Hey /g/.
I'm looking for software that will lock down a phone, and let me teamviewer (Or otherwise remote control it, or start an app) whenever I want. It's a BDSM thing, my sub's been asking me to set up something to control their phone. Any advice? It's abit of a hassle to keep on restarting TV

you buy the phone
you make miui account
contact xiaomi that you want to unlock bootloader cause you foreigner
the account gets privilige to unblock bootloader on one phone per month
you unlock bootloader
you flash on awesome custom recovery - TWRP

you now can copy any custom rom on the phone and flash it
note 3 has cianogenmode, most people use xiaomi.eu global, which comes with removed chinese shit and western languages

there are other custom roms to choose from
anyway, I have hard time seeing botnet being left behind

From what I've seen on teardown videos on phones that advertise OIS, it's a physical thing.
>>
>>55625062
>private
you register on some site and their torrents somehow start working
you got access to them
example: https://tracker.cztorrent.net/

>public
is what you most likely use, you dont need to register, you dont need to adhere to some rules, you torrent what you see and what works
example: https://kat.cr/
>>

Public trackers have issues with download speeds and retention, also DMCA notices, but are available to everyone

Private trackers you usually have to deal with maintaining ratio but you get excellent speeds and retention, but of course they are not always easy to get into.

I'm going to assume you don't know how to APK
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/niantic-inc/pokemon-go/pokemon-go-0-29-0-release/pokemon-go-0-29-0-android-apk-download/

Goto settings>security>install unknown sources
download that and you're set. tap it, and it will install.

It's not on the play store for kitkat and down. However, seeing as you said 4.1.2 you're in the MAYBE area, I don't know. You could attempt lollipop but it's iffy. Also, your phone wont be able to do AR cause it prolly doesn't have a gyroscope.

And if you decide to start today, Canada got it today and it's fucking over the servers hardcore. Niantics has no idea what they are doing.

I believe that has something to do with it being 4.1.2 is why. If you can, go find lollipop.

It's subjective in most cases, but it really depends on where you were starting and where you go to. If you're working with a shit panel with 10ms response time, literally anything is half or better is going to be a noteworthy improvement.

The only game I've played that it was an objective improvement was Stepmania. You start cranking up high note rates and eventually bottom tier panels leave everything a fucking blur which gets annoying at try hard tier levels of playing.

But in all cases you'll probably get blasted by some korean scrub who is 8 years younger than you and better reflex abilities such that the monitor response time won't really matter.

Is there any way to hex edit an .exe to make it use a certain number of cores each time you start it, instead of manually doing it via task manager? For example, people have reported that a majority of Deadly Premonition's instability comes from the fact that it does not play well with multicore CPUs, and is advised to use task manager to make it use two cores. Is there a way, or will I have to keep doing it each time I play it?

It shouldn't impact your speed at all. I'm just grasping at straws here but you could check that your router has the latest firmware update, do a hard reset and reenter your pppoe information.

>>55627445
There's a specific word for a combination modem/router: gateway. When people want to attach their own router to a gateway, it creates issues from double routing. When you disable the routing function of a gateway so it acts like a plain modem, that's called bridging mode. You usually lose administrative access to the gateway when it's in bridging mode unless you hard reset it.

You mean a WAN port, and you're wrong. You connect the gateway's LAN to the routers WAN no matter what, but if you don't enable the gateway's bridging mode your connection is suffering unnecessarily.

If I set up a limited user account on Windows and only use that account (never the admin account)will I be as safe as when I use Ubuntu?

If not, what vulnerabilities do I have compared to when I use Ubuntu? If there are too many just tell me the important ones.
>>
>>55627588
Yep, latest firmware. As far as I can tell the gateway is in full bridging mode as well, since I set it up the way the manual says and it is no longer accessible via the network.

Strange stuff. Might try resetting both and retrying.

Linux has the benefit of "security through obscurity" meaning that while it technically has a similar attack surface to windows, there are a lot more target-able windows users out there, and therefor a lot more incentive for people to spend time and resources analyzing windows for new weaknesses, so a number of attacks like taking advantage of a malicious wifi connection or exploiting browser weaknesses to infect your system are more likely.

Well that depends on how you look at it. They go about security in different ways. Most of linux's software comes across automatically in repositories that are updated automatically.

It avoids a lot of worry from having to go to various shady sources to download things insecurely or let things get out of date and thus be subject to the latest discovered threats. The rate at which you get security patches is important, and factors in to peoples choice in browser and distro. Of course you also have PPA's in linux and the store in windows, but those are more exceptions to the rule at this point.

Windows has been trying to counter in ways that privacy conscious people might object to, but I can see their reasoning. They've appropriated android's tendency to hash upload any file you execute, and they're forcing system updates.

Don't underestimate the importance having the less common system. If you sit down at an airport and connect to the wifi, you're 10x more likely to be hacked if you are running windows.

I have a VIM question.

So far I've only used the program for coding so I've been avoiding line wraps by simply using inserting newlines where appropriate.
Now I started using it to write textfiles for my blog. Now manually inserting newlines and using a placeholder to replace with <br> tags at runtime works, but it's inconvenient because going back and editing text fucks up the lines.
Can I set VIM to navigate wrapped single lines as if they were actual different lines? Lines get really long when they're whole paragraphs each and only being able to navigate those wrapped lines by going left and right is super inconvenient.

This is really anti-intuitive, so it might be worthy of the thread subject, but is it possible for a faulty network adapter to screw with the modem and/or router? As in, kill the connection for the modem, or knock the home network offline momentarily? This adapter has felt like its on its last legs for the past couple of years (it's really old; only reason why it's not gone is because it took a break from acting up when I actually had money to spare, and there were more pressing things to buy), and we've had problems with several unstable routers and connections in a row at this point.

I suppose that the alternative is that we just have really incompetent IT guys out here, which isn't unlikely since this region isn't exactly known for its thriving tech sector, and that I have bad luck with buying lemon routers.

right click, create new partition or initialize, something like that, I don't know it exactly.

I think you can sideload an ad-blocking /etc/hosts file onto your phone without rooting it, maybe look into that (obviously it won't auto-update)

>>55630936

enable administrative tools in the taskbar and open disk management, format the sd card

>>55630935

if it works and it boots it's probably fine but there is a risk that if the power supply side of things on the motherboard is broken it could short or fuck some shit up but that's very unlikely if there's no visible damage (scorch marks, blown capacitors, etc)

only if they offer features that you want/need that generic drivers don't offer (network drivers might have QoL stuff or the likes)

inkjet sucks and requires constant maintenance or the cartridges will dry up or the heads gunk up, laserjet works the best but is expensive if you don't print often

if you go inkjet (you probably will if you're concerned with price) start by looking for cheap replacement ink cartridges and then find compatible printers

>>55630384

might have better luck on the webdev general or some css forum

>>55630187

xeons will certainly rape your wallet but consider getting haswell-e or skylake-e, they have higher base clocks and ability to overclock and if you're not planning on taking advantage of xeon specific features like multiple cpus you're pissing it away

as far as sli goes, heat will be a big problem so you'll either have to suffer through noisy fans or high temps, reference cards might be better as they generally don't care how hot the case is but it's something you'll have to look up

don't cheap out on fans, look up fan benchmarks and get the highest performance fans at a noise level you're comfortable with, you can always run noisy fans at a lower rpm to reduce noise but you can't get more cooling performance out of shit fans

there has to be an option to disable it, it'll ask for how long. I just recently did that.
Even better would be to uninstall it, it's borderline malware.

because it already has a partition on it you can either do it with diskpart (google it, be extremely careful) or you could just download a tool that does it like sd formatter (should be top result on google)

then google instructions for formatting with diskpart and be careful because if you do it wrong you could fuck up another disk by mistake

or just instructions on how to do it with disk management, I can't remember if there is a way to do it that way but I recall having to use diskpart a lot on windows

I use 3 ports on my gpu: 1 dvi, 1 hdmi and 1 dp. When I leave my house to work, I shut them off because I don't want to wear them off by running them 24/7 since I don't turn the computer off.

When I'm at work, I use teamviewer to browse several websites not allowed on the network such as 4chan.

The problem is, the displayport screen, the main one as it happens to be, is literally turned off in windows. I can't access it, and it fucks up my stuff.

Question is, why does the display port screen disappears from windows when it's shut off and how do I fix it?
>>
>>55631423
Yes. It's my sisters laptop.
>>
>>55630187
i wouldn't recommend multi gpu unless you desperately want top tier 4k gaming with dual gtx 1080, otherwise i'd recommend a single gtx 1080

micro atx usually isn't all that small, you can check out corsair 350d, or if you go single gpu and want something smaller you can check out ncase m1 (it's mini itx but you can get motherboards with large cpu sockets even on mini itx)

if you go multi gpu i think you should have watercooling in a case like 350d or bigger
>>
>>55631428
uninstall one of them.
best to keep avira and remove mcafee.

keeping both they'll fuck each other up constantly, slowing down the system significantly.

i have this old netbook with a dead harddrive (Asus 1015PEM, see pic for specs)

would it be worth replacing replacing the HDD with some cheap 30gb SSD and running a lightweight linux distro on it or am i better off buying a new laptop? would mostly use it for google docs, browsing, TV shows, and programming

also what should i check for to make sure the drive is compatible with the laptop?

I used some software to sort my images by resolution (I had intended to only sort my wallpapers), but I fucking forgot something, and I now have a folder with 10000 folders in it.

straight to the point; I want to move all of those images back into a single folder, and get rid of the leftover folders

How can I do that?

US, south west florida. There's a best buy but they don't carry anything.

Nope. No noise at all aside from the low hum of the fans. It sounds normal. I checkde all the cables to make sure they're secure.

Having trouble making second monitor work

Monitor 2 is primary screen connected by DVI it works and shows a display

Monitor 1 is secondary, connected by HDMI the computer recognizes it and knows it's there but there's no display showing, I turn it on and the monitor tells me "no cable connected"

When I take screen shot you can clearly see that the screen is there, but it's just not turning on

Now I've moved the DVI cable over to the other screen and it works

I've also changed out HDMI cable and still nothing though

So screen connected by DVI doesn't matter which one will work
Screen connected by HDMI doesn't matter which cable or screen won't

Is this a win10 issue, a driver issue, a hardware issue?
