Unfortunately the company (Scythe) originally selling them in the west had a falling out with the manufacturer (Nidec) so they quickly sold out not to be seen a again for a long ass time, some American importers have been selling them since at a high mark-up until recently the anon that wrote the original TaoBao guide posted about finding them there and buying them.

Me and a bunch of anons tried requesting them with Gearbest to vague answers (probably because they didn't understand it.)

Thankfully I just found out that FastTech has a product request form on their site, so if anyone wants to get these to be sold there feel free to copy-paste my request. The more people that do it the higher chance of them being sold there.

Right m80s, let's talk about the Teclast X80 Plus:

Good points:

- Build seems pretty sturdy
- Dual boot is easy to use

Bad points:

- Hardly any space available in Android for apps and no facility to move to SD
- Recognition and function of SD is unreliable in Windows. On my other Windows tablets I've used Steam from SD with no problems but it won't work on this
- Battery life is laughable. Around 3 hours
- WiFi reception below average

Basically it's just about adequate as a streaming and shitposting device but anything else is beyond it due to its problems with space and SD cards. Realistically you can't even download a couple of things on BBC iPlayer for your commute without running out of space. The battery seems pretty awful as well.

I only paid £48 in the end so it's not a total disaster. My friend gave me a pretty nice HiFi for free recently so I think I'm going to plug the X80 into it as an internet radio and Spotify device.

For those asking why I didn't get the Pro: because I think 1080p will drain the battery faster. If that is indeed the case then I don't think you'll get more than 3 hours out of it.

I use it for Kodi and emulation (mostly SNES but it runs PS1 and N64 well), and that's really about it for me. It streams everything very well, and runs games very well.

I received mine less than a week ago and so far it's pretty good. Using LAN because fuck WiFi, and it can play 20GB+ encodes of movies just fine. Colours seem a bit off, but that may just be me.

Only complaint is the included remote is a piece of shit (as in can't pick up the signal consistently from 3-4m away) which doesn't matter that much to me as I only use it to wake it from sleep and use my phone to run Kodi.

Kodi comes with a bunch of crap installed so you may want to clear the app data and start again, up to you though.
