I have a similar wall mount, one that has a swing out arm even. If you install it correctly then it is perfectly safe.
The mount obviously should be screwed (using heavy duty screws) into the studs, and the TV mount itself it made so you can't just accidentally 'pop' the tv off and let it fall on you.
