You demonstrate perfectly why UI discussion is next to impossible. You get tangled up with things like "bling" and "photorealistic icons", which I didn't mention at all. You *don't* address the real issues like usability and discoverability (ie. decades-old research about how UIs work). You classify anyone who wants these things as people who want "fisher-price UIs" and then dismiss their opinion with "fuck you". From my point of view, you seem to be a snobby 20-something person who just throws some controls on the screen with zero thought how it actually works. I admit my first post was quite snobbish too, but I really do hate flat UIs.

And for the record, I am well over 30 years old. Been programming since 1991. I created text mode UIs in 16-bit DOS that were better than many of the "modern" flat UIs. And DOS TUI is *very* flat if you think about it...
