>Model F122
They are one of the harder to come by Model F's, check out the geekhack and deskthority classifieds as well as /r/mechmarket.

And don't forget to trawl ebay and set up automatic emails so you get listing dumps

It's pretty much the only way to snag the good stuff.

Also check taobao out and you can get proxies. Often a lot of good deals from china if you figure out how to use it properly

Here is a proxy

Sup keyfags, /diy/ reporting for help.

I have lurked around through your OP links but cannot seem to find what I need. I am building a 40's styled piece of furniture which will have a 101 key mechanical board, but I'll need some keycaps to match the aesthetic. There's a bunch of dudes who have made steampunk keyboards but a lot of these seem to have homebrew keycaps, a whole shitload of work i'm hoping to avoid if I can find the right supplier. I'm thinking typewriter style, colour is not so important, as long as they look like they came from a telex or typewrite.

Can y'all help a /diy/no out?

Just bought my first mechanical keyboard. Went for the Ducky 5 Shine with nature white switches.

It sounded nice since it's a linear switch that has 55g activation force. Based on my fightstick, I hate buttons that are easy to press so I figured I wouldn't enjoy the cherry reds and the blacks sound rather stiff at 60g activation force. Many people say the nature white is a fantastic middle ground that leans a little towards the stiffer side which sounds great to me.

Anyone have any experience/criticisms? I hear Ducky is a great brand. ILloyd use it primarily for gaming but I still do a lot of type at home.
>>
>>55186002
Reds are quite light, blacks are pretty average weight and feel really nice.

The heavier switches such as clears, greens, zealios, etc.. suit the heavier weight because they have that tactile bump

Aww shit, same guys who make they keyboards I alluded to, didn't think to check if they sell caps. God amongst men anon.

Bonus points if anyone can point me to a close match on pic related? Was going to try and frankenstein these onto the keys but I'd rather not hipster out on something which is no longer made and getting scarcer by the day.

>picking cheap keyboards on AliExpress
>found a good one, fucked up ISO layout, which I actually like
>b-but muh cap support

On one hand on ANSI I can eventually change caps, on the other hand I'm not the kind of guy who would (or could) spend 50$ on keyboard caps if I'm spending less on the whole keyboard, so I don't even want to have that temptation.

what do

Does anyone have any experience or opinion on the AJAZZ AK33?

It's an extremely cheapo mech keyboard that looks very appealing to me. It can be had for under $50, it's a 75%(I believe?) compact keyboard, comes in either black or blue cherry mx knockoff switches, and it has RGB lighting which is important to me.

I type a whole fucking shit ton(short stories as a hobby), but I also game equally as much. I spend at least 4+ hours a day on my keyboard, usually much much more.

My only experience has been with rubber dome keyboards, so I'm not exactly coming from a different switch or something better than what I'm used to here, my expectations and standards aren't that high as such. I'd just like to jump into the foray of mech keyboards with something cheap, isn't going to blowdicks for gaming or typing and has backlit keys.

More info about the keyboard is in the above link if needed.

No idea what the fuck that is, though it seems to be some kind of cherry imitation, hence the colors will more or less correspond to the cherry switch weightings.
No idea about quality, this is the first time I'm seeing a clone of this sort.
The keycaps seem to be from the same OEM that produces all those chink board keycaps (magicforce, motospeed, etc).
It'll probably be quite ok for the price of less than 40 bucks. Look at the magicforce or the ajazz if you want something slightly more reputable.

Is there any laptop styled keyboard out there? Are there Cherry MX compatible keycaps with noise dampening rubber already build in that allow for the full 4mm of key travel?

Is there really no option to get a tenkeyless ISO-layout keyboard with Cherry Mx Clears? I've considered Pok3r, but I'd rather get a tenkeyless than a 60%.
WASDKeyboards had one with those specs, but the version with clears has been sold out for months with no new stock on the horizon.

I've stuck with Cooler Master keyboards over the years because they've been reliable and fairly cheap. I was thinking about buying another Quickfire Rapid ($75) for work, but maybe it's time to change things up.

PBT is a type of plastic, the type of keycap is cherry mx.

And yes, technically you could put Miami keycaps on it, but the Miami keycaps are much, MUCH lower quality than the stock ones.

I would recommend the Varmilo Va87mr.

It is definitely my favorite TKL board within your price range.

As for switches, you could totally get MX blues or greens, but I would wholeheartedly recommend Gateron greens or blues. Gateron switches offer everything that cherry switches do, but are much, MUCH smoother and far less expensive. I recommend greens over blues, though.

When I bought it off of Massdrop it had a bunch of options for backlight color, and I'm pretty sure you could find it in a handful of colors from other vendors as well.

Pic related, my va87mr

Don't fall for the gaming switch meme. Unless you are a professional OSU player, your performance will not change at all with 'gaming' switches.

Don't fall for the cherry mx meme, either. Their switches are really scratchy and expensive. Gateron switches are wayyy smoother, have good quality control and are cheaper.
>>
>>55219374
Ye I read up a comparison of the gateron blacks and mx blacks. The cherry mx wobble more and feel rough while the gateron are smooth and more linear - so what you just said.
But the blacks are said to be better for gaming being linear bc clicking could distract.

I have a infinity diy kit on order from masscucks - 2 months delayed, and now they are running a redscarf 2 diy (I really don't want to deal with more massdrop bullshit, the infinity will likely be my last purchase from them).

The TADA68 looks real tempting for the price but I want to ask... is there really all that much difference between a 60% and 65/whatever %, with the only difference being dedicated arrow keys? Anyone who have experience with using them.

I have a TKL quickfire with a replacement controller that allows for programming and I've tried with arrow keys mapped to fn wasd or hhkb and it's quite intuitive. So I am wondering if I should just settle for my infinity board and forget the rest.

It uses Topre capacitive switches, unlike traditional contact-based switches, these do not have any metal contacts or something of the sort that touch, instead measuring a change in capacitance when pressing down the keys, and hence sending a signal to the controller once a certain level of capacitance has been reached. This lends itself to a very high level of durability since there's no contacts that can get worn out and keychatter becomes a non-issue.

The keycaps are dyesubbed PBT (except for the spacebar), they're not immensely thick or anything, but they're still quite nice and generally won't leave you with any need to swap them for something else.

The case is entirely made out of ABS, and the switches are molded into the case. This tends itself to the very nice acoustic properties of the HHKB, since you get the nice clack of the slider hitting against the the plate on the upstroke.

The keypress is very smooth and tactile for the entire keypress (unlike mx-style tactile switches which are linear for the largest part of the travel). People usually compare it a very high quality rubber dome. I haven't had any high quality rubber domes except for this one under my fingers yet, so I wouldn't know, but I'd imagine that it would feel similar to this. It's a very nice and comfortable feeling which leaves one wanting to type more and more just for the sake of the hypnotic sound and the very pleasant feeling of the switches.

You also get supreme memeposting privileges.

I couldn't really tell you if it's overpriced since there's no other product of this sort on the market that I'd know of (there's some Topre clones such as the royal kludge and the noopoo, but I have no idea how those compare to the original), and they don't come with PBT keycaps either.

If it's worth 200 bucks to you is entirely a matter of whether you want it or not. Certainly was worth it to me, I'd buy another Topre keyboard without hesitation if I had any reason to.
>>
>>55222739
Wow, what you do say is very compelling. But the price of a HHK is around double the price of a Filco, and with the spare money I could buy some nice DSA type caps. What do you think?
>>
>>55222877
I'd say you should get a switch tester. The switch is pretty much the most important part of your keyboard and obviously determines the feel of your typing experience to the largest part. If you want a cherry mx switch, get a filco, if you want something entirely different, get the HHKB (or matias switches, but that's a different ballpark again).

Though I think that Filcos are overpriced and that you should get a non-backlit cooler master (same OEM as filco) or perhaps a Ducky or a Leopold instead.
>>
>>55222917
>>55222877
Forgot to mention in regards to the switch tester: The cooler master v2 switch tester features all cherry mx switches (except for clears) and a Topre switch. You can use that to test them side-by-side.

Or you can just get a keyboard from amazon and return it if you don't like it.

They're made by some guy. People then purchase tickets for a raffle and a few people win those few, single keycaps.

They're quite rare, hence the resale price that you're seeing on those ebay listings.

Any other questions?
>>
>>55223040
ahh so it's collectible, resale value that drives this, interesting. I assume the dude that makes them doesn't do repeats of older styles/molds or something? is this like collecting limited edition con pins or something?

Not that I knew of, and yes, it's pretty much pretty much a collectibles type of thing. Most of the time they don't fit the look of the keyboard at all and look fucking atrocious, but I'm not going to stop people from spending money on things that make them happy.

And some of them actually look quite decent, sometimes.

Had a quick question, if anyone would mind helping.

I've never owned a mechanical keyboard, but I saw a giveaway for this one (Tesoro Gram Spectrum) and liked the look of it.

I've looked into what I could find about it, and can only find that the cable can be removed, but can't find anywhere if the keyboard is also wireless, or if it's just for travel, etc.

I'm suspecting it is only for travel, but would like to ask if anyone knows for sure, or if they know of a keyboard similar to this.

Specifically, I need something wireless (can't deal with wired peripherals) and low profile.

> Budget - up to ~£100-£150 ($148-$222)
> Location - UK
> Switch type - Linear or Tactile (I program a lot, quiet keys would be ++++)
> Layout - ISO preferably (not at all an issue)
> Form factor - 100%
> Backlight - Yes
> Current keyboard - Logitech K750 (used for about 3 years, though the battery is starting to fail) In a best case scenario, I would next get a wireless keyboard that can be charged via wire

Thank you in advance for any help or tips on where I should look.
>>

Ducky Shine 5

The only wireless fullsize I can think of would be a Filco.

Who made is is just as important as what it looks like.
As soon as they find out it's a cheap fake you're fucked. You'll only get that price for CCs anyways.

Most artisans go for 25-50. And many are worth the money because they take time and effort to make.
