Please post some pleasant looking laptops?

imo chromebook pixel looks pretty but too pricey. Thinkpads goes without saying.

What does being pricey have to do with the aesthetics, are you going to buy a laptop just for the looks?

The thinkpads kind of remind me of the older black Apple notebooks that had the rainbow apple logo. Those were sexy as fuck.
That said, thinkpads are kind of rugged/thick looking (not the newstyle ones)
I definitely will miss the thinkpad keyboard/trackpoint when the T420 becomes deprecated ;_;

Honestly, I hated typing on those flat chicklets, chicklets feel awful to me, the new thinkpad chicklet will probably be better than others because of the curved design on the keys, but I also hate the spacing out on chicklet keyboards.

too bad non-chicklets also collect shit under the keys constantly, fuck

No you're wrong. It's designed so that you can limit the amount that your left wrist is in flexion. As there isn't an Enter key on the right side of a keyboard most touchpad gestures are done with the left hand.
>>
>>45891381
That makes sense - but in practice - people use their primary hand for the touchpad (depending on whether you are left handed or right handed). So you argument falls flat.

one one hand white plastic looked great on the ibooks and macbooks, but that was about it.

every other white laptop i've seen was way too prone for turning dingy even after minimal use, and scuffs/scratches would amplify any dirt that made its way onto the laptop.

I just hope overall we move away from the shitty plastics and start focusing on more quality materials for laptops

>>45890647
Because it's literally a connect to the botnet machine.
>>
>>45892136
that's not what a botnet is
>>
so what makes an aesthetically pleasing design for you /g/?

for me it's definitely
>matte/flat colors
glossy finishes are magnets for smudges. While they hide scratches and scuffs fairly well just handling it will smudge the shit out of it

>squared, even edges
I'm not talking about sharp corners, but subtle rounding is always better than giant bulky curves (at least IMO). Clean edges are tidy and really pleasing to the eyes.

>low profile
i'm not talking super-thin like most netbooks/laptops seem to be going for today, but i don't want a 3 inch thick behemoth sitting on my desk or taking up extra space in my bag. With the way the hardware has advanced over the last 5-10 years, we can fit more powerful components in smaller spaces without much worry of heat or other performance issues. So something that can fit well into my backpack or any kind of bag without weighing it down is always a plus.

>centered mousepad.
It seems like these days manufactuers are getting in on the offset mousepad trend, even on laptops/notebooks without dedicated numberpads. It's just awkward to use them unless you're left handed, and even if you are, chances are you'll mistakenly rest your wrist on the trackpad while typing and end up misclicking or have your cursor dance around while trying to type. trackpads in the center of the laptop itself avoid all of that, and provide the same level of comfort for users no matter their dominant hand.

>dark, uniform colors
not "black as my soul" dark, but cooler and muted colors definitely look cleaner and appear more "professional" than loud obnoxious colors, not to mention that they usually do a better job at hiding scratches and can hide dirt/smudges better. And as for uniformity, i'd really like to see laptops go back to keeping one color. Nothing worse than having two tone laptops that flip between pitch black and obnoxious grey everywhere.
>>
>>45891102

That would never happen as long as reviewers keep shilling the Macbook as the epitome of notebook design.

Which is sad because next to this thing the MBA looks like a formless blob. I want radical yet intelligent designs that scream "modern computer" and not "modern toy". Like ThinkPads of old and the X505.

mine came with a 120 GB SSD and the 1600x900 screen for 315 USD 3 months ago.
im pretty sure you can't get a 9 cell battery for the t420s, as opposed to the t420. the battery on on the bottom near the front instead of sticking out the back.
its my first thinkpad and its great. I only regret not getting an x220 for the form factor and significantly better battery life.
>>
>>45892678
I had an x220, I couldn't deal with the low screen res, but the rest is solid
>>

>I only regret not getting an x220 for the form factor and significantly better battery life.

Ouch - I was torn between the two as well.

I guess in the end - I picked 420 for the bigger screen - and I won't always have a monitor connected.

my acer netbook from 2009 had the same resolution as the x220 at 11.6 inch diag. this t420 has even worse viewing angles than the acer. so i probably wouldnt mind the x220 res since I only replaced the acer because it was slow as shit. if i can get one with an IPS screen it would be nearly perfect.

Most of our AZERTY keyboards use Numpads, which we use to type numbers.
However, that layout sucks when programming, because no easy access to { } and [ ].

A trackpad SHOULD be centered to the spacebar. Placing it anywhere else would just make it an inconvenience when putting your hands on the palmrest when typing because you would accidentally touch it.
