A few days back I finally broke through the 155 threshold through a calorie deficit. It was a wonderful surprise. And then I've been ruining things. Eating a lot. Requesting stupid shit...like doughnuts. As of now I haven't gained anything. Fool's luck, really.

Yo /fat/ long timer lurker never posted before.
I recently saw a concert and ever since then I've been crazy motivated and I've been controlling my cravings and been on top of everything I need to do. I'm still fat as fuck, but it's been a solid month of being completely on track and I feel amazing. I'm an actor/musician and seeing that concert made me absolutely realize that I wouldn't be able to perform a show like that, at the state I'm in which really caused a shift for me.
I don't know why I'm really sharing this, none of you should specifically care, but I guess I wanted to share this joy with someone, and who better than the anonymous /fat/ friends that might relate.
Here's hoping we all make it friends. One day.

I'm gonna get back on the wagon and start losing weight again. I was on /fat/ a few month's back but I dropped it after I had pizza with friends. I told myself that it would just be a week off, and then it spiraled out of control. Luckily I only gained back a few of the pounds that I did lose, but now I plan on actually getting down to an appropriate weight, not only for the sake of my health, but for the sake of my confidence, my appearance, and hopefully to get a GF.

I was 220 when I started, I am currently 205, and my goal is currently 180. I will do this. I need to.

I'm onto day four of a prolonged water fast. Feeling pretty good in all honesty. Taking it week by week and my eventual goal is 28 days. I got multivitamins, a buttload of water, and a lot of fat to consume. Walking almost 3 miles a day and I'm doing light muscle exercises.

Burgers can be easily done- just go for half the bun, a lean ground beef if you want to make your own burger and go easy on the toppings.

If you don't want to do dishes, get yourself an adequate container and eat your food out of disposable freezer bags lodged into the container (1-2 cent a piece). This works for oats etc. Good homeless tip

Another OK option is mashed potato powder (if you like mashed potatoes). Doesn't have to be cooked, just put water and powder in a bag.

Get some plain wholegrain bread for a snack, don't put shit on it. Also a few nuts and seeds perhaps

For vegetables, sauerkraut is good, or spinach/kale, but canned kale is pretty disgusting compared to fresh. You can just eat raw vegetables ofc.

Hey, new to /fit/. I started an 80/20 Paleo Diet last week, weighed in today 5 lbs lighter already. Today I started a light strength training routine, I'm just trying to build up a base at home so I have the confidence to actually go to the gym in September when I get the rest of my student loans and can afford it. 1.I'm 6'1 and I'm seeing all these guys on here who are only 180 lbs, but even in high school when I was a pillhead skelly I was like 190. I have really broad shoulders so should that factor into my weight goals? I feel like I'd look really lean at 200, I'm 231 right now and just chubby, not hugely fat.

I usually have this problem too. One way to overcome it, it's to do a more extreme diet, instead of 500 cal deficit a day, do 1000, this way if you overeat one time, it doesn't get you to maintenance.
And, I don't know why, but in extreme diets, I can sometimes control myself more.
You need to try different methods if one is not working for you: maybe intermittent fasting, or other diets.

And it also varies between different people and depending on what your body is adapted to at a given point in time. Obviously it is well-established that protein is very satiating per calorie and that calorie density, total volume and fiber are additional factors, so the whole protein + vegetables thing is a good starting point. But there are many other factors that come into play. And unless you are intentionally doing keto you need to get enough carbs to get some glucose and glycogen going. There are definitely studies that find better long-term satiety with beans than isolated proteins. But overall it's more about the entire diet and not individual meals.

New fatbro here. Currently learning things to take the first step to not hating my body.

Not sure what to focus on for primarily weight loss though. Do I start building muscle first, before I start trying to lose fat? Or the other way around? I'm currently unable to do even one sit up and only like 15 or so push ups, for reference I guess.

I know it's not good to cut corners, but knowing my personality I'd get burnt out trying to count calories. Is it cool if I just make my diet healthier in general? Rather than getting meticulous.

My uncles on the maternal side of the family supposedly both didn't hit growth spurts until they were graduating college, but they went from like 5'5 to 6'2. 5'9 isn't a manlet, not in the real world anyway. But You're pretty much average or right below. A growth spurt in college sounds hard to believe though, especially that late into college. But you never know. From what I've read it's technically possible to hit one as late as like 27 although that is quite rare.
