had one, had problems with the factory reset since something was off with the bootloader.

It never reseted the phone when I encrypted it (stuck in the animation and nothing happened until I removed the battery). Had to reset it with adb

If thats a non issue for you then go for it. Cm support ootb is quite nice. If you don't mind a non replacable battery then the bq aquaris x5 might be something for you too.

Not the other guy, but the Redmi Note 3 has been becoming popular for a reason. Cheap with good specs, large battery, sd card slot, and good custom ROM support (so near stock Android and such). Downsides are a mediocre camera, and the Android skin that it comes with (MIUI) is fairly ram heavy. Overall, I think it's great, and this is coming from a guy who came from a OnePlus One.

I was so fucking close to pulling the trigger on the Wileyfox Storm which is basically like if you got a moto G (/g/s old meme phone), made it 5.5inches, 3gb of ram and chucked cyanogenmod on it.

The redmi note 3 pro is like $150 cheaper and has the same specs. Sure the design isn't as good imo (still decent) but it is sooo much cheaper and you can chuck cyanogenmod on it anyway.

....Pokemon Go

No but seriously, I am a Videographer and the smartphone-app to remotely controll my B-Cam only works under Android/iOS. I dont want to have to run between 2 different cameras. and turning the dials on the camera to control some aspects can be picked up by microphones, it shakes the cam and it isn't as precise. Also, transfering images and videos directly via the app would allow me to keep up a better Social Media presence during shoots of events, which some customers really appreciate. Alternatively, i could use a smartphone as an additional screen for my rig.
I use a lot of RSS-feeds and the only decent app for it, Nextgen reader keeps spazzing out, I miss whatever I used on Android. Also, Just having a bit of a choice for all sorts of apps would make me happy.
The phone keeps crashing, having glitches, tries to "repair" the SD-Card, doesn't recognize it at times, stops playing music when headphones are plugged in, rejects BT devices halfway through, has a weird graphical glitch that cuts out parts of the screen and restitches it.
Last but not least, I miss the option to root and have control over all aspects, like with BusyBox and SD-Maid.
Technically, everything's a wild card.

Yeah and that's too bad but the 950 XL has great hardware: amazing camera, dual sim, SD slot, replaceable 3340mAh battery, 5'7'' display, and Windows 10 is the slickest and most lightweight phone OS so far, really the only thing that can be held against it is that a lot of normie apps are not available/are eternal beta ports.

Continuum is also pretty cool but the adapter is expensive as shit.

Currently have a Moto G gen 1, has been great but starting to slow right down and large apps are a problem (I fell for the 8gb and cloud meme).

In the UK and on Virgin. Entry level devices preferred as I don't into flagship devices.

Only really need decent storage (pref expendable), BT and NFC. Decent camera would be nice but not essential.

Was looking at jumping to a Moto G 4th gen but no NFC. HTC Desire 530 around same price with NFC, worse camera and HTC sense bloatware (I had a Wildfire 1st gen before this moto g).

There seem to be a difference in the camera too:

Also, since the Mi5 lacks the 800 MHz band (which isn't exactly a problem since there are two other bands my carrier uses, but it might be annoying in some areas where that one is the only LTE band available), I was hoping the Mi5S had that hole covered.

Anyone here have an s7 edge?
How is it holding up?
The battery life?
Any overheating issues?
Do you like it overall?
>>
>>56360400
i decided to get it next week after looking into smartphones for a couple of weeks.
ontheedgelite rom on xda seems to be good.
>>
>>56360070
>no roms for it(all roms are kenzo) and it's physically different and no cases yet either
Assuming we plan to stay on global stock MIUI is the Kate edition really such a bad idea? Cases will surely come out soon anyways.

I used Touchwiz for 3 years with no real complaints, I just want a phone with decent specs for the price
>>
>>56360988
Sure it has a stable rom, go for it it's an excellent phone.

Microsoft Lumia 640 or ZTE Fanfare pre-paids are on sale $20 each at Target

Good throw away phones?
>>
>>56361068
My other option at that price range is the Moto G4 and the redmi is surely more powerful than that

Doing pretty good so far. Switched from a 6s And enjoying it so far. Nice camera, fast enough, amazing display.

Pic related for battery life. Stock Exynos with package disabler pro.

Gets a little warm while charging, but no heat problems.
>>
Are there any major differences between the Moto G4 and the plus version?
>>
>>56362523
More RAM+better camera+fingerprint scanner. rest is the same.
>>
>>56362523
Nah both have preinstalled malware from lelnovo

Get an LG G3 instead. More RAM, it has a high res screen, ect

LG G3 doesn't have bootloop problems, that's the G4.

Still has a shit battery, shit screen, shit digitizer, shit everything. how much is LG paying you to shill here?
>>

That's the G4 you fuckstick

>>56362881
None but it's miles ahead of the G4 with preinstalled malware.

This is a dumb question, but it seems relevant here. On the XDA forums, the Cyanogen ROM for the Redmi Note 3 Pro has an extra piece of firmware (f2s or something); however, on the main Cyanogen site, the wiki and ROM snapshot do not mention this extra piece of firmware. Is there anyone here who's used the official Cyanogen ROM? Is that extra firmware necessary?
>>
Just got the update for my HTC One e8, it looks and feels like shit and I'm a newfag. So now I've decided to go with a custom rom . I've saved my photos to my PC, going to save my contacts as well. What steps do I need to take to get this set up with a custom rom? Looking for something without frills, without lots of graphical animations. Send help

You fucking serious? When 128GB flash drives are like 10$ and it's the same fucking chips!
>>
>>56362954
Welcome to Apple. Sorry for your wallet. Enjoy your stay.
>>
>>56362925
>Is that extra firmware necessary?
Yes, you need to flash the firmware afterwards.

Basically: flash TWRP, flash firmware, flash ROM, flash Gapps and reboot.
>>
Used lg g4 or new op3?
>>
>>56363142

BOOT LOOP

If you're going to buy a refurb buy a device that didn't have a major fucking recall. Try the Note 4, or the newer Moto X Play which can be had for $220 for the 32 GB from amazon

Thank you. If you don't mind, does this firmware need to be flashed on every snapshot push? Also, does the battery life benefit from the Cyanogen ROM?
>>
>>56363393
how are you liking miui so far? what's making you flash cm?
>>
>>56363393
No. If you flash a MIUI Recovery ROM from TWRP your bootloader would get locked and you'll be stuck in a bootloop. (TWRP cofface can flash MIUI without a problem)

Battery life was pretty much the same. however it was full of bugs. fp reader wouldn't work, random freezes and restarts, apps crashing etc. so I went back to global MiUI 8 and everything is fine now. that was on last weeks official CM13 nightly though so maybe it's improved now.
I've heard that Santosh' unofficial CM13 and RR work better too but I haven't tried them.

Watch RootJunky tutorial if you still wanna try it, he explains everything:

>>
>>56362911
Nah the G3 has the same issue, it's just less common. I have a friend who's on his third G3 due to bootloops.
>>
>>56363565
If it doesn't work, return. Chinese sellers usually have good return policy. Assuming customs doesn't rape you since you're in the UK
>>
>>56363565
Just don't open it and send it back for refund/ask for replacement. B4 and B20 is quite useful to have in Europe/Burgerland.
>>
>>56363431
MIUI's all right, but after using Motorolla's stock ROM and Cyanogen on a Moto G, I really prefer the stock way of doings things; Cyanogen gets quite close to that, so I prefer it over other ROMs. Even so, I find MIUI to be quite bloated, using half the system resources and services I can't find anything about, and don't like how it displays notifications or its menus that much. Having root is nice, too.

>>56363531
>If you flash a MIUI Recovery ROM from TWRP your bootloader would get locked and you'll be stuck in a bootloop
Fuck, I was hoping it would do the exact opposite.

>it was full of bugs
Maybe I should wait for it to become better, then.

Not all of us are poorfags, note 7 no contract reporting in.
The audio is alright, its not terribly loud like the LG G series is.
I dont know what you want to hear mang, the loudness is pretty much the same as every other samsung phone.

I havent used the samsung earbuds,I just use my own, I'm no audiophile or some shit, it all sounds the same to as my Note 3 I had before.

Try this nougat theme from the theme market:

Not perfect but at least the visuals are much better.

p.s. If you don't want to apply via pc (mtz file) because it's a pain in the ass, search for "Android N" in the theme market and apply. it's much faster that way.

So I'm going to bite the bullet and get the rn3p. I'm getting conflicting reports about tmobile lte not working and working with the rn3p. The phone in the link has B2 and B4 which is what tmobile uses here in burger land. Will this phone actual get lte because hspa/4G coverage sucks in my area? Thanks in advance for your input.

No, this version lacks most bands.

This one Taiwan/Global edition might actually work better:
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Official-Global-Version-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-3i-pro-prime-special-Version-Smartphone-5-5-Inch/2178148_32717858702.html

Has more bands but no one tested it in the U.S yet because it was just released.
Still lacks B17 and B12 though.
