I've seen others with very similar setups to mine have terrible DPC latency issues, so i'm not gonna bother until I know for sure it wont be a problem.

This computer is used for archiving for a private torrent tracker, as well as encoding. (hence the 5820k)

I have the RAM because it's X99 and quad channel so I needed 4 DIMMs and I had 8GB DIMMs in my last build (2x8GB) so I figured i'd go ahead and upgrade to 4x8GB for the new build. I use 4GB as a RAMDisk for browser cache.

You can turn off forced updates on the enterprise version, at least to an extent. I haven't tested what limitations it has. I know you can defer up to 8 months using group policy. Cortana can also be turned off using group policy.

you can only defer win 10 upgrades for like 1 year but you cannot fully disable from what i have read

let me tell you all a story-

one time i was like fuck apple so i never learned their bullshit os / hated their products b/c their ideologies were garbage etc etc overpriced bs

later i got a job and because i pigeon holed myself i wasnt able to support technically that garbage os, though my users that i needed to support had this bs os on the bs overpriced hardware.

moral of the story, you are stupid if you dont get windows 10 b/c everyone else is, and if you ever are going to be in a role where you have to support end user devices, they will probably be win 10, so even if you dont like it you should become familiar with it so that you can support it.


get it on a vm at least if you are going to work helpdesk anywhere, the same for osx or anything else that you hate. dont limit yourself b//c you have to support the people who buy that shit.
