Give me the pros and cons of erasing my OS and installing Linux familam. I just bought a USB stick and will do it

I was thinking about Linux Mint or Gentoo but am open to suggestions, also it's possible I keep Mac because I have no problem with it. Please help me decide

OS X
>good out of the box
>stable
>harder to fuck up than Windows
>UNIX based, so bash, coreutils, etc are all there
>no package manager, but one can be downloaded

Linux
>quality depends on the distro
>UNIX-like, so coreutils are there
>package manager present no matter what
>stability depends on the distro
>HCI/UI/UX guidelines vary from DE to DE, apps can be hard to use to their respective potentials
>developers are full of themselves, regardless of distro

It really boils down to weather you want proprietary or free software. You can get core linux utils and basically everything else linux from homebrew so for the most part you can do linux shit in mac.

Run it in a VM for a few days and then make a decision.

I recently did this with my Macbook, I installed Fedora 24 used it for a month hated it. Apple made it so easy for me to go back I loved it. I used command + r even after I deleted the partition and it connected to internet and re downloaded the recovery files and restored my system.

I will never get where this meme comes from, Windows crashes way more than Linux for me, Linux is stable af (I don't usually use the bleeding edge distros though)
