I have an older c55d-b5102 with a beema a8-6410.
I went to update the display driver and get crimson instead of CCC. display driver failed but everything else installed. I googled and tried uninstalling via device manager and running DDU and then installing and had the same issue. So I used windows update and got the oem driver (13.352.1004.1008)
So I went to Toshiba support and found a newer driver (15.20.1040-150608a-185302C-Toshiba)

should I uninstall again and install this or leave the current version windows provided? Installed the newest version of BIOS from that page with no issues so far.

You can try the toshiba drivers. Also I wouldn't bother with crimson if it's giving you problems. It's pretty much a beta, and I had some trouble with it myself. I don't think you're going to see a huge difference between drivers on an older card. Also if you happen to be using an intel processor I would make sure the integrated graphics have their driver installed before you install the AMD ones
