I don't want to switch to linux, an engineering friend of mine switched but couldn't revert back to windows without going through alot of bullshit because apparently linux lays down some sort of feature that prevents easy transitions to different OSs.

the only major benefit of win10 seems to be Dx12, which I don't really care for. I'll just use a installation media and revert back to win7 using a rollback tool so that I can get win10 for free in the future

I haven't used windows in a few years, but I'm installing my old windows 7 serials on a virtual machine so I can update them to windows 10.
Then I'll have windows 10 on a virtual machine image I can save later for use.

You can do the same with your current windows 7 serial. Just install the free vmware player on your linux or windows computer, and install windows 7 through an iso. Then put your current windows 7 serial in vmware and it will activate windows when it's installed. Once windows 7 is installed in vmware, go to microsoft's website and update to windows 10.

This program works pretty well to pull the fresh windows 10 serial after you've installed it in vmware.

The windows 10 upgrade takes a few hours because it's downloading the entire image. But after it's done, you can pull the serial and use it in the future.
