I just set up mpc with a ton of extra things like svp, madvr, etc for the first time.
I went for full performance and I noticed my parts were hitting some relatively high temps (CPU around 70 C and GPU around 80 C).
Are those temperatures high enough to damage the parts or is it alright?

These files are all on the disc that came with my motherboard. My new computer doesn't have an optical drive. Can I simply copy and paste these files onto a flash drive and use that for my new computer? Will I be prompted to run something when I stick the flash drive in my new computer, or will I have to manually select something from within the flash drive?

Every Youtube video I've seen so far seems to only display anything on the monitor the GPU is connected to.

That's why I feel like the only way to actually use the laptop screen would be to somehow hook the GPU up to it directly, which probably isn't worth the trouble.

The laptop's screen stays on and everything though. It's just black and nothing seems to know it exists.

Not him, but the cost of 4790k is not much lower (at least in my case) and motherboards for it use only DDR3 RAM, while ones with 1151 socket (Skylake) uses DDR4 RAM.

If he is about to buy new motherboard, it doesnt make a sense for him to limit himself with old technology.

i5 is meh in such class build, with that budget I would do the following

- scrap heatsink completely for now, that means extra $150
- drop from gtx1080 to gtx1070 - extra $420

now I would drop i5 and would take i7-5820k with 6 real cores and 12 threads.
faggots will tell you its overkill, but comes zen everyone will have 6/8 cores with 12/16 threads, all the consoles are 8 cores.. it does play its role

you will need mobo change for 2011-v3 socket as well, could cost ya extara $50-$100, it still uses DDR4, which should be at least 2666MHz btw, above that the benefits drop

after this huge core change, you can come back again
>>

>>
>>55779145
its still an extremely serious gaming build
dont be jelly just because you have 4 cores with no multithreading

this is not 2013 anymore, games make use of many cores and multithreading. Again, every single console stands on 8 cores, well major console, not sure about Nintendo

The problem is that you're getting worse gaming performance by dropping the 1080 for a 1070

you do realize the difference between 4 core i7 unlocked and 6 core i7 5820k is just $100 australian dollars

>>55779222
but he will change the card sooner than changing the cpu
consider how poorly compares gtx780 and gtx980 to modern cards
that will happen in 2 years too

gtx1070 is enough to drive games, but value he gets from extra cores and threads in the future will be substantial

lets not forget about better overclockers, no stupid low quality thermal paste, no bending cpu with weight of a heatsink, mobo with better pcie lines for sli if interested...

i5 is enough for most, but seeing it in this level of build is kinda bleh
especially when price difference for those extra cores is so small

I swear you're just one guy lurking on all of the threads so he can spread the gospel of 6 cores. Just become a tripfag already so we can tune you out easier. 6 cores is for workstations. I get why you think it's for games, why you think there's been some great revolution in the last year. But the amount of games optimized to use 6 cores is minimal. It's not what people are expected to have, it's just some weird stopgap in the evolution of processing. And quit trying to claim that consoles have anything to do with it. It's a whole different ballgame when your entire user base has the exact same processor. Their optimization is wildly different from PC games

Sorry but you are exceptionally retarded if you think that games are coded like that, to special hardware in some strange way optimized.
What they can split to more processes they split, its exceptionally hard to code like that, parallel processing, but we are getting there.

Anyway game studios buy engine, engine is coded for huge variety of hardware, theres some underlying more to the hardware api now that makes absolutely irrelevant if it runs on AMD 8 core on playstation 4, xbox one or on fx 8350.

If you ever stopped saying that i7 provides no benefit over i5 (a popular idea few years back because it was mostly true), then if you understand how hyper threading works you are saying that real 6 cores also provide benefit.

I know theres always this adaptation period, retards will have hard time to ever acknowledge change in the world they come to be accustom to. Its threatening to them, they see themselves as having knowledge, and suddenly some new knowledge came, for some strange reason and it did not come from them, and its scary.

Stop being a retard jus because you went for 4 cores in 2016
Games use many cores now, especially many players multiplayers one
People record and encode on the gpu, but also stream their game, theres lots to do with more cores

Bro if you think consoles don't take advantage of hardware uniformity, you've got some reading to do. Why do you think games at the end of a consoles generation have so much better graphics? They've had time to optimize everything with one specific set of hardware in mind. I will give you that we are making improvements in multithreaded gaming with DX12/Vulcan, but most games don't bottleneck their processor, they reach the limit on their graphics card. 6 cores just isn't worth pouring resources into. It's pushing a specific technology with an extra cost and no guarantees of corresponding benefit. And I didn't go 4 cores myself, I went with a nice overclocable i7, but I do a lot more than just game. If you have something else you might want to do, by all means take it's requirements into mind.

>>
>>55779628
Previous gens generations were not x86 FYI
There was coding for hardware, specificly and taken advantage of no overhead
but the idea of coding multi threaded shit stands on fundamentals
if they figure out what to execute on what thread and sync the communication well between threads so it all moves nicely forward they do it same for all hardware.

And I guess that you buying i7 makes sense, you did not invest extra $150 and now you are bit jaded by seeing someone recommend something you passed on

Not being x86 is irrelevant. You can follow software optimization on the xbone really easily because everyone was nipicking about how quickly it could catch up to the PS4. I'm all for improvements in multithreading. I just feel like by the time it would matter they will have already moved on to something else. And no, I'm not "jaded", I'm perfectly happy with my processor. It isn't the limiting factor in my games. It isn't in most peoples games actually, especially if you go with nvidia for your gpu. Whenever people start throwing around accusations I tend to wonder if they're actually referring to themselves. Maybe because you spent an extra $150 you are really trying to justify it before your next upgrade rolls around. Just don't go recommending it over peoples actually helpful advice and we don't have a problem

>>
>>55779922
Well I don't know about AOMEI specifically. Every cloning tool has their own quirks and abilities. If you tell a tool to copy a partition that happens to have windows on it, but it doesn't take the special steps to make it windows bootable, that can mess things up. That's why I like using macrium reflect, because it's very good about doing that automatically. Is one of the partitions small, like 100-500 megabytes? Is it possible you missed a hidden partition that size on the old HDD?

It matters how you look at your drives. If a partition doesn't have a letter assigned to it, it won't appear in My Computer. If you look at them in Disk management or most partition managers it will show the hidden drives as well. Windows almost always uses a tiny partition outside of its main one. That partition is what your computer looks at when it first turns on, and without it your computer has no idea windows is even installed

If you are planning to no longer have windows on the old system, then there's a good chance. What you want to do is pair your system to a microsoft account then when you get the new system, call microsoft activation hotline and tell them you bought a new motherboard and you would like to reactivate windows
>>
>>55780244
Thanks
>>
>>55780229
Well, you could re-clone everything from the old drive. Or you could try repairing the boot for the new windows install. It's a little weird trying to describe how to do it. You could make a rescue cd with macrium reflect or a windows install disk and try to detect and repair the installation. Or you could use a tool specifically designed for your situation called easybcd. It's actually the easiest method, but the tool is a little confusing at first.

>pre-load saves time only whe you use it
> you need other resources to manage the unused loads in RAM

so:
every pre-load eventually waste more resources
than minutes saved in the long run

e.g.:
-if some "office suite" takes 5sec to pre-load every boot and saves you 10sec when you start it, then is more efficient not to pre-load than wasting 5sec every time you don't used it.

-I boot straight to the WM cause I never login as different user and the partition ask for password before kernel starts.

Any ideas as to why this thing is still so damn hot would be most welcome.

Cool. FYI you can actually do the same thing using easybcd, but then you would have to extend your partitions manually. Anyway, in your situation the bootloader for both is probably written to windows 10, not that it matters for what you're doing. You want to write a different, independent bootloader to each drive.

Alright so easyBCD is a little strange. First you pick your target. Under the "BCD Backup/Repair" button you can click "change boot drive" to copy your bootloader to a diferent drive. If you need to you can use "Re-creat/repair" to make new boot files.

Now you can edit your bootloader on the drive you have selected. Go to edit boot menu, choose if you want the loader to display every time you boot(in this case you dont), and remove all menu entries except the copy of windows installed to the partition you are currently modifying. If the right windows instance isn't listed, add it in "add new entry". The trick with adding entries or viewing things in "view settings" is that you need to make sure the drive letters are correct from the point of view of the operating system you are CURRENTLY BOOTED IN TO, regardless of which bootloader you are currently editing.

When you are done editing the first bootloader, go back to "BCD Backup/Repair" and click "change boot drive". This will copy (not move) the current bootloader, and all the changes you make from this point forward will now apply to the new partition you are pointing to. So you can give each partition their own, independent loader, and incidentally if you had started with a system reserved partition you would now be able to delete it.

I want to turn one of those rock band guitars into an actual instrument.
What is better for this, a raspberry pi or an arduino?
I found some really neat synth libs, but since these guitars lack buttons it might not be the thing, and you can't really "jam" with synths, its more of a table thing.
I also thought of using an sd card with an arduino, but the reader always returns failed when initializing, which makes me assume it's broken.
I'm reluctant to use a raspi since an arduino has alot of onboard protection whereas a raspi doesn't. But a raspi is multi-threading.

Thanks a ton bro. I genuinely really appreciate it.

Hi, hope this is a good thread for this, google wasn't helpful.
I seem to be in a snag. I was looking at a lot of neocities website and decided it would be fun to mess around. Here's the link : http://boredoms.neocities.org/ My problem is, the I configured for the video moves when resizing my browser's window from left to right. Moreover I am not sure if it's actually well positionned in other computers (it's supposed to cover the nipples).

Could someone recommend some good PSU's for the following hardware.
I just can't decide and can't find anything from logical increments that's recommended in my country.

A couple of them would be really nice.

i7 6700K
GTX1070
16GB DDR 4
SSD EVo 850 Samsung
HDD Toshiba 2TB
>>

Is the i5 6600k good?

I plan to use it as a general purpose computer. Gaming, some editing of video photo and audio, movie watching, etc. Just an all around computer.

If i had to say, it would probably be mostly for gaming.
>>
>>55784429
Its on par with for the highest single threaded performance CPU currently available which is important for a number of things still, including many games

It will do everything the average user wants for many years to come

An i7 would be better for heavy audio/video editing but the 6600k should be fine.
