>be me
>work for an IT department in my company for about 6 years
>everything is awesome
>in 2015 company experienced an unusually quick growth, and expanded its operations
>they needed more IT dudes quickly
>went for cheap labor, instead of quality one
>we now have 4 new guys right off the boat
>they seem nice... but they DO NOT SHOWER or USE DEODORANT!!!!!
>I have to smell their sweat for 8+ hours a day, 5 days a week, in a small room that we share
>I also fear, that my position, as much as I dislike it now, is in jeopardy

I have discovered, that they are willing to work for $13/hour, while I get paid $27. And while my expertise and experience are infinitely greater, I do not feel particularly safe. They can hire 2 newbie guys, instead of keeping me.

For those who work in a tech field, have you experienced an inflow of lesser quality staff, just because they are cheaper? How did it affect you, and your workplace in general? Is this sustainable?

>IT 6 years
>can be replaced easily

Your doing it wrong.

If you get replaced then you deserve it. If you aren't full of shit your ex-company deserves what happens.

End of the day, you work for yourself and your company just pays for your existence in the office. If you are proud of your work then you should concentrate on that.

What type of environment do you work in? Are you dealing with the public at all? If so, I would say you are safe. Odds are other people including other employees will most likely say something. Especially if it's as bad as you say. I don't get paid a ton at my job but I do know they could hire a couple noobs for the price of me, yet they don't.
If your job/boss has any fucking brains they will realize you are more of an asset then two sweaty smelly fucking neck beards.

I do not want to sabotage their work. They do a passable job, and it helps me out, since I don't have to babysit them. I just want them to shower, that's all. The room is way to small to have my own personal area, and escape the stench.

The job is fine, but the smell is not. Is there a polite way to solve this? My bosses are PC to the max.

>>55808050
While I feel, that I am a great asset, I can not read my boss' mind. If he decides to cheap out, then I am a goner no matter what. I also do not kiss ass, and never will. A crafty ass-kisser can probably earn a lot more favorable position than me.

Are these new guys somewhat down to earth? If you don't think they'll throw a fit over it you could just mention it to them. Some dudes are just kinda dense that way, they don't smarten up until someone says something.

Sysadmin in an Eastern European country.
I work in a quite small (elementary/high) school, 23€/h, got this job thanks to contacts, never really learned IT.
Best part is I work alone, I mostly don't have to go in, most of my work is related to installing Powerpoint and projectors, rarely have to do intensive hours long work.
Even better, the way the system works here, we have to waste a certain amount of money every year in the IT side of the school, so I just buy enthusiast grade video cards for teachers computers for physics simulations (never actually do any, but I have to write something) and take a few cards for myself, nobody really cares and there's nobody to check on it., doing this with not just video cards.

I also don't have to worry about losing my job, because the county mayor and school director are close friends of family.

I won't go into more detail, you faggots have asked my questions about my work several times before anyways, but feel free to ask.

>discover Upwork, Elance, and Freelancer, make accounts on all of them
>constantly being beat out for jobs because I charge $35/hr and pajeet and rest of the curries charge $4/hr for things like standing up cloud infrastructure, managing RHEL infrastructure, network security, Solaris admin stuff, Liferay Architect, Virtualization architect, etc.
>Only land gigs when client requires US based freelancer
>eek out a living making less than half of my old salary before getting fired because of criminal charge.
>can't get new clients because now filipinos have joined for $5/hr and they speak better engrish than curries.
>last month seriously considered leaving IT all together to drive a truck or something.
>at last visit to P.O. find out I'm eligible for early release in 6 weeks. Will get a reduction in my charge so I can go back to work making real money again.

I just had a look at my Upwork profile and I received exactly 2 views in the last month. Curries have flooded the market with their cheap labor and clients are turning to them first.
>>
>>55807907

Seriously, I started in IT on a helpdesk making $15/hr. within 3 years I was at $30/hr and two years later I was at $47/hr. Before I caught my case I wouldn't roll out of bed for less than $55/hr much less get dressed for less than $65/hr-$70/hr.

From experience they usually learn pretty fast that 'cheap < quality' after kicking the last competent worker and shit keeps breaking and customers start suing.

Same thing happens with indians, as soon as you outsource anything to india the complaints keep piling up
>>
i have told two indian fellow cow-orkers that they need to shower because of BO and they said thanks and started showering in the morning. well, one did, the other told me i am wrong because they use axe. I had to get hr to convince him.

quality > cheap

outsourced work to india or china === more problems than a solution.

imagine hiring a US company and paying US prices for US quality but it is made by gurpets and rajeets in a filthy shithole office in india.

1. Buy a round of deodorant
2. Leave deodorant in/on each of their desks when you're the only one around
3. Pay a woman $5 on a microgig website to write an anonymous complaint to HR about being harassed by smelly pajeets
4. Raise pigeons
5. Locate pajeet cars, introduce to freshly squeezed pigeon
6. Get really good at playing the markets
7. Once you have enough money to retire, invest it into hiring several crackheads for life to follow pajeets around and make bird noises at them
8. At this point you should have upgraded your pigeons to target pajeet cars autonomously
9. Challenge pajeets to a game of chess
10. Replace all the pieces with pigeons
11. Say "Checkmate Pajeets"
12. As pajeets realize the error of their ways, you have already boarded a boat bound for pajeetland
13. Declare pajeetland a colony in the holy name of God Emperor Trump
14. Receive colonization bonus and spend it on mass exportation of pigeons to pajeetland.
15. Military occupy pajeet houseshacks, place a stick of deodorant on each of their desks without leaving any other trace you were there
16. wake up
17. have a cuppa
18. read the newspaper
19. go to the bathroom
20. poo in loo

You're fucking scum. You have no idea how any of your stuff works since it's just a cobbled together mess built by different 3rd parties vendors and support techs that you called when you couldn't figure it out. You spend your days jerking off in your cubicle and bandaging your infrastructure with shitty workarounds instead of improving yourself and preparing for new technologies.

Once SDN and Orchestration make their way to the SMB market 95% of you will be out of a job.

Don't forget their favorite word;
AGILE
>>
>>55807216

Welcome to a special lesson in Economics, Anon. Brought to you by the same markets that suffered it, which include:
Customer Service, Customer Support, Construction Labor, Retail Sales, Inside Sales, Commercial Art, Manufacturing, Cooking, Product Distribution, and many more.

No, seriously. There are plenty more markets than just IT that are being drown out by people willing to do an inferior job, for less money, and companies love it. Why pay American Minimum Wage to have people answer phones and call clients regarding product orders when Pajeet can do it for $3/Hr. Why pay some ungodly money to a Local Artist to paint stuff for your waiting room, when Paderpa will paint you whatever you want for basically pennies and shipping. Who would hire Joe Average and his buddy Bob to dig a trench when Jose and Ricardo will take a quarter of the pay, no breaks, and show up early and work late. Would anyone pay some Sous Chef a REAL salary when you can make your executive chef train 2 teenagers to do the same things he'd need a Sous Chef for, and at minimum wage, too?!

Ultimately, Anon, the answer is: Value. Companies don't see the value in the work these workers do beyond the basics. The Value of a phone answered is the same to them if the customer is angry, or happy, as long as it's answered. And if the value of the work you guys are doing is as basic as "did it get done" then you're right fucked until YOU change their way of thinking to show "No, theres more to what I do than just getting it done."
>>
>>55813314
>AGILE
Which is ironic. Once IT infrastructure truly becomes "agile" they're going to find that their skillsets are no longer needed and they'll be kicked to the curb or relegated to desktop support if they're lucky.
>>
>>55813467
No they won't desu.
Even when they implement AGILE companies will always need cucks to "fix" Outlook for the yes men.
Not to forget companies always will need someone to go into a conference room and get bent over and fucked by an ISP.
>>
>>55813490
>companies will always need cucks to "fix" Outlook for the yes men
Hence the few saps they keep around for desktop support.

>someone to go into a conference room and get bent over and fucked by an ISP
True, but it wouldn't be too much trouble to throw some middle-management cuck in there instead.

Agile is one of those many things which is brilliant, but 99% of corporations just do it so wrong because they try to bog it down and directly translate it to their concepts of governance, accountability, traceability etc.

>>55814914

That's all very nice, but even when you ignore all independent studies that showed no correlation between aluminium and dementia, even if you ignore that all the studies that showed a link were massively flawed, you still have to answer the fact that only MINIMAL amounts of aluminium enter your body via your deodorant

It's completely negligible compared to the amount of aluminium you eat and breath
>>
>>55815035
>showed no correlation between aluminium and dementia,
> MINIMAL amounts of aluminium enter your body via your deodorant
>It's completely negligible compared to the amount of aluminium you eat and breath

i still dont follow. are you pointing out that aluminum does cause dementia and that we ingest more than we put on?
>>
>>55814997
So which is it? Aluminum causes Alzheimers or, aluminum causes autism? I see a lot of kooks leading the debates against aluminum.
>>
>>55815072
I'm saying that there's no correlation between aluminium and dementia and even if there was you could still use a deodorant because most of the aluminium in your body enters via food, water and air
>>
>>55815072
>are you pointing out that aluminum does cause dementia
No, if it did we'd all be fucked. Aluminum readily leeches into foods in the presence of weak acids. Put a piece of foil in a bowl of spaghetti sauce, it will corrode and develop holes in about 24 hours.
Dementia has existed forever/before the advent of man using aluminum. It simply didn't appear as frquently in early times because other things killed people before old age did.

If the FDA pushes poison, then i have no doubt that all places where academics are needed are fraudulent, even NASA. Given the prestigious and prosperous record of the U.S. just fucking shit up to its own people, you should worry.

If he reports them for being smelly, they'll write him up for being a racist and force him to diversity sensitivity training or something.

Then they'll have a valid excuse to replace him with another dumb $13/hr worker and pocket the rest.
