I've never had to install graphics card drivers before and I'm not sure what to do to fix my resolution.

I've got a Radeon R9 380x and Windows 7.

The Auto Detect tool said it didn't detect any AMD hardware.

I've tried running the three things in the screenshot but nothing fixed the resolution.

I'm programming some stuff with javascript and php.
Currently I'm working with files, and for some reason, once php sends a file name to javascript, it adds
%EF%BB%BF%EF%BB%BF

Javascript show me those hidden character with an alert(), but php don't if I echo $file, it just show me the good file name. If I use strcmp(file, "file.txt") it tells me those strings aren't the same.

Any idea why it happens and how can I solve this ?

If you have money to spare you can get a 1070/1080 and whatever you do, don't SLI because it's not worth the pain. Both look fine to me, but the max temp of your first hard drive (48c°) and health doesnt look good and the read error message make me think the problem is the drive youre trying to clone, might just be windows fucking up.

Are they plugged directly into the motherboard? Imo youre better using DOS or bootable utilities for this kind of things, in any case try zeroing/full-format the destination drive just to be sure its working ok, yeah I know they say you shouldnt write too much to ssds but thats for very old ssds only, once wont hurt.

HELP

my GTX 1070, according to GPU-Z, has a memory clock of 2000. I can get it to 2304 with a +600 on the memory clock in MSI AB

my GTX 1080 reports like 1200 and 1350 with a +400 on the memory clock in MSI AB

shouldn't a fucking GTX 1080's memory clock match it, or did they lower the 1080's memory clock just because it has GDDR5x?

Either clonezilla or any linux distro are powerful but hard to use. Ultimate boot CD contains Easeus Disk Copy which is simple to use and many other tools for imaging and includes gsmartcontrol to perform the disk short and long self tests. Perform the tests first because its either windows and the program fucking up or your drive is actually bad.

I can't figure this low GPU usage out

>280x ran like great when I first built my PC in 2013
>99% usage, constant 60 fps whenever I did play games
>fast forward a few years
>low GPU usage, low FPS in most games, just bareable most times
>tried reinstalling OS, drivers, etc a million times
>tried switching RAM, no difference
>benchmarked CPU against reference results, fine
>have an XFX 750W PSU so it should be fine
>buy 1070 hoping to fix this issue forever
>still happens
>Firestrike GPU score is 18,000, overall score 12500

I only get a high GPU usage on benchmarks, I tried CSGO on 720p and I was getting between 180-200 fps regardless of resolution, with a GPU usage of 19% and CPU1 at 80%, the others at 40-20%. Even Skyrim stays around 50 fps.

What gives, this has literally gone on for years and I have no idea what's causing it. I'm ready to give up senpai

4790k, GTX 1070, 32gb 1600 Mhz Corsair RAM, 250gb Samsung Pro SSD

Would appreciate any help. My PSU voltages seem fine.

On a T430 you're not gonna be playing any intense games and Intel HD graphics aren't good. But at the end of the day it's a laptop and will work for web browsing, programming and indie games.

CPU speed isn't that important on a notebook, you're not gaming on it right?

2.6GHz is fine

Yes you can take windows off and install Linux but by the caliber of these questions I'm not entirely sure you have the brain power to do it.

TN - Shitty viewing angles, bad contrast, bad colour, very quick response time

IPS - Great colour, moderately good contrast, slow response times and ghosting
AH-IPS - Same shit different smell, small decrease in response times.

Most likely, it's an older laptop so it might struggle in more CPU intensive tasks or lock up occasionally during video playback. Don't buy a T400 if you haven't got one, just get a T420, they're like 50 or 60 bucks more and much better laptops.

When I came back last year the side of the case was like pried open, guessing she (my house mate) dropped it or something and didn't tell me. Eventually the screen stopped working, got it connected to a monitor, eventually the charger gave way from being bent.

Well that laptop was cheap.. and actually was acceptable once the intolerably slow HD was removed and replaced with SSD.

Used might be an option in Tokyo off kakaku or Aki.

Have laptop specs stalled for several years? I figured I'd be able to get superior specs after several years.

Depends what you intend to use it for.

They're fine for browsing the internet and watching videos (like portable media player sense, not the YouTube and Netflix sense but those are still options). Gaming is okay, if you're no stranger to emulators and wanna put down for a Bluetooth gamepad. Also, you'll find that the Play Store isn't the ONLY place where you can download apps if you go Android but you'll need a browser like ES File Explorer if you want to manually install some APKs -- and if you wanna enjoy your Android device, you'll be doing that much more for all the fun stuff.

If you need a time sink in those moments of downtime (especially without calls interrupting) and want a bigger screen than a phone for watching videos on the go, then sure. Otherwise it's pretty much a dumbed down computer.

Help me, I don't know what my storm did to my PC. Details:

>Massive storm hits out of nowhere, maybe 5min notice before it looks like the Amazon out there
>PC gets a surge, hear a faint click. Could have been the sound system shutting off all at once because the volume was up kinda high, not necessarily an outlet popping
>Immediately power down PC, dont want anything more to happen to it
>2 hours later storm is gone
>Power up PC
>keyboard and mouse dont work
>internet doesnt work despite wifi working fine (i use wired ethernet for my PC and wifi for my laptop - posting right now from laptop)
>Switch mouse and KB usbs to different slots
>now they work, maybe the 3 slots they were using all fried in the storm?
>Internet still out
>Tried all combos of plugging and unplugging ethernet cable, restarting and shutting down pc, nothing works

Did the storm wreck my PC? Why do only 3/6 of my USB outlets seem affected? Why is the internet out when the wifi works fine and everything else works fine? Is this an easy fix?

Damn cause the pc i currently have has a dual core pentium.

Might just buy an i5 6500 and wait for the 1060 to drop in price.

Depends on the size of your current hard drive, if its 2tb too then probably yes but just a bit, otherwise no because of the density increase in the bigger hard drive. Its notable mostly in sequential speeds anyway, if you have your OS on another disk its fine.
>>
>>55926231
Looking at it, it seems like the 5v line on the PSU messed up and fried some shit. Honestly, unless you know how tp test and repair electronics, get a new computer. If you don't, it is very likely that you will blow a capacitor and you then have to deal with capacitor acid. It is damaged and needs to either be repaired or replaced. Do not use that mobo or psu in anything else as they need to be repaired. The ethernet nic and the usb controller needs to be replaced on the mobo which is hard to do due to the size and the way they are soldered onto the board.

Considering that everything else works, I don't think it is as grave as you both suggest. I think this can be salvaged... god damn I hope I can just wake up tomorrow, power on the pc and everything works again.

If you end up replacing the PSU and/or mobo that would still be cheaper than a whole new computer

Where on earth would ever try to legislate something like that?

I think it's a bit premature to talk about machines surpassing humans in intelligence when we've yet to see machines demonstrate any true intelligence at all. Machines are good at doing what they're designed to do, and a clever designer can make it seem that the machine is "intelligent", but that actual ability to innovate and truly "think" beyond a preset program does not exist yet as far as I know. Maybe when we start seeing machines more intelligent than insects we can start worrying about machines being more intelligent than humans in the future, but doesn't make much sense to me right now when the technology is basically nonexistent and purely hypotehtical.
>>
>>55926379
Most likely, but I can guarantee you that it happens a lot. I do think there are some laws about that kind of thing and you could get in trouble if you're caught, like padding your resume with things you actually haven't done, but I imagine this would be easy to get away with if you weren't stupid about it.
>>
>>55926421
You're an applefag, don't even bother
>>
>>55926428
Read the book.

Also, check out Google's DeepMind project. They don't teach the computer how to solve the problem, they teach it how to learn how to solve the problem itself.
Obviously we're still far away from creating a superintelligence, but it would just be stupid to think that it could never happen.
Also, read the fucking book. It's good and will answer damn near any question you have.

We're making year over year improvements. Neural networking is getting crazy now. And you have to understand that tech is going to be unrecognizable in 10-15 years from now, so now is the perfect time to start worrying

Alright, so I have a workstation and I just bought some Registered RAM. Problem is, it doesn't fucking work, and it definitely SHOULD. Now, Lelnovo says max specs for this thing is as follows:
Memory

Type DDR3 Unbuffered SDRAM
ECC Supported
Maximum Capability : 1600MHz, UDIMM : PC3-10600 (1333MHz), RDIMM : PC3-8500 (1066MHz)
Max DIMM Sizes : 4GB
Maximum system memory : 24GB

Now, I am 100% positive that these limitations are sheerly based on the W3550 inside of it. I'm going to put an L5640 in there, and I have two questions:

First, will the L5640 be compatible with my system? It's an S20, by the way, and I'm sure it will be. Same socket and everything, but I just want to be sure.

Second, what is the maximum size and number of RAM that I can use for that processor? I currently have an 8GiB module.

Hey dudes, this probably belongs here, hope you can help. My phone is from Korea and won't connect for data to the network it's using. Fine for everything else.

Didn't know where else to post this. I have an ipod classic and for awhile it's been very hard to get it to charge or connect, the only way now for me to get it to charge is to either hope it somehow charges or hold the charger in tightly as it will connect then, it's not the charger cable itself as I have several different ones of the generic apple chargers. I'm wondering if a completely different charger may help or if I should try and open it up and somehow fix what's wrong.

Just press File > New when you open KeePass. It literally creates a database which you can save anywhere on your computer, with a password. Now that database can only be opened with a password and using KeePass.

Right Click > Copy > Paste. It's that simple, anon. You can also go to File > Export or File > Save As. If you're extra paranoid about security, you can also have a file that needs to be attached as well as a typed password when you open the database.

What options do I have for personalising/editing explorer.exe's appearance? (Win 7) I wish to avoid 3rd-party software and patches only to avoid risk of malware. Worst comes to worst, I'll pirate Windows Style Builder.

I''ve downloaded a big torrent with tixati and it filled up my disk saying there is no space left for a log file. Whenever I move anything to an external drive, doesn't matter how big, it fills up the the disk to 0 bytes available. Why does it do this?
I've quadruple checked that nothing else is running in the background or whether I have a worm installed. Disk cleanup 0 bytes, ccleaner 0 bytes.
Size of hard disk (not ssd): 120GB
Torrent: 40GB
Already moved data to free disk space: 20 GB

I want to be able to edit literally everything there. Exit/Minimise/Maximise button images, padding, visibility. Icons on folder tree. Icons on buttons. Search box text. Everything.

I am willing to use stuff like bblean/bb4win, but if I could just edit explorer.exe properties, that would be great.

2500k IF you plan on overclocking that motherfucker hard. Otherwise go for the 3470
>>
>>55928867
You don't even need to overclock very much to beat it
2500k should do 4.2 easy and that would still give 20% better performance than the 3470.
>>
>>55928897
That's not factoring in generational improvements. You usually see 10 to 15 percent general efficiency improvements for a new generation, so they're pretty evenly matched with the overclock and the 2470 should come out on top without it. They're both getting to be a little on the old side, but you shouldn't notice it too much with a sub $200 gpu
>>
>>55928957
*3470
>>
>>55928957
Its more like 5-10%
And the estimation I did was comparing the benchmark score and multiplying it by the overclock percent, not just comparing clock speeds.
