It can't run without at least a USB sound card which will give it 5v of its needed 48v. Direct into motherboard doesn't work at all or it's very very quiet. Some USB sound cards boost the gain so the quiet recording from the mic appears loud (Somake) but it also sounds flat and lacking detail. Search "48v phantom power" on eBay and get the black chinky one. It works great and is cheap.

used Scarlett Focusrite 1st gens are also cheap right now due to the 2nd gen coming out. I'd recommend one of those as it works as a dac and also has your 48v phantom power. It's worth the investment if you want a good sounding stream. Look locally for musicians and podcasters exiting their hobby and selling off used stuff cheap, it's almost always in good condition because musicians aren't as degenerate as gamers with their gear (no cheeto dust or vape oil all over it).
