They are close if lubed, but definitely not as tactile. At least not as R1 Zealios, as I heard they changed the bottom housing on R2 to be the same as regular gateron switches.

I first got a Redragon Kumara, but I might as well have been using a membrane. The switches were advertised as being green equivalents but they sounded like blues, looked like browns, and felt like a keyboard that you could find in a 2005 middle school classroom. Right now I'm typing on a Magicforce 68 with the low end Outemu Blues, and I like the way that the switches feel more than the Redragon, but I'd still like something with a higher actuation force and better quality switches in general. Also, there's a shitton of key jamming on this Magicforce, which is a negative.

>>
>>55926415
I'm guessing he means it's a meme because it's CM and hybrid Topre. But the reviews are solid, and the hybrid switch allows for plenty of caps that go great with the minimalist design of the NovaTouch. I have one shipping to me now because the deal was good. I can't say it's worth it yet because I don't have it yet, but I've done a lot of reading on reviews and the board holds its own against the competition (but may not be the greatest).

Maybe a bit normie tier because i've never heard of these brands in the thread but i've had a k70 vengeance with browns for about 3 years now.

I'm starting to desire more clicky switches but this keyboard is still fully functioning so i'm thinking of picking up something on the cheaper side.

I don't ever use my back lighting on this thing, but I do need to keep the numpad stuff and be a full size keyboard.

I've been looking at the pok3r and the wasd v2 TKL. The pok3r has pbt keycaps but no altgr-intl printed on and is 60%. The wasd ships with abs caps and the case is made out of plastic unlike the pok3r which has a metal case. So far I'm leaning towards the pok3r but I'm not sure about the size. Anybody want to tell me what their experience with it has been like?

I'm looking for a good mechanical keyboard which might be suitable for both gaming and doing normal activity. People here some threads ago recommended me to go with red switches, then I started looking around, when I met this today: http://www.drako.it/drako_catalog/product_info.php?products_id=18426
Is it good according to you? is the price too high? Shipping is free and VAT is included, the only downsied of this keyboard being the LED, which I will hopefully disable. As an alternative, I thought about getting a Filco Majestouch 2 Red Switches, which should cost me about 160 euro including VAT and shipping fees, but the Filco doesn't have an italian layout available, which is quite a huge downside to me.
>>
>>55932972
I recommend you go to any electronic box store and type on the mechanical keyboards there to see what switch is your favorite.

>>55933114
> do you really need the Italian keys?
Yes, because they have accent letters which are super comfy to recognize immediately when writing Italian.

> or do you really need red switches

See above. I was oriented towards Brown, but people here told me that Brown aren't really useful.
What I want to know is if the mech keyboard I linked is good and if it's not worthy that price. If I really want Brown switches, I could always get a Cooler Master QuickFire XT for like 109 euro and italian layout.
What are your suggestions?

Control is at the lower left corner of the board, where it usually is. I'd change it to be on cockslap, but I'm not going to use this thing anyway (I don't use ISO since my first board, this one's going to a friend once it's done), so I'll just leave modifying the keymap to his liking to him.

I'm honestly confused. Should I go Blue switches and call it a day? I wouldn't mind the high click clack sound, even though I have no idea how much it could affect the sound in my headphones when I'm listening to music or when I'm playing (I'm using an open headphone, no isolation from outside noise).

I was being facetious, anon. Get a damn keyboard.
>>
Bought a 80-90$ Rosewill with mx browns as my first memeboard. Fucking love it so far.

Is there anything to gain by going with a more expensive keyboard? I've already noticed my fingers don't get nearly as fatigued from playing vidya and shitposting all day.
>>
>>55935329
I don't know, what is closer to a standard rubber dome of a laptop? I would like a keyboard that causes less strain on my wrist and my fingers. The rubber dome keyboard of my laptop gets fatiguing after an hour or two spent on typing.
>>
So /mkg/ how do cherry greens sound compared to blues? I hate the high pitched click of blues are the greens any better?
>>
>>55935458
They sound pretty much the same, they are just a bit stiffer thats all
>>
>>55935448
If your laptop keyboard is hurting you, why do want a mech that feels similar? You don't really 'transition' into a mechanical keyboard, it's just a tool you start using. You clearly type a lot, so don't get a 'gaming' oriented switch; blues are pretty much the standard for typing, that and Model Ms.
>>
>>55935557
Yeah I asked about their comparison with rubber domes out of curiosity. Ok thank you. Are blue switches also good for playing games anyways? I normally play only fps.
This could be a good solution for me: http://www.keyboardco.com/cart.asp

It should be 151 €, which is only 2€ more expensive than the Cooler Master gaming keyboard I was talking about before. The Filco looks much much better to me though.
>>
>>55935639
I'm a console gamer and all my current boards are ALPS so I can't say for sure; I'm sure another anon who types a lot and games a lot can give you a good answer.
>>
>>55935715
Thank you anyways. I'm still torn between Cherry MX Blue and Red switches. I want an easy and unfatiguing keyboard, I really don't mind the sound, but at the same time I'd love a a fast keyboard with a good response. Filco Majestouch 2 Blue has the great advantage of being available with italian layout, whereas Majestouch 2 Red only has US layout. On the other hand Red Switches are really light compared to Blue ones though, which should be a plus to me, since I'm not the kind of guy who would love to press any key to the bottom. This said, why do people say that blues cause less strain and are more comfortable for long typing sessions, even though blues are heavier than reds? I can't understand this point.

Because with blues people usually start releasing the switch after the bump/click, while on reds you usually bottom out, as there is no way to tell if you hit the activation point yet.

About gaming, yes, blues are fine. There is a little issue when double tapping tho, e.g. you hit aa to strafe on a game, blues will click on the first a, but not on the second if you dont release the key enough. They will still register just fine, so its just a matter of getting used with.

Btw, when people say reds are lighter than blues, its just about their actuation force. Bottom out force is almost the same between the two.
>>
>>55937042
Oh I see, thank you for the explanation. As for the strafe issue you mentioned, I shouldn't have many problems, since I don't usually press the same strafe button more than once, I usually press a and d alternatively. Considering what you said, I must assume that blues are also more accurate than reds, since when blues are pressed you always feel when you activate them, am I right? At this point, blues might be the best options to me.

Because the keys are made with thick PBT (thinner in Unicomps vs originals). They still probably last 15-20 years in those, pretty sure originals would last through the apocalypse.

I have boards that sat in an open dump for 10+ years and worked 100% when I plugged them in. The rivets are another story, so go with model Fs if you want to buy used.

But if the person looking to buy a keyboard has no budget and wants to buy something like Browns, which are tactile and 45g, why would they not like something which is tactile and 35g, like Gateron Clear? Cherry MX Clear is just a different direction.
>>
>>55947713
Browns would be nice.
>>
>>55947766
Gateron clears are not tactile. This was my point. I would love tactile gateron clears, but they do not exist.
They are completely different than cherry clears

There's some drama going on about the tactile clears and zealios.
As far as I know only winkeyless has them in stock. Every other place has the 35g linear switch. I would recommend getting them because they are much cheaper than the purple switch.

/cic/-clickin' in class hype.

Set my bro Jeff up with a similar set up to mine. Check his rig. He got blue switches though so when the professor really starts talking fast Jeff is clickin' like crazy! haha.

Anyways everyone else has macbooks and gives us looks sometimes but I just look at them and say, "what? we distracting you from your facebook page?"

It's not like they are listening to the professor anyways.

I'm looking for a mechanical keyboard, mainly for gaming.

I'd like red switches, and RGB lighting. Nothing made by Razer, obviously.

I'm currently using a Qpad MK-70, and I've gotten used to having the USB passthroughs on my keyboard, but I could live without having them there.

Which keyboard would you /g/uys recommend that I buy? I've heard mixed things about the Corsair K70, as well as the Qpad MK-90.

the build quality feels better on an 87U
might just be me or the additional weight from the mx slider portion makes the switch slightly less satisfying
>>
>>55951954
I've had one with outemu blacks sitting in my cart for like 5 days, I haven't pulled the trigger yet. All my boards are ALPS, so I thought it might be a good introduction to the world of MX compatibles
>>
>>55941838
Can you still buy these caps anywhere?
>>
>>55920679
This looks great.

I've always used red switches because I prefer them to blues and none of the boards I like come with blacks. The problem is I put a lot of pressure on the keys when I type so they bottom out very hard. Maybe I'll record myself typing if it will help. I understand that I can change the feeling of my keys with lubrication or orings. What can I expect from either? Will the oring make the bottom out less jaring?
>>
>>55954981
I think the reason why they are so expensive is because they can't afford volume and have to be done one by one.

An injection molding machine of the caliber must cost at least 200000 dollars and with one key cap a day at $260 it would take two and a half years to get your money back
>>
I found a keyboard I like. Epicgear Defiant - the good thing is it's fully modular, you can switch the switches themselves and have reds on your WASD while the rest is blue for example, then it has custom sticker covers so you can change the color of your keyboard and addon USB hub at the back.

The only downside it that it has some knockoff Cherry - "EG switches"

Are they any good? Did anyone use this keyboard?
>>
>>55955855
All the knock offs I have tried have been totally fine. The reds on my $35 board feel just like the reds on my $100 noppo choc

I'm just afraid they are shit quality. On the other hand a whole box of spare switches is €15.

Shit just looks too good. You can completely change it. The only downside is the non-detachable numpad. It would then reach the godlike levels of modularity.
>>
>>55956180
So just buy cherry switches and change the ones it comes with.

I personally think it's disgusting. Better off with a $35 red dragon or magicforce from amazon.

The trailer wedges have a purpose, sort of. You can attach macro keys to them. The default board looks like this >>55955855 The rest is the shit you may or may not buy extra. I will probably only buy the metallic back thing, since it has a USB hub.

It isn't slim either. It's just the right kind of thick, the huge bezels support your palm at the right place, so you don't feel the thickness at all. Big bezels are actually a good thing.

Just now, I dropped water on my keyboard (K90 Corsair), removed the plug, took off all the caps, clean it, seems like it's dead, kind of idiotic since my $20 dollar key/mice wireless combo from logitech survived more than that.

But I am wondering is there any way to save it? is this a good keyboard? https://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00AOIRCI6/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1470487613&sr=1-2&keywords=CM+Storm+QuickFire+TK
