Almost finished the bandit wargame. It's okay albeit a bit boring for someone that know how to use GNU/Linux. Looking forward to the next games.
Keep these threads going mate they're great. Can't wait to play CTF or something along those lines.

GG dude, Natas is pretty fun but gets hard, Leviathan is difficult, and I can't do Narnia for the life of me (without help)

I don't really get the "1337" netsec stuff either. I made some basic UDP quake network clone with C sockets.h a while back and found out quickly it's a shitty idea to let the user send anything but unprocessed input, ie sending "shoot rocket" 100 times a second can't have any effect as the server processes the time between shots.
I've hacked about 5 game server architectures by just sending tampered packets to fuck with the server, ie raining grenades, flying, teleporting or outright crashing it.
I quickly found out this kind of stuff can be applied to other kinds of servers, except in these cases there are even bigger programming mistakes to exploit like the user sending exact byte amounts of data to request, to be sent and to be done X with. Only found 2 of such cases to exploit but only by either crashing the server or getting data(from a char array I figure) I was not supposed to get.
I always cringe when I see these netsec threads. I mean reading "UNIX Network programming Vol 1" made me smarter than 95% of the people here and that's just depressing.

That alone makes this thread worth it.

And plus, how much of the "hackers" know C anyways? And I don't mean "I read K&R once" but a well round medium amount of actual development experience.
