How do you effectively resolve issues that require you to go to tech support?

I had a tech guy from Verizon Wireless tell me that the Flashlight app on my phone (the app that 100M users have downloaded) may be the reason my new phone drops calls.

How do you guys deal with low-level tech support lines when you know that the issue isn't something from their script?

I spout technical bullshit until I get to someone who knows it's bullshit

I don't encounter issues that require me to go to tech support

I just ask /g/ instead

I just put them on speaker and smoke a bowl while they remote in and fix the problem

Tell them that you've already tried turning it off and back on, and all the other basic checklist shit. Say at the soonest available time without sounding too much like a prick that you'd like to speak with a tier two tech support representative.

When you get to tier two, try your hand with them. They may often be able to help you because they're usually not retards. If the problem persists and is significant, threaten to switch to another company. Lie and say that you work as IT for a small company, and that you buy dozens of their parts/licenses each year. If you're feeling dangerous, feel free to say that you've had numerous issues with their products before.

With some of those tricks I managed to get a certain hard drive vendor to preform data recovery for me (Usually costs in the range of 800-1000 USD) for free.

As Xbox Chat Support, and previously phone support, hang up until you get a person that knows what you're talking about.

The reality is it's mostly people that just need a job, and with high turnover rates, a call-center will keep someone that shows up every day.
