Deleted a Netrunner, Arch and Fedora VM and finished up a gentoo one just now to try it out.
Not bad, reminds me a bit of using a BSD in a couple ways.
BSD vm was going to get a desktop but it is having connection trouble and I can't be bothered.
Hopefully at the end of this I will have found a linux OS to put onto my laptop and such.

I did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro on my new XPS 15. Pretty fucking sweet I must say. It's only got 256GB SSD though, so I don't feel like dual booting Linux. Just going to run BASH in Windows since they added in that new mode.

Kubuntu and Ubuntu gnome and both are shit. KDE is the most unstable OS experience I ever had and Gnome is so restrictive I feel like I'm using a tablet OS. I wanted to try Linux so I could use something else than Windows but in every step of the way I have to google how to enable something or how to fix things that are trivial, such as screen timeout time, I mean what the fuck. The next thing I try is Zorin, but I dont have much hope.

I disabled secure boot and fast boot; tried to install ubuntu via flash drive.

reinstalled El Capitan. I had to switch from OsxAptioFixDrv to OsxAptioFixDrv2. I don't know how I managed to install it the first time. anyway everything works by now although I had to nuke Windows because it made the EFI partition too small and I didn't care to figure that out.

For my degree, I ran Windows on my main, and had a Fedora box I was shell into. I would run XMing on Windows and pipe X11 over SSH. That meant I could program C in Geany (or whatever) on the Linux box with all the GUI on Windows. My CompSci degree was easy and I could still do all the Windows shit.

Tearing is pretty much guaranteed if you're using propriatory NVIDIA drivers. There is a fix for this but until NVIDIA support Wayland properly then it's something you'll have to put up with.
