Otherwise, his rate after the first 200k will drop to something like 0.05% instead.

That's STILL an ideal scenario, however, since almost every high-interest checking account offering is only available to people who live in a specific locality, i.e. that doesn't apply to notch. Moreover, these kinds of things don't tend to exist in other countries (depending on countries). In particular, it doesn't seem to exist in sweden. In fact, saving options in sweden are pretty nonexistent.

The fact that those banks don't exist for one. As I explained, the maxcap on these services is very low. Seems to range from 5k to 20k, most being around 10k. Not all institutions offer that service either.

Additionally, you have the locality issue, AND the transactions-per-period issue (on the 0.1% -> 0.05%, but still). To be precise, those are transactions made by debit card.

Note that depending on institution, there are also additionally applicable fees, such as periodic maintenance fees or transaction fees. Not always, though. Again, the higher the cap, the more likely you are to see fees.

If you are talking about transacting with yourself via debit, you'd need to own a company and a license to be allowed to do that. You would still not be able to reach the high interest rate on more than, say, 200k, so you actually gain little (though it would still be worth it on a 2b investment I'm sure).
