PCB mount has 2 extra pins. So you need flush cutters to cut them off. That's the only difference between PCB and Plate mount.

7) Why does it seem like /g/ hates Razer and Corsair mechanical keyboards?
- Razer has changed from Cherry switches to Kailh switches without reducing the price of their products
- While using Kailh switches isn't inherently terrible, Razer have switched purely to increase their profits

- Corsair mechanical keyboards have a certain aesthetic to them which attracts a specific demographic
- Corsair boards use a non-standard layout for the 5th row. This makes buying after market keycap sets difficult
- There have been reports of quickly dying LEDs on certain Corsair models
- RGB versions of this keyboard have had numerous issues with drivers and flickering

>>55885551
i didnt realize it was in the FAQ

>>
>>55886460
>>55886513

you should invest in a proper palmrest the garbage plastic ones that come w/ most boards also end up being connected to a shitty board

palm rests are the fastest most surefire way to give yourself an rsi
>>
>>55886513
>>55886548
Any recommendations? I'm not even sure where to start looking. Plus, being connected is a plus as it won't move around as much.
>>55886587
As opposed to what, having an inch vertically between my wrist and the keyboard? That would cause far more strain on my wrist than keeping it on a stationary palmrest.

Just keep in mind that all Cherry G80-1800s are produced with Cherry MX Black switches. I also like blue switches but this doesn't feel bad to type on, the resistance is similar without the tactile clicks.

It was $90 last week, I might have bought the last one and despite the shitty pic it will most likely come in white with a non-standard bottom row (all R4-sized keys)

Alright, rate my first keyboard.

Used some HP membrane keyboard before this, friend suggested I get a mechanical keyboard so I built my own. Used a Teensy 2.0 to program, and Gateron Brown switches, and 4 Greens for Home/PageUp/Down/End.

Was actually really straight forward, pretty fun. And as usual, I am thorough ass at wiring.

I don't see why you would need a silent board considering how quiet non silenced switches are but if you bottom out a lot (if you come from membrane that's all you do) o rings can help but the upstroke sound is inevitable unless you get something like silenced topre

I'm on the market for a high quality board in the ~$150 ish range, looking at the ducky shine 5 and the filco majestouch 2.

It's too l8 the email is sent but it's okay I'll somehow afford it on my dirt salary. Honestly I don't mind paying more for a reliable keyboard. I know that if I brought my normal mechanical keyboard to work it'd break faster then a teenage girl In a Mexican prison and I don't wanna have to get new keyboards every week cause the bleach we use to scrub everything rapes it. Any other suggestions for indestructible keyboards with that oh so sexy HHKB feel?

How much are the maltron boards? Sorry I'm at work.

>>55917798
DAH. why arent you at least auto resizing pics with 4chan setting?
>>
>>55917758
Too much probably desu. This is why I said build one. The ones I know that are waterproof/-resistant are all over 60% (and from cherry). Whatever you do, get one that has holes in the bottom so that liquids can flow out.

Alright thanks homie will make sure to look for those holes. It's a shame they don't make good mechanical keyboards for hazardous environments :^(
>>
>>55917758
whatever you decide to go with make sure to put your name on it in an obnoxiously big/visible place so it doesnt get swiped and dont trust the lockers at work. lost stethoscopes out the ass this way until I had my name etched onto a new one

Is it worth it?
>>
>>55919951
I just picked that because it was the cheapest mechanical keyboard with cherry mx switches I could find.
>>55919108
I have an ibm model m i think i can deal with the noise
>>
>>55920231
fuck no, Topre is releasing a new board that blows that shit out of the water soon
>>
>>55920421
A fullsized ugly as fuck rgb meme board that will probably cost twice as much a novatouch.
>>
>>55920421
The Realforce RGB? I hear that's coming out of the gate at ¥20000 and full size.
>>
>>55920487
Only saw a full versions at Computex, saw both Realforce and Type heaven versions so I think there's a high chance of TKL versions too anyway fullsize doesn't concern me too much. I heard 250 price tag for Realforce fullsize. The main reason I find them interesting is being able to set the distance actuation and possible non-shit Mx compatible sliders.

If you don't get your product or it's significantly delayed then you should have no problems getting a refund from Massdrop.
That drop in particular is one they've done a few times and they're trying to get rid of the leftovers both they and their distributor have (notice how the black option is gone because it's sold out).
