let's talk about backpacks.
backpacks, briefcases, duffels, good luggage combinations and brands. also discussion of different types of bags and their ergonomic strongpoints; which bags fit which carried tech; etc.
i know this is from reddit, but no reddit-tier edc circlejerking or bag bragging allowed.
Literally nothing to do with technology. Bags are about as low-tech as it gets.

suck a dick, still better than desktop threads.
they're tech accessories and are essential for anyone who needs their tech stuff for work or uni or whatever. for real, we have /tpg/, mouse threads, pen threads, /hpg/ and the circlejerkers from edc threads. all of those can pertain to this conversation, and at least this won't be focused on
>muh guns
vs
>muh no guns
bullshit. i am generally curious about how other people who are heavy tech users, and use expensive/particular stuff, carry it all around safely and effectively.
anyone have any suggestions for something like cocoon packs? i need a bag that has good compartmentalization, but i don't like the general style of the bag itself. maybe something with a bunch of pockets?
and does anyone else use carabiners to stop wires from tangling?

Used cheap eastpak for daily. My wishlist is on that pic, the côte n ciel one.
I just want a Lowepro ProTactic 350.
Mostly for day trips when I go traveling and such.
I've got an old Haglöfs InCase 15" which is falling apart.
the reason i need good organisation is my part time job is IT and maintenance stuff. i am, in sorts, on call for many hours at a time, so i carry my schoolwork and laptop around as well as a multitool, a socket set, music gear for jogging, and a rainjacket basically all the time. i broke a mouse the other day and decided that i need an upgrade in size, strength, and organization. my current bag is a noname bag i got at a goodwill
all that said, i've been checking out the timbuk2 rogue. however, i don't know if i am paying for the 'style' or if the quality warrants the price. i like the idea of a floptop so i can get going quickly, but the one compartment style is what led me to break my mouse, not to mention pencils every day. i've also looked at targus a lot but with how cheap they are i have doubts about durability

Got this bad boy as a present, Shape Shifter by Think Tank.
It's a photographer's backpack but the inside pockets are nice to compartmentalize my shit, plus it has a laptop pocket and it's comfy as hell.
Only downside it's that it's huuuge, but I'm a >big guy so np
>>55881696
Currently using a jansport right pack, works well enough.
Was using a chrome fortnight, gave that to my mom though.
anyone try the targus iq? looks neato amd useful but i don't want to lose my powerbrick and such if it turns out that it frays or rips at all those seams

Are you all homeless or students?
No self-respecting adult past 24 uses a backpack.
>>55881696
Huh. So what's a good thin backpack for a 13 inch laptop?
I was about to but the INCASE City Compact Backpack
>>55883142
i'm a student and also homeless most the time because my roommate has orgies with ugly people but pays 2/3 rent
>>55883211
Does he kick you out or are you just squeamish about being in the same room?
>>55883142
Messenger bags are the homosexual answer to lady bags.
Briefcases can't be comfortably worn on the shoulders.
Backpacks are the only functional solution.
If you are self-respecting and not a homosexual, you wear a backpack and you look good wearing it past 24.
>not using the Ortlieb Rucksack Adaptor
Why live?
>>55883330
I have a backpack, I only wear it on one shoulder because I hate the way it feels when i wear it correctly.
I also have a messenger bag, which I like a lot better, but it stores fuck-all.
If I'm lucky, it holds my computer and a coffee canister.
>>55883211
>>55883296
i participate sometimes when cute people are there but he is fat and hairy and his favorite partners are other hairy guys. i do like the chubby koreans he pays to come occasionally
>>55881696
Got this for free in coyote tan so its what I use. Amazing at carrying shit and is versatile to strap extra stuff in to the outside.
>>55883369
You are precisely like i am, also wearing my backpack over one shoulder, except i hate messenger bags.
Every time i see them i think of lady bags attempting to be unisex, or of civil-servantry.
As for belt bags. We literally call them "poofers" around here.
>>55883369
try timbuk2. they have some more serious looking bags with fake leather trim, and they have a particular design of strap that some people love, others not.
I got pic related for 50 yuros and i love it, i also managed to get enough clothes for 2 days
>>55881696
They are all ugly. I guess its ok for neckbeards and teenagers but I am 25 and unless its some crosscountry trek I would not wear any of those.
>>55883455
>belt bag
you mean a fanny pack?
>>55883510
Yeah.
>>55883211
>>55883419
i also just like walking and reading/shitposting from trees and cafes. that's why i need a good pack
I only use Swiss Gear backpacks.
>>55883550
not to be a /fa/g but the red cross is really offputting. i have to use victorinox branded gear only.
I use the 5.11 RUSH MOAB™ 10 (the little bag attached to the back of the big one) because it attaches to my 5.11 Responder 84 ALS™ Backpack.
I have a myth messenger bag with trigun on it.
I've never even seen trigun.
Replace all plastic strap loops with metal keyrings, they will break if you run down stairs.
I wanna buy a messenger bag but I don't want to look like a fag.
Are there any bags that don't look effeminate?
Sorry senpai, I'm not a terrorist.
>>55883702
messenger bags from timbuk2, the north face, and other "gear" brands are usually just sleek enough to make you look slightly tryhard or autistic instead of raging homo
>>55883702
I knew a big student athlete guy who used one. Certainly wasn't effeminate. He reminded me of Fred from scooby doo. All about your personality bro.
S-should I?

Can you wear backpacks into professional offices in America? If I wore one in to my office your pleb level would increase immediately and quite substantially. Some form of satchel/messenger bag is the only way to go.
>>55883851
>If I wore one in to my office your pleb level would increase
I wear it to my office and nobody questions it because everyone knows i go to the gym afterwards and i need the space.
Also, i look like i could beat the shit out of everyone. kek
>>55883835
that actually looks pretty nice considering it is weebshit. i love nge ngl
>>55883960
That's the only reason you could get away with it where I live, but even then people would expect you to use an over the shoulder grip bag or something for your gym gear. Maybe if you're a cyclist or something or you run into work you could get away with it...
But generally speaking walking into a professional workplace with a two strap backpack just seems childish/lack of style at best, borderline autistic at worst where I am. Must be an America/Europe thing.
>>55884047
using an outdoor backpack or a fashion bag would be distasteful for a normal office, but a plain jansport or similar doesnt seem that out of place
>>55881696
>no dsptch
shameful
>>55884047
>with a two strap backpack
Who the hell wears backpacks on both shoulders?
I wear it over one shoulder. Having a backpack glued to my back is like a catch 22 where it gets infused with stench faster, AND inflicts more sweat on my back thus accelerating stench buildup even faster.
If i need to run with the backpack, i just fasten it downwards with that side's arm.

I use a coyote bag with a couple pouches attached. I also use the gay multicolored gear (Jacsko cable management) ties from target because they are cheaper than the normal ones, useful as fuck. I dump a shit ton of stuff into it and I still want more space.
My bag, SOC elite, don't mix them up with the gay SOG brand unless you want a shitty impractical bag for twice as much
