very very good but i'm using the global miui rom, it has some very minor bugs. i think xiaomi.eu would be better

phone has crazy battery life btw

overall phone is very good and only issues are software-side

minor bugs include:
- auto-rotate not working but is fixed by going to gallery and turning auto-rotate off and on
- headphone input sometimes not working right after unplugging headphones (phone thinks headphones are still in despite taking them out) fixed by rebooting ~30 seconds
- deleting an app rearranges icons on the page, fixed by moving app to a page without many icons and deleting then
- installing new apps put them on a new app page, seems to be fixed with the latest miui 8 update
- stock weather app spells my city wrong but it works fine, you can disable it completely and use the google weather app

Could a faulty SIM card do this?
>>
>>56323508
In my opinion after using it for a few weeks:

-Battery is only okay (3.5h SOT, not rooted) but most flagship barely push that.
-Bitch to get screen protector for because 2.5D screen
-Non-removeable battery means you might shell out 20-30 bucks before warranty ends for a replacement if you're a heavy user
-Capacative buttons are good but I hit them with my hand fatpads.

Overall a solid phone, plan to root it soon when I stop being lazy, but it's good all around. Hits a lot of good points with no big issues.

>Software is the major issue that ZTE has with the Axon 7. So far I have not received a single update in the month I have had this phone, and I am not convinced any will come anytime soon, and this is a major worry.

>From the get go, the Axon 7’s dodgy OS has been a little irritating. The start up wizard constantly crashed when first setting the phone up, and what should have been a 5 minute process turned in to an hour slog.

>I’ve had issues with notifications not coming through all the time (similar issue to the OP3), but my major complain is the caller ID doesn’t work. Although my contacts are in the phone I never know who is calling, yet the call history words as you would expect.

Software is full of bugs.

Last year, HTC raised some eyebrows by releasing the One A9, a mid-range, metal-made Android smartphone that many saw as having an iPhone-like design (though that's debatable, since one could argue that the iPhone borrowed design elements from older HTC handsets first). Now, according to Venture Beat, HTC is almost ready to unveil a successor to the One A9, reportedly called One A9s.

On the xiaomi eu page you can delete apps on the app page by dragging the icon into trash and it explodes it's awesome. Not sure if you can do it on global.

You should flash the EU rom it's pretty easy and you can delete a bunch of the bloatware that comes with the global stable rom. EU rom also gets updates faster than the global rom because it is based off of the China rom.

>>56329831
Apparently it has the same performance as MIUI (I expect this to change as CM gets more updates), apparently the battery life is around the same or slightly less but most importantly they finally got the fingerprint reader working!

If you want a xiaomi phone that runs CM well then make sure that you get a device that was released outside of China (india most likely) as Xiaomi don't unlock the bootloaders of phones that are only released in China.

How often do you upgrade your phone? I usually buy cheap and go for two years before I upgrade.

My last phone was a Moto G (2014) and I used that up until I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Pro last year. The redmeme pro doesn't seem as sturdy as my old moto g so I've ordered a case and tempered glass screen protectors so that I can keep is pristine and avoid cracking and shattering the screen. My old Moto G had so many cracks and it stopped working eventually and I had to use my girlfriends old Samsung Galaxy 3 for a week.

I think that the specs of the redmi note 3 are pretty decent and it will last two years without much trouble.

I'm in Australia so I bought from http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/ who are reliable and shipped it to me in 3 days from Hong Kong, it still came with a vendor rom though.

Apparently Top One and Goldways on aliexpress are reputable - although you'll still get a vendor rom which means it'll require flashing (not too hard but takes a few hours to figure out, I did it while stoned).
>>

Yeah, I got it last week.

The fingerprint sensor on mine works faster than my girlfriends galaxy 7, it is surprisingly good and the location of it makes it much more convenient to use. I haven't flashed a non miui rom yet however I have read on xda, reddit and miui forums that cyanogenmod supports fingerprint reading so hopefully they've sorted that shit out, the fingerprint reader on this device is so useful that I would actually miss it.

Don't bother. I had the Xperia Z3 compact and the charging port was faulty after 5 months of use, it was incredibly easy to crack the back plastic and the flaps that cover the ports were so easy to break I didn't even notice them breaking.

For what the specs were the phone was incredibly overpriced. I dunno, I don't think Sony is competitive within the smartphone market anymore. Maybe the Z5 compact is better but I think you could use that money to get something better made by someone with less brand name power.

Make sure you have a good warranty seeing as how their last 3 flagships suffer from bootloop eventually

I went from an iPhone 5S to a S7 Edge, and to my surprise, I hate it. Feels both too sensitive and laggy, keyboard and autocorrect are infuriating, OS is bloated, have to cradle it so I don't touch the sides, etc.

my Galaxy S4 is probably close to die on me, so a replacement is needed.

Currently posting from Honor 8.

Quick thoughts:

Pros: very snappy. Absolutely no heating up. Camera is great. SmartKey features on fingerprint sensor are definitely not a meme. Fingerprint sensor is fast as fuck. Absolutely shits on my s7 edge. The screen is good.

Cons: EMUI aesthetics are complete dog shit. The auto brightness setting seems to not work properly. The single down firing speaker is pretty bad. Nearly inaudible at full volume on apps like Snapchat.

Will report back once I get a full week with the phone but so far I'm extremely impressed. I can't believe I only paid 350 for this fucking thing. As bad as EMUI is it still shits on lagwizz.

Not a big deal. On Marshmallow I was still getting a day and a half.
>>
>>56337638
Dude don't worry about it at all it is super easy to check if you get a vendor ROM (pro tip: you 99℅ will).

All you do is go into settings, scroll down until you see about phone, click on it and then look at the MIUI version. Write the version name and number into Google and see what comes up.

If it's a vendor ROM all you have to do is power down the phone, hold down volume up and power so that it boots into recovery mode and install Mi PC Suite and then it will update to the current stable version.

For me the Xiaomi official ROMs both global and stable had some shitty apps and bloat so I flashed the Xiaomi EU ROM which is based on the Chinese ROM and gets updates at basically the same time.

It was easy to do and you'll be fine been don't stress
>>
>>56338317
Thanks man, appreciate it.

>>56337301
Some /g/aylords love MIUI others prefer stock android. What I think is interesting is that people don't seem to outright fucking hate it at least, most can appreciate that it is in general fast, pretty and has a bunch of features that are useful.

I say give it a try for a week or whatever and then go try out cyanogenmod. See how you feel. I use MIUI8 and it is actually pretty decent and customizable with a big community that can help you fix whatever issue you have.

In general Xiaomi seem quite decent at updating their phones steadily and their older phones seem to get faster with improvements.

I fully expect the next MIUI updates to include better ram management and other goodies to make the phone even better, they'd be idiots to squander the good will they've generated.

Don't forget to apply to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP should you wish to install Xiaomi EU or Cyanogenmod.

You can apply before you even get the phone http://en.miui.com/unlock/

You can't unlock the bootloader of the phone running a vendor rom so just follow the steps I wrote before.

Definitely at least unlock the bootloader and install TWRP so you can get root access and block all the shitty advertisements that make streaming porn on phones a nightmare.

Budget doesn't mean I have to spend that much. It's just the upper limit I accept to fulfill the requirements.

>BQ Aquaris X5 Plus
Interesting. I'll consider that. Thank you!
>>
>>56340933
If you wanna spend less Redmi 3s is also a good choice. SD430 and battery life is awesome.

Should I try and wait for ZTE to release an update that fixes the wireless speeds on the Axon 7 or just return it now?

Has the micro sd door broken off? I read that's a common issue
>>
Any reason why I shouldn't get an S7 Active? About to buy my first smart phone since I'm being forced off of my 10 year old dumb phone.
>>
>>56341327
Overpriced as fuck thats why. Theres phones being built in the same fucking factory with similar if not almost identical specs for half the price.
>>
>>56334892
shouldeve gone for the s7 edge m8

Whats the best and most economic 200$ phone for an American. And what is its biggest downside.
>>
>>56341345

Got some suggestions? Like I said, first smart phone, and only even moving on because my service is cutting 2g so I have to get something new anyway. I don't know dick about what is good.
>>

Moto G4

Processor isn't high end by any stretch of the word. Look up some reviews. It can cost you as little as $149 new.
>>
>>56341167
For how long can you return it? wait until last days and it it's not fixed return it.

>>56341327
>>56341420
Why S7 Active instead of regular S7? S7 would be a good first smartphone.
>>
>>56341526

The bigger battery appeals to me since I'm coming from a dumb phone that I could just leave on for a long ass time. Also because I'm already on ATT which is the only ones selling it. Either is fine though. Was waiting to see what the note 7 was like but it just seems like a lot more money for just the pen.
>>
>>56341526
Bought it through Amazon. It says 25th of September but I believe I cant return it anymore because its opened and used
>>
>>56341573
Well it's less comfortable to hold imo but if your'e fine with it go for it. S7E also has a decent battery.

>>56341603
Claim it's malfunctioned or something.
>>
Got a Iphone 5s for free but the display is broken. Is it worth repairing it for ~150€ or should I get a new one?
>>
>>56341654
>S7E also has a decent battery.

I'm not really a fan of the edge. Don't know how hard it is to get use to, just haven't really thought about it since I liked it less then the standard s7 design wise. Guess that shouldn't matter though.

Had not thought about the extra shit on the active making it harder/more annoying to handle so I guess I should look into that as well. Thanks.
>>
>>56323273
Didn't the one who made these also made them from other shows too? I want to see other anime posted too other than this shitty one
>>
>>56341719
Walk into bestbuy or any physical store and hold them to know for sure, S7 is really comfortable. Edge I agree is mostly just a meme.
>>
>>56336791
I want that blue model to come out already.

I have a first gen MotoX. Love this thing but it's starting die. Color shift from the AMOLED is getting bad and I'm pretty sure battery capacity has shrunk.

If like to get something similar to what I've got now- under 5", with an easily rootable carrier-unlocked model, that won't be a frustrating piece of shit.

Price is not an issue though, it looks like all the most expensive phones are enormous anyway.

What should my next phone be?
>>
>>56341767

Yeah, I'll try that, thanks again.

Figured I should ask about it here to see if there was something obvious wrong with that phone or if there was a clear better alternative before putting any more effort into it.

I needed a new phone, and going in I was pretty set on the Priv. However, I've come to the conclusion that it just isn't competitively priced. As much as I am a patriot (canuck), I can't justify spending $650CAD (ON SALE) for a phone that doesn't really match up to other phones in that price range. I think I'm going to settle on the Lumia 950, as cameras are a big selling point for me in a phone
>>
Who here is in the US and uses any Xiaomi (or any other China) phones? I've been using Willmyphonework and haven't found any that work completely on US networks.
>>
>>56342092
willmyphonework is retarded. Get the international version of redmi note 3 pro and it'll work on t-mobile with 4g(non LTE). This version is available on geekbuying and aliexpress lately.

Or else just don't buy a chink phone
>>
>>56342087
Just get a fucking L1520 instead. You will be much better off. Best WP phone to day.

Thanks for some insight.

I barely know anything about these chink phones but why the fuck does everyone talking about them sound like a fucking shill?

Every post in this thread talking about a redmi or a one plus or whatever the fuck, shills like a motherfucker.
What am I missing here?

but the MX5 is good, I bought it retail in Chengdu, it does all I need it to do, the only things it lacks is a SD storage, and google play services have been shitting bricks for a few months without me being able to identify the issue.

I ditched Verizon 7 years ago because even then they were more expensive than literally every other carrier for little advantage. They still don't offer "unlimited" data unless you're grandfathered in to some 8 year old plan
>>
>>56342528
>the crack is almost invisible
Well it sure sounded like it bothered you enough to want a new phone kek.

350 - 400€ retail, but it's too small for my hands the XL looks great but it's 450+.

subsidiary question, how does Dual Sim work with a carrier phone ?

any other cheap smartphones with EXTREME BATTERY LIFE other than the k10000?

I basically need a phone that will also be able to do all-day duty as a PMP for anime/music/audiobooks.
