it's just a crazy nightmare I'm having, and I'll wake up and everything will be sane again with no fucking stupidass smartphones and no touchscreen insanity.

I want to wake up from this nightmare.

But it's even more inconvenient than using a touchpad. Why not to become a part of glorious trackpoint master race?
>>
>>56375514

touch pads are weird because you have to fine precision a single point with a stubby finger and then when you click the finger position moves

but typing on a wacom enabled surface... that might be interesting
>>
>Tablet with a touch keyboard that can be used as a graphics tablet, stand, and note taking

I literally dont see the problem, and you'll have to convince me of one

Let's not forget this is a fucking tablet, and if you really want a keyboard nothing's stopping you from standing it and using a Bluetooth one

That would be very useful for University perhaps but then I guess you should just write it down on the touchscreen.

Why don't just type on the screen?

Nobody is interested in this for the keyboard.

The interesting part is what happens when you turn the keyboard off.
