What options do I have in Windows 7 for printing multiple pictures at a time?

The default Windows print option seems to only allows you to print it in specific sizes (4x6, 5x7, 3.5x5, etc)

I want to be able to print several pictures off at a time on the same sheet, but I need to be able to modify the sizes beyond the stock 6 or 7 default Windows offers.

Options within Windows, or other programs I should look at?

I was using Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, then my laptop got stolen. I got a new one but avoided purchasing a new license because I was in school at the time and got it for free. That just ended today.
It seems like my only option is to buy a new license, but I think it's going to force me to buy Office 2015, which I hear is shitty. I just want to keep using the 2011 version. All product keys to reactivate that I've found on the web have already been used, and I tried the new method of moving a plist document to my library/preferences/ folder and that didn't work either.
What are my options here? Please help.

I have an old monitor with blown capacitors and the radioshack has capacitors that are 10 volts over the ones on the power board, otherwise, the same.
The capacitors that need to be replaced are 2x 220uF 25v and 2x 1000uF 25v. The ones I can get locally are 220uF 35v and 1000uF 35v.
Will this harm the monitor in any way?
>>
>>51476671
For a non bronze 500w $30 or less is kinda average
>>
>>51476842
No. That's just the maximum voltage it can run with. You are fine to replace with those. If it was the other way round, where you were replacing 35V caps with 25V ones, that'd be a problem.

Is it worth throwing in another 8 gigs of modern stuff, or should I replace the lot? (I assume the latter, but I'm cheap)
>>
>>51476988
Well, it all depends on what maximum frequency your motherboard can handle. If you already are on dual-channel RAM, I don't see how this could give you a performance boost.
>>
>>51476988
>>51477062 here. I mean, if you only have one RAM module installed, go for a module that has the same frequency and you will get dual-channel performance, which is far more interesting cost-wise than putting two new modules.

It's two 4 gig sticks, I just don't know if I should get two faster ones, or replace them with two 8 gig sticks. It's an old motherboard, but it does dual channel. (Asus p8p67, I built this system in 2011 lol)

It supports up to 2200 MHz. You can always choose something in between 667 and 2200 if you're limited on budget. And yes, you'd better change the whole lot to keep dual-channel.

Hello /sqt/
I'm running Mint and decided to install Windows fonts. They fix few issues I have with some software, however some pages on my Firefox started to display weirdly (mostly spacing issues). I was wondering if there's any way to stop my browser from using them without disallowing pages from choosing their own fonts.
>>
>>51477890
What exactly did you install?
Did you just copy the fonts from a windows machine?
>>
>>51477734
No touchpad, 16:10 and the keyboard goes to the edge of the computer so I think so.
>>
>>51477953
No, I installed the ttf-mscorefonts-installer package from software manager
>>
>>51477890
There are some ways to tell the system to prefer a family of fonts from another, but this applies to the whole system, not only on firefox. But most people are fine with Microsoft fonts, so you may have something broken in your font configuration, like hinting or something. Check this, it should apply to Mint too: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Font_configuration

Any last ditch ideas to fix a dying laptop? 2 things:

1. OEM keys can be obtained cheap ($20 for 8.1 pro)

They are sold on the "black market" for like $200 and allow for an infinite supply of retail keys.

The current state of email is really sad right now. Big companies are not playing by the rules and killed the decentralisation.

Don't forget, you need more than just a SMTP server and POP3/IMAP server.
- You need to set up DKIM proxy
- Set up spam detection
- Set up some sort of antivirus
- Set up SPF records
- Set up blacklists
- Put your server into whitelists, and off blacklists

And then we haven't even touched a firewall or web ui.

And even if you do everything right, your email might still go to gmail/hotmail's spam folder because you're using a cheap VPS or a raspberry pi at home, which means you have a dodgy IP.

Setting up a complete email server is a great exercise, but actually keeping it up in production is almost a fulltime job. And if you're renting a $5 VPS, its probably not even cheaper than using fastmail.

This is a really good guide though (OpenBSD): http://technoquarter.blogspot.be/p/series.html

Asked this in the last thread but didn't get an answer. I've had my old AMD Phenom 2 X6 1090T for over 5 years and I feel it's time for an upgrade. I'm thinking about getting a FX 8370 or 8350 since along with it being a gaming rig It needs to be a budget productivity rig, mostly just After Effects. I've still got a gtx 760 but my cpu is getting so old I feel like I shouldn't neglect upgrading it any longer. Suggestions other than the 8370 or 8350? New to java, trying to implement my own fix for the lack of pause commands in it, at least from what I've seen.

This is what I'm using, but every time it fails and goes straight to the end of the else statement.

public class World {

public static void main(String[] args) {
char S = 0, M = 0;
System.out.println("Testing...");
waitTime(1,S);
System.out.println("Tested!");
}

public static void waitTime(int timeLength, char timeType) {
try {
if (timeType == 'S' && timeType == 0) {
Thread.sleep(timeLength * 1000);
} else if (timeType == 'M' && timeType == 0) {
Thread.sleep((timeLength * 60) * 1000);
} else {
System.out.println("Unrecognized time format. Please try again.");
}
} catch(InterruptedException UnUsed) {
}
}
}

Am I missing something. I'm supposing that maybe timeType isn't getting the value in the method reference, but I'm under assumption that Java automatically applies those value when passing through, no?

AMD's 83xx series perform really badly in poorly threaded games (ie most games). I almost guarentee you will see very minimal increase in performance in most games going from an X6 to an 8350; if not a outright decrease.

With games, nothing beats Intel. I'm not shilling, I am a true AMD fan, but the ~10% performance gain I got from going from an X4 955 to an 8320 really infuriated me. Don't do it anon. Stick with the X6, or go Intel if you need serious game performance (also known as serious single/dual core thread performance).

grab an ip address from somewhere like hidemyass dot com (or any site that offers proxy ip's)

Don't install shit from sources you don't trust. 99.99999% of stuff on Google Play and Fdroid either won't be detected by an "antivirus" or would be a false positive. Of course, stuff like Cheetah Mobile shit will datamine you but its not a "virus".

I don't even run any extra "antivirus" on Windows, because the default tools and common sense are good enough. No antivirus will protect you from stupidity, it will just waste your resources and suck up your battery on mobile.

I'm actually in the same exact position as you. 5.1.1 makes it show its age with all the bloatware but apparently they're really slimming it down for 6.0 so I'd say wait for that and see how it performs there. Also if you really like taking pictures the Z3 camera looks pretty shit compared to current models. The reds are goddamn pink on it, I don't really care personally since I have a DSLR. I'm mainly looking at it for the aesthetics and Sony seems to have the least amount of bloat for 3rd parties. Looking to get a new laptop around Christmas. Would get it on Black Friday, but I'm a little low on cash.

I basically want to do some light video editing, along with some simple gaming like Gmod and such.

Any good? Seems to be a pretty decent price considering the specs.

This is my current set-up, and it's also somewhat busted up.

1. A game being laggy means that you are hasving a bad connection for a multiplayer game (or any other instance where you are connected to another machine across the internet) you are likely not meaning it in that way.

2. FPS is frames per second. The "laggy" feeling is you having decreased FPS from what is normal for you. Human minds stop having the seemless sensation at 24 fps but there is a noticeable difference in quality as you move up to 60 fps or even higher than that.

Other than that, do it manually. Delete the folder for it in Program Files, delete the start menu shortcuts. Open regedit and delete any file extensions it made in HKEY_ROOT (both the .ext 'folders' and the ones those reference in their (Default) value). Delete anything under that program name or the company that makes it in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software. Optionally search the registry for the name of the program and company, and delete anything relevant it finds.

I don't care honestly, I'd rather have something ready to go and upgrade as time goes on. Also, I'm thinking of keeping my old hard drive and using it on whatever new pc I get, do I just put both drives in their spots and Bob's my uncle or is there more to it than that?
>>
>>51485147
That's not a public link.

Also, an honest question: Why prebuilt? Building a PC is not hard and if don't know what parts to buy, you're on the right board to ask questions.
>>
>>51485058
Restart with addons disabled (it's in hamburger menu -> ? help icon). If that fixes it, review your addons and see which one makes it work right again when disabled.

If that doesn't fix it, your profile has gone fucky. Backup anything in your profile you care about and reset Firefox. Hamburger->help->Troubleshooting Information->Refresh Firefox.

A quick update, turns out my problem was twofold. First, I wasn't using the uefi image, and once I did I was able to use the apple bootloader just fine. Then, however, because I installed it from another usb, the filesystem is all fucked up so it wont boot without manually indicating which device to use while booting. Currently working to get the proper wifi driver now.
>>
>>51485184
Eh, I have a habit of feeling like I'm bound to fuck everything up. Plus, I helped a few friends build a pc together a while ago and the machine ended up all sorts of fucked from the start, so I wanna avoid bricking a 600-700 dollar investment as much as possible. I know full well that i'm not working with a nuclear reactor, but still.

List of specs since the link doesnt work like you said, and if it's any help. Also, I managed to dock off the optical drive since I dont use that shit and it went down to $639 now.

Not him, but isn't it discouraged on /g/ to ask what to buy for your computer? If not, then
Thinkpad or toughbook (or something else entirely)? I want to get a new laptop for college, but I'm going to try to be much less wasteful, since the last laptop I got was an alienware, and it still fuarrrks up regularly. I'll also probably be getting a new phone soon, on which I'd also like advice (in reference to compatibility between it and the computer, especially).

I'd really like a laptop which runs very consistently because of these previous issues. Speed is helpful, but only for normal use. I don't play computer games, but I do torrent a lot of stuff, as well as watch a lot of videos.

I also want to play around with a variety of OSs and distros, so a good functionality with that is important to me. I'm looking to get more into /cyb/ and crypto computer use in daily life.

The more adaptable the computer is, the better. That way, if I fuarrrk up, I can fix things by adding and/or removing hardware as necessary. On this same note, my preference is definitely for a laptop that doesn't come preloaded with a webcam and mic, since I'd have to waste time and possibly harm the computer by removing these.

I like the idea of a toughbook because I admire its ruggedness and portability. Who wouldn't want to use a laptop in the shower? I actually bought an old one without a hard drive because I thought I could expand its ram to make it functional, and I attempted to do so, but I couldn't manage to run Tails on it. I might try out something like DSL on it, though.

I'm definitely a newfag when it comes to hardware, so much so that I have no idea where to even begin to look for a source of intelligent opinions. If there are any /g/ approved sites, then please direct me to them. Otherwise, I welcome any and all opinions. My budget for all this is uncertain, but maybe somewhere along the lines of $1-2k USD.
What is the best PMP I can get for sub $60? Preferably somthing with lots of space or extendable via sd cards.

I dont like using my phone because it has shit battery life and listening to music all day on it completely drains it. I was using an ipod touch i got as a gift but the headphone jack port has gone to shit.

Sandisk Sansa Clip+
Clip Zip also acceptable
They're in the $40-50 range, tiny, hold 4-8 GB internal and have a MicroSD slot. I don't much care for the stock firmware, but installing Rockbox is easy and it adds support for a ton more formats and settings.

Hopefully they will have come to their senses by then and released something that isn't filled with shit. Same deal as when they made Vista, it was crap, tons of people insisted on XP, OEMs kept making things XP compatible due to demand, then MS caught on and made 7.

The question now is whether people will take their new Win10 machines to friends and shops and ask for 7 to be installed when things start going fucky.

i don't think so, i believe in hard determinism. things like randomness or free will do not exist in a deterministic universe, since everything is, well, predetermined. each state of the universe is the exact result of a previous state (which had only one possible outcome). some people argue muh quantum mechanics, but i think we simply lack the technology to understand it at the moment.

I've got a problem about my Noctua NH-D14 running at full speed all the time and being unable to control it

I can't control them by BIOS nor third party programs like Speedfan. This might be because the motherboard (P8p67) has a 4pin connector but the fan only has 3, so if that solves it I'd like to know if any cable would do or if buying an inappropriate/cheap one could do damage

I tried to do different connections, I'm currently using the split cable to the CPU_Fan connector, before I tried putting them in their normal state (The 120mm in CPU_FAN and the 140mm on CHA_FAN) but with the silent adaptators Noctua provides, it worked but it also netted me 3 BSOD for irql_not_less_or_equal. If you have any idea on how should I put them, please share

It might be caused for upgrading to W10, but I'd seem weird seeing I can't even control them in BIOS
>>
I've got to get a new motherboard since EVGA is fucking shit at making them, and my system will freeze after an hour or so at heavy load. It's 100% the motherboard, since I found a guy online with similar parts that's got the exact same issue.

How do I go about transferring my windows key from this old mobo to the new one? I've got the "retail" key, if that matters.

try using a CD

I put Debian on a friend's MacBook and when trying to use a known-working flash drive installer, it never would show up in the regular bootloader. Ended up burning the same ISO to a CD and holding C to boot it and it worked on the first try. I think this is some sort of weak protection Apple put in place.

Yeah, find ones that say the hash in the description, and see if it's a known retail/MSDN/whatever hash. If so, download, and check the actual hash once it's done.

>>51486166
Similar: Zalman FanMate. It gives you a little black knob on a wire to control the fan speed with. They also make ones that go in a drive bay to put the knob(s) on a front panel.

>>51486092
Not a protection, it just doesn't know how to boot MBR USBs.

>>51486071
Move the HDD. It will prompt to re-activate. See if it works -- sometimes it does. If it doesn't, do the phone activation. You call a number they give, a robot answers, you enter a long number from the screen using the phone keypad, then the robot reads back another long number you type in. Then you're activated and good to go.

If it was an OEM key, you might be screwed since OEM keys are tied to the mobo (or possibly identical replacement mobo). Retail keys can be transferred infinitely within reason (i.e. they might get suspicious if you reactivate with new hardware every day), you just can't have it on 2 working computers at once.

>>
>>51486362
Is /home on a separate partition?

Ext* filesystems have ~5% of the total space reserved for root. The disk will report being 100% full when this 5% remains. If you use up that 5% (only root can do it), you might have trouble booting. If you then free part of it, you'll still be 100% full since you're still inside that 5%.

It does this so you won't so easily end up with an unbootable system. It also reduces fragmentation since ext4 can actually handle fragmentation pretty decently at 95% full.
>>
>>51486397
If you get the knob ones, get 2 if you want to control the fans separately. If you don't mind controlling both at once, get 1.

Thread's dying but whatever, I'll probably post in the next one.

I've been using a VPN for a while and have been connecting/disconnecting whenever I want to torrent/play online games but I want a more permanent solution that will allow me to not use the VPN for certain applications (i.e Steam) and if possible not use it for certain sites because the big jew prevents posting from a VPN.

Is there some sort of guide on how to force an application to not use the VPN service? I'm thinking there might be a way to do it using IP and routing tables.

Currently using AirVPN and Windows 8.1.
