/plg/ - Powerlifting general.

>Limber doggo edition

Post PR's, routines, form checks, meet results, schmexy lifts, etc. No Dubs or gets allowed. Supermong and Sean pls go.

Remember OHP is not IPF approved, and long femurs are the underactive thyroid of lifting

I'm at 1/2/3/4 idk if I'm dumb but sheiko hasn't been doing much for me. I prefer higher intensity less volume. Anyone got any suggestions? Also anyone got a link to juggernaut? People have been suggesting it to me.
>>
>>42729895
the whole point with TM is that even if you bench twice a week its not enough volume, duh

>>
>>42729911
Yes. That's why I'm asking for advice from the same retards who said to do sheiko.
>>
>>42729917
If you don't like it don't do it. Some people prefer submaximal work, some people prefer sets to failure. You do you boo.
>>
>>42729922
I'm a failure kinda guy, you got any programs in mind or should I just keep at what I've been doing?
>>
>>42729915
everything would be better, you can linear probably still do beginner routines with those lifts.
>>42729917
You believed raffy right? No one here ever suggested to do sheiko for beginner early intermediate lifters. Sheiko was always supposed to be last resort program when nothing else works.
>>
anon today is in a shitty mood, has to bully everyone on /plg/
>>
>>42729932
I am in pretty shitty mood, but I only bully retards. For some reason that's almost everyone here today.
>>
what do I do when texas method stops working but my lifts are too shit to justify moving out of intermediate
>>
>>42729929
Reminder that 1/2/3/4 at -66 is higher than your current wilks

>>42729928
Nuckols 3x int bench plus the 3 day variant of TM. Don't be like the other retard in the thread who wants to do UL. The advantage of TM U/L is you get more upper body work in, which isn't relevant if you swap out the upper body work in the first place.
>>
>>42729929
You'd be surprised how many people suggested it 5 months ago. Granted I went from 225 315 405 to 255 365 475. But I felt like as a 17 year old (plz no ban) I have enough test to achieve more
>>

>>
>>42729939
>330 wilks
>he thinks he's advanced lifter now
lmoa nice try retard.
>>42729948
It was still mostly suggested for more advanced lifters and those were also raffy orbiters. Plenty of actually knowledgeable people never suggested sheiko for someone fresh from linear progression.
>>
>>42729948
>Granted I went from 225 315 405 to 255 365 475.
Why the fuck are you so fucking retarded, if you put 150 lbs on your total in one cycle then keep doing the program you fucking retard

>b-but I would've put 15000 lbs on my total with SS!
No, you just have unrealistic expectations because all you lifting knowledge comes from idiots on the internet who barely lift.
>>
>>42729968
>150 pounds on a sub 1k total
Shit dude in 5 months i feel like I could be better.
>>
>>42729948
If you're in a low enough weight class that's pretty good progress for one cycle. I guess if you were fat fuck you'd be early enough intermediate that you might have progressed faster doing something else but it's still progress.

>>42729962
350 is pretty much advanced for most people. You have no idea what you're talking about and you are simply making contrarian statements for the sake of it. Post your wilks
>>
>>42729982
I'm 230 6'2 so pretty fatty.
>>
>>42729982
>350 is pretty much advanced for most people
lmoa that's funny because I'm actually at 352 and I still make weekly progress on all my lifts. Not like it matter because neither you nor I have any wilks since we haven't competed and wilks is only valid for competition lifts.
>>
>>42729989
You probably shouldn't have done sheiko. IMO you should probably cut and run a hypertrophy phase to maintain muscle, in order to set yourself up for a clean bulk and steady progress afterwards running something like TM with 3x int bench, but that's just me buying into Israetel's stuff, maybe you don't need to cut at all.

>>42729997
If you're deloading it's not linear progression, it's periodisation. Count the weeks between your PRs and I doubt you'll find that you're going at 5/10lbs on upper/lower per week. Realistically it's probably half that or a bit less. I could be wrong, you could be a talentchad and you could be shitting on every strong lifter in the general in 3 years time, but most people aren't talentchads.
>>
>>42730016
Nah I'm starting to cut now. Marching band and wrestling are going on which means a fuck ton of cardio. Hoping to get down to 200 by january. Appreciate the advice tho.

>>42729975
At that pace you would put over 150 kg on your total in a year. If you stay at 230 lbs that would mean you increase your wilks by 100 points in a year. How is that not good for any lifter?
>>
>>42730039
I mean, I doubt I'll stay at that pace, would be nice tho. But idk i think I just have my head filled with advice from dyels. I just wanna be one of the best lol.
>>
>>42730049
The dyels are the ones exaggerating how much you can gain, but you probably could have gotten further on a weekly DUP program rather than a 3 month cycle.

>>
>>42731344
I'm rounding lower back, not upper. I don't really understand how to feel a stretch reflex; I always end up rounding my lower back to hit even further below depth. I used to round my upper back but I fixed it by bringing my grip in close and keeping elbows down.
>>
>>42731459
That sucks.

I don't get injured, so I feel really bad for you.

Do you think it's because ph3 is a hack program?
>>
>>42731469
Post video. Your whole back is probably weak as fuk
>>
>>42731488

When your back rounds a lot of the time it's because you're in a stronger position with your back doing more work, meaning your back is stronger.
>>
>>42731488
Don't have video but it's definitely not my back, my squat is 110kg as of today and my DL max is an easy 160 as of a month ago. I avoided squats for a while and now I'm finding a new problem killing my progress every time I hit a significant PR. It's getting pretty frustrating but I'm up from an 80kg squat back when my DL was 150 so I'm getting somewhere. Long femurs too so my end goal is to have a squat 80-85% of my deadlift.
>>
>>42731480
I was actually making steady gains but then I got greedy and tried fast tracking it by skipping the light week which is exactly when the snapped shit happened

It was going so well too with no other injuries this year until then
>>

its embarrassing how many people here have weak quads
>>
>>42731050

My stance is pretty narrow, could it be that?
>>
>>42731576
There's a lot of things that could go wrong with the knee in a lot of ways. Simply saying "knee pain" doesnt tell anyone anything. Describe it.

How does it feel. Where does it hurt. What movements trigger it.
>>
>>42731561
I've already spent the last month or so fixing that, I went from a completely bent over good morning 105 to a clean 110 where the bar stays over mid foot and I don't lose balance at all. I've been doing barbell lunges twice a week on squat days and front squats on deadlift days.
>>
>>42731529
>>42731511
Nevermind, it isn't a back weakness, it's a body weakness.
>>

>>
>>42730999

>>
>>42731752
I have literally no idea.
I posted this months ago and my wilks hasn't even improved.

It seems for every lbs I add to my total I add to my bodyweight
>>
>>42731772
Have you tried hypertrophy training? Israetel says to only bulk/cut during hypertrophy phases because otherwise there isn't enough stimulus to gain quality weight/maintain muscle.
>>
Is the Candito six week program good?
>>
>>42731791
I have not once in these 4 years tried bodybuilding if I am honest. I do obviously do high volume, but nothing like a bodybuilder.

Maybe I'll try it but I don't really know where to begin.
>>
>>42731813
Just pick any PL program that has a lot of high rep accessory and main lift work. Something like 5/3/1 but not trash. Maybe create a GZCL program and make it work for you.
>>
>>42731792
For squat and dl, yes.
It is subpar for bench though, people here usually replace it with nuckols bench 3x int med but still use the c6w upper accessories.

>>42731728

>>
>>42731853

>>
>>42732028
PHAT isn't even a program. It's a very loose template at best. If he's been training for 4 years and has a 280 wilks chances are he has no idea how to turn a loose template into something that will result in progress.
>>
>>42732006
Well you would be doing c6w for dl and squat and nuckols for bench
>>
>>42731087
Your bar path is not straight. It almost goes like an S, its supposed to be |
>>
>>42732006
I don't think you understand. You take away only the bench/ohp work in c6w, and REPLACE it with benching from nuckols' program without touching any of the lower body work. So you're doing both at the same time.
>>
>>42732074
You can see it comes off his shins and moves forward, right as the bar speed slows down. The rest of the curve is just him correcting it.

It looks like you have a very wide stance, that is not necessary. Have you read Starting Strength? Have you watched ripps vids on form? if not, DO IT
>>
>>42732204
You seem to start the descent with your knees.

As other people have mentioned you gotta brace more. Get tighter. A cue that worked for me was to think "up" on the descent, feels like my legs and core are braking hard on the way down and it gets me mega tight. Like, you should be so tight that 5 squats with no barbell should have you need catch your breath a bit.
>>
>>42732286
Line your feet up on something?

On that note, when I squat with my feet inline, by left heel always comes up off the ground at the bottom of the squat, and it feels like I'm pushing through the ball of my foot on that foot.

If I slightly stagger my stance with my left food a bit in front of my right, then I'm firmly on my heels for both feet.

Is this a mobility issue or is one leg slightly longer than the other?
>>
I'm doing TM but as everyone else I would like more upper body volume and personally I'd like more deadlifts. since we're talking intermediate routines how's c6w+3x int bench med compared to The Bridge as discussed previously
>>
>>42732724
I dont actually think that anyone here has actually ran the bridge
>>
>>42732724
I'm not really familiar with the bridge, I never ran it and I skimmed over it like one time. I can say that if you are an early intermediate, c6w is one of the best lower programs you can run. First cycle I went from 330x1 squat and 430x1 sumo dead to 320x5 and 420x5, respectively.

>>42732556

RPE isnt about maxes, you dont have strict % than, you just go on what feels about it today jsut dont get GDE on it. Push hard. It allows to maximize good days and get rest at bad days.
>>
>>42732814
Probably not desu, boardshorts successfully ran c6w and he's moderately advanced. And what makes you think you're an mid to late intermediate with four months of strength training in your belt? Specific programs not working or?

First two weeks of C6w has three bench days, which would work obviously with Nuckol's 3x bench.

Lol. saturated fat is used for hormone production, thus gives you a minor test boost after your workout.

According to google, a typical 43g chocolate donut has 11g of fat and 22g of carbohydrates, 11g of which are sugars.

So, I would say its not all fat, unlike you.

Deadlift hurts my lower back and flexibility isnt the issue I'm extremely flexible, was thinking I just need more muscle around my core and that made me think squating would be the answer.

Quads are too weak at the minimum, weak core could also play a part. However you could also have the bar too far forward, past your mid foot.

Is there any way to responsibly own a dog while working full time and training? Other than bringing the dog to work.

It just feels unfair to leave the animal alone for like nine or ten hours a day. I know they have dog walker services and stuff, but not all dogs will like that.

I like dogs, but I don't want to get one and have him just be bored all day. Feels bad.

My dog, a labrador, is used to and wants his daily ~8 hours in his outside dog house/area, and can deal with ~12 hours if necessary. Regularly being alone more than a work-day is kinda mean to the dog though, so you either bring it with you to work or training or don't get one at all. Don't be one of those that get a dog that ends up being neglected. They're pack animals and even independent dogs need company.
