Server rack is currently awaiting paint and reassembly then installation. Till then...
>>
>>50792381
I am sorry to say OP but these are not enterprise grade... :-/

These are 10-15 year old models that nowdays no company with serious IT infrastructure would use! I mean when the SNAP 4200 (i think the one without the facia is also a SNAP) came out Windows XP was the latest/new MS OS and the proliant server you got there is from 2007 - 2008. I am not even going to comment on the networking equipmnet and the state of all of your equipment.

Nothing wrong with that just this is not enterprise hardware, it is barely good for home lab use actually.
>>
>>50792960
I understand that. I am just curious to see what people are running. They may not be enterprise grade anymore but it was at one point.

You can buy a dual 2.3ghz Quads, 16 gigs memory, 2 tb storage and dual PSU rackmount dell poweredge server on ebay for $250 right now.

That doesn't make you "Enterprise grade"
>>
>>50793181
Well it is Dell to begin with... :-P
>>
>>50793099
Thanks, it's some real enterprise grade stuff
>>
Are there storage racks that aren't full size?

Only need a chassis for disks so buying something with room for atx board etc is a waste.

Is there even such a thing?

cons
>so close to the carpet
>no dust filters
>locking glass LOLWUT
>terrible PSU for server
>non of the racks are screwed in

pros
>reasonable, perhaps adequate cable management
>drawers look easy-ish to work on

overall 4/10
minor improvements can go a long way
>>
>>50795724

>so close to the carpet
It literally sits on the carpet without any legs because otherwise it wouldn't fit under the desk. There is no way to get dust in from the carpet.

>no dust filters
There are dust filters in both double front intake fans in both cases.

>locking glass LOLWUT
It reduces noise by a bit so I like it.

>terrible PSU for server
Why? All it does is torrent stuff for me and stream some music. It doesn't need double modular PSUs connected to a UPS. It's not hosting production critical code. There is no production.

>non of the racks are screwed in
Why would they need to be? This way I have easy access. And the rack is mostly stationary.

my "enterprise class" router for my backup DSL connection.

... which I've been entirely too lazy to connect and configure even though I'm paying for the connection every month. I'm also too lazy to configure my pfsense box that connects to the router.

The throughput on that router (1720) is shit anyways... I should probably get an 1841 and upgrade the connection a bit.

yesterday, sleepdeprived, slightly drunk and bored me decided to browse ebay to pass time, and ended up buying a dell poweredge T110 II (i know its a tower, but this is the closest thread) for $230 with the following specs:

intel xeon E3-1220 quad core
4GB 1333mhz ECC DDR3
4 x 300 GB 15K rpm SAS
single gigabit ethernet port, and so on.

i just want to know your oppinion on the price, i was surprised myself, mostly because i have no money at the moment but i guess that i don't have to pay for my hosted dedicated server now.

I rate it a 85dB. Fucking 60mm fans in your house? Give me a break.
>>
>>50797337
Reasonably good deal, but that 1220 is like at least 2 generations old now, and those 15k RPM drives are freakin loud.
>>
2 x dell r910s (24 cores, 256GB of memory)
10 PB Netapp w/ ssd caching
SGI inifinite data cluster (128 cores/machine over 40 machines, ~4TB of memory and 1.9 PB of storage)

No pictures, sorry. This is the first time I've been completely free to use this amount of computing power. I also don't have to share it with anyone. I have to say, its amazing the kind of stuff you can do with over 5k processor cores.

Most of its Java map reduces and other hadoop/database stuff, but I've written a few distributed programs in C and C++ that were insanely fast.
>>
All my stuff has been retired, but it used to be decent, back in 2013/2014.

3x PE 2950 (2x 5460, 32GB RAM)
2x PE R900 (4x 7440, 256GB RAM)
36x 600GB 15K SAS SAN (EMC AX4-5f)
Cisco 2960S-10G
Cisco MDS9143

I used to post pics when I had it. But noise and power requirements...

Looking at picking up a pair of R710's. I have a box of Pliant 200GB SAS SSD's that I'd like to put to use.

Currently just using a ProLiant Micro G8 (Xeon 1240v2, 16GB RAM, 8x 2TB, 4x 4TB) and a pair of the HP 8 port switches designed for said Micro. Running Plex, a pair of 2012 r2 DC's, DHCP, DNS, Team Foundation Server, SQL, and Windows System Update Service. Mostly just Plex. It works...
