That was a bad batch of monitors who suffered from that issue, a firmware update was needed to solve it, but it could only be done by AOC.

Nope, 144hz is shittier for 60fps content. 120hz is perfect for all mainstream content. 120/24 (cinematic) = 5, 120/60 (shitty gayme engines that lock at 60) = 2, 120/30 (most mainstream media) = 4. 144/24 = 6, the rest don't come out at whole numbers, so you might notice stutters. I have no idea how 144hz came to existence tbqh.
